Effect of Annealing on the Mechanical properties of Fe-6.5wt% Si Alloy (Fe-6.5wt% Si 합금의 역학 특성에 미치는 어닐링 효과)

  • 6.5wt% Si steel is widely known as an excellent magnetic material because its magnetostriction is nearly zero. The AX magnetic properties as magnetostriction of 6.5% Si steel were evaluated and compared with those of conventional 3% Si steel sheet. In this paper, the fracture behavior of the poly crystals and single crystals of Fe-6.5wt%Si alloy has been observed. Single crystals were prepared by Floating Zone(FZ) method, which melts the alloy by the use of high temperature electron beam in pure argon gas condition. And the single crystals were annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ and 700$^{\circ}C$ respectively and tensile tested at room temperature. According to the result, B2 phase has more good elongation than DO$_3$ phase. It was also found that the fracture surfaces of the single crystals have hairline facets in same direction, and the facets change the direction according to the single crystal phase.

  • The CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) displays have been substituted for FPDs(Flat Panel Displays) such as LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP(Plasma Display Panel) because they have a convex surface, large volume and heavy weight. The productivity of FPDs is greatly dependent on the area of thin glass panel with $0.6{\sim}0.8mm$ thickness because FPDs are manufactured by cutting a large-scaled thin glass panel with patterns to the required product dimensions. So FPD's industries are trying to increase the area of thin glass Panel. Through FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis and fluid analysis, we developed an non-contact and air-floating conveyor system which consists of transport-module, distributor, horizontal/vertical changer and controller for the 7th generation glass panel (2,200mm in width, 1,870mm in length and 0.7mm in thickness). The design technology developed in this study can be effectively applied to a conveyor system for a larger-scaled thin glass panel.

  • The effect of dopant and stoichiometry on the optical properties of LiNbO3 were studies. We prepared three samples, which are undoped, MgO doped LiNbO3 and near-stoichiometric LiNbO3 dielectric constant and transmittance in UV/VIS/IR light range were measured. The results showed that the features for high [Li]/[Nb] were similar to those for low [Li]/[Nb] but with high [Mg].

Growth of TiO$_2$(rutile) single crystals by FZ method under high oxygen pressure (고산소압의 적용에 따른 양질의 루틸상 TiO$_2$ 단결정 성장)

  • High oxygen pressure has been applied for a floating zone (FZ) crystal grower in order to grow high quality $TiO_2$(rutile) single crystals suitable for optical application. The $TiO_2$ crystals, grown under 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, and 0.8MPa oxygen pressure respectively, are all transparent and dark blue. The degree of the presence of sub-grain boundary in the crystal differs from the applied oxygen pressure. In particular, $TiO_2$ single crystals grown under0.5 MPa showed sub-grain boundary-free and estimated good for optical devices.

  • [ $Ba(Zr_{0.08}Ti_{0.92})O_3$ ] polycrystal was grown by floating zone technique with two ellipsoidal mirrors using the $8\%$of Zr-modified BZT ceramics as both a feed rod and a seed crystal. In order to study the annealing effect, a part of the grown crystal was sliced and annealed in the oxygen atmosphere at $1,200^{\circ}C$ for 10 h. The dielectric constant and loss at 10 kHz, 100 kHz, and 1 MHz were measured in the temperature range between $-100^{\circ}C$ and $150^{\circ}C$ to investigate the dielectric properties of the grown polycrystal. The electric-field dependence of the dielectric constant at 10 kHz and 100 kHz was studied by measuring the dielectric constants as a function of the biased-electric fields which ran from -15 kV/cm to 15 kV/cm. Due to the effect of annealing in the oxygen atmosphere, the electric-field tunability of dielectric constants increased from $47.5\%$ to 5 to and the figure of merit for this material from 39.6 to 46.4. Since the figure of merit can be increased to more than 46.4 by increasing the maximum value of the biased-electric fields to more than 15 V/cm, this material nay have a possibility for applications in microwave tuning devices at room temperature.

  • Recently, porous ceramic materials with anti-static performance are urgently needed for semiconductor and OLED/LCD display manufacturing industry. In this work, we fabricated porous titanium manganese oxide ceramics having the surface resistivity of $10^8-10^{10}$ ohm and enhanced mechanical strength by partial sintering method using nanosized titanium oxide. By addition of nano-sized titanium oxide in the matrix, neck formation between grains was strengthened, which remarkably increased flexural strength up to 170 MPa (@porosity: 15 %), 110 MPa (@porosity: 31 %), compared to 80 MPa (@porosity: 26 %) for pristine titanium manganese oxide ceramics. We evaluated the performances of our ceramics as air-floating module for OLED flexible display manufacturing devices.

Crystal Growth of Yb:YAG by Floating Zone Method and Their Optical Properties (부유대용융법에 의한 Yb-YAG 단결정 성장 및 광특성)

  • Yb/YAG single crystals were grown from the melt composition of Y/sub 1-x/Yb/sub x/)₃Al/sub 5/O/sub 12/ where x equal to 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 33, 50, 75 and 100 at % by floating zone method. Optimum growth parameters to get high quality single crystals were 3.5 mm/h of growth rate and 20 rpm of rotation rate under the N₂ atmosphere. After the growth, color of crystals was appeared with pale blue due to the lack of oxygen, but it was disappeared after annealing at 1450℃ for 2 hr. Absorption coefficients were linearly increased depending on the concentration of Yb/sup 3+/ ions. Broad emission band was measured in the range of 1020 to 1050 nm with the peak intensity at 1031 nm and 1051 nm because of ²F/sub 5/2/(1)→²F/sub 7/2/(3) and ²F/sub 5/2/(1)→²F/sub 7/2/(4) transition respectively. When Yb/sup 3+/ ions were substituted with high rates, there were tendency to decrease the measured fluorescent lifetime for Yb ions depending on the concentration of Yb/sup 3+/ ions.

GROWTH OF THE SUBSTRATE CRYSTALS FOR $La_{2-x}Sr_xCuO_4$ THICK FILMS

  • Single crystal of Li2Cu1-xMxO4 (M=Ni, Zn) are promising as a substrate to realize superconducting electronic devices. The distribution coefficients of Ni and Zn to the Cu site in La2CuO4 (LCO) were estimated by the zone melting technique to grow high quality single crystals of La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni, Zn). The distribution coefficient value of Ni was estimated to be 4.2 and that of Zn was estimated to be 0.66, respectively. Suitable solvent compositions were determined using these values to grow single crystals by he traveling floating zone (TSFZ) method. Single crystal of LCO, La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04), Zn(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03) of high homogeneity were grown. The behaviors of the magnetization of these as-grown crystals do not indicate superconductivity except LCO. Ni or Zn substitution can make LCO non superconductor. This fact suggest that single crystals substituted by Ni or Zn are useful as substrate crystals.
