  • In this paper, we propose the NCP (Network Control Platform)-based defense mechanism against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks in order to guarantee the transmission of normal traffic and prevent the flood of abnormal traffic. We also define defense modules, the threshold and packet drop-rate used for the response against DDoS attacks. NCP analyzes whether DDoS attacks are occurred or not based on the flow and queue information collected from SR (Source Router) and VR (Victim Router). Attack packets are dopped according to drop rate decided from NCP. The performance is simulated using OPNET and evaluated in terms of the queue size of both SR and VR, the transmitted volumes of legitimate and attack packets at SR.

  • The study is to understand the needs of flood victims of Korea through the analysis of relief goods, and to assess extent of support-service efficiencies. According to the analysis, both emergency relief kit and cooking relief kit are possibly labelled 'the primary' and 'the secondary necessaries' respectively. Here the former includes those items directly related with basic living condition for the victims while the latter does some of items for more convenience lifestyle. The results of the study would be substantial in the sense that they could provide some useful clues upon which improvement policies or programs associated with relief goods for flood victims are derived.

  • Even though newly formed schools do struggle to strengthen their security in safety, existed schools have limitations for active response against natural disaster. From analyzing the results of accident cases and states in misfortune and the safety supervision of school facilities, it is said that damages by wind, flood and fire are typical types of disaster accidents. Also, according to the basic law of misfortune and the safety supervision, it emphasizes education, training, and actions that prevent from being a victim of natural disaster. In terms of these finding, establishing disaster safety organization, control system and having students an opportunity to learn how to response against disaster should be critical component in managing disaster safety of school facilities.

  • Recently, DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack has emerged as one of the major threats and it's main characteristic is to send flood of data packets toward a specific victim. Thus, several attack detection schemes which monitor the destination IP address of packets have been suggested. The existing Bloom Filter based attack detection scheme is simple and can support real-time monitoring. However, since this scheme monitors the separate fields of destination IP address independently, wrong detection is comparatively high. In this paper, in order to solve this drawback, an efficient Bloom Filter based destination address monitoring scheme is proposed, which monitors not only separate fields but also relationship among separate fields. In the results of simulation, the proposed monitoring scheme outperforms the existing Bloom Filter based detection scheme. Also, to improve the correctness of detection, multi-layerd structure is proposed and the correctness of result is improved according to the number of layers and extra tables.

  • A tragic disaster happened by capsizing O-Ryong 501 trawler at Western Bering Sea in 1st, Dec. 2014. The disaster was caused by the severe weather and the long deferred escape from the storm in fully developed high sea. Lots of sea water from poop deck rushed into the fish ponder with fishes all together after hauling net and then remove the fishes from codend. The vessel became to incline to the one side caused by the weight and the free surface effect of flood sea waters and fishes at initial stage. In spite of crews all effort to discharge the waters, but the work was not achieved successfully. For the worse thing, the order of abandon ship was issued too late. After all, the ship capsized and sank, then almost crews became to the victims of the casualty including captain. In this paper, author carried out restrictively the calculation of dynamic factors influenced on the disaster including the weather condition and effects of the flood sea waters, and found out that the most important causes of the disaster were the decrease of stabilities, GM was decreased from 0.9m to 0.08 m, and the high waves which led to the vessel disaster.

  • This paper deals with study of a new framework for the traceback of distributed DoS(Denial of Service) attacks in the Internet, in which many sources flood "spoofed" IP packets towards a single victim. In our scheme, the destination host traces those anonymous packets' losses, and infers the logical end-to-end paths back towards the sources. This method is based on the fact that there is a strong correlation between packet losses when those packets traverse along a same route, and the simulation results show high probabilities of detecting the topology under a certain condition. Compared with previous approaches, our scheme has a number of distinct features: It can be performed in realtime or non-realtime, without any supports of routers or ISPs. Our results may be applied to the inference of physical topology and to support previous approaches.pproaches.
