Information presented in this study is intended to inform candidates as they prepare to design and structure the floatovoltaics solar power system. A developed floatovoltaics solar power generation results from the combination of PV plant technology and PV floating technology. This floating-based PV system is a new concept for PV development. The PV floating technology opens new opportunities to give value to unused areas so far while preserving valuable land for more adapted activities. Therefore the land-use conflicts are avoided and the environmental impact is minimized. Therefore the technology offers an interesting opportunity to regions facing on drought during summer time without any negative impact to the eco-system. This study describe the basic components of a floatovoltaics solar power system. A typical system consist of floating system and solar modules, a control device, rechargeable batteries, a load or device and the associated electrical connections. The floating system is specifically designed to keep all metallic components above water leaving only 100% recyclable, closed cell foam filled HDPE plastic floats in contact with the water. As the first case that can maximize the power generation efficiency of PV internationally, it is expected that this study will be utilized as a primary guide for future development of floating type PV system.

This study is about the connector of the floating platform in order to ensure safety due to various climate changes. The purpose of this study is to recommend the connector model of floating platform based on concrete structures after reviewing the literatures related in establishing floating structure in case of various climate changes in domestic coast. This study introduces the concept generation, existing model, detailed design and evaluation including current and future development of the technologies of marina floating platform connector based on concrete structures. The results from the research show that the analysed connector design (Rigid Pontoon Connector) provides a highly efficient and practical solution to facilitate connection of stable floating platform.
Pumps for a turbopump generally operate under high rotational speeds and large head rise conditions. Therefore, reliability is a prime design requirement. Floating-ring type seals are frequently employed in a turbopump because of robustness despite of low hydraulic efficiency. There are many researches on the floating-ring seal itself, but the effects of the floating ring seals on the performance of the whole pump are not widely studied in spite of their importance. In the present study, experimental and computational studies on the effects of the radial clearance of the floating ring seals on the performance of a pump were performed. The experimental results showed that the head rise and efficiency increased as the floating-ring seal clearance was decreased. The results also showed the possibility that the leakage flow which was injected to the inlet of the inducer could enhance the suction performance of the inducer by diminishing the size of the backflows.

Given the rapid progress made in understanding the dynamics of an offshore floating body in an ocean environment, the present study aimed to simulate ocean waves in a small-sized wave flume and to observe the motion of a cylindrical floating body placed in an offshore environment. To generate regular ocean waves in a wave flume, we combined a wave generator and a wave absorber. In addition, to precisely visualise the oscillation of the body, a set of light-emitting diode illuminators and a high-speed charge-coupled device camera were installed in the flume. This study also focuses on the spectral analysis of the movement of the floating body. The wave generator and absorbers worked well to simulate stable regular waves. In addition, the simulated waves agreed well with the plane waves predicted by shallow-water theory. As the period of the oncoming waves changed, the movement of the floating body was substantially different when tethered to a tension-leg mooring cable. In particular, when connected to the tension-leg mooring cable, the natural frequency of the floating body appeared suddenly at 0.391 Hz as the wave period increased.

A floating-type wave power pump is a device which sends air into water by using wave power. The floating-type wave power pump has the new configuration composed of a curved surface reflection board, a slope, and phase plates. As a result of a water-tank experiment it turned out that the floating-type wave power pump with a curved surface reflection board and a slope raised power and efficiency in the wide wavelength waves. The result of a marine experiment was also preferable. The floating-type wave power pump sends air into the sea by using wave power, so it can be used for the improvement of marine environment. In addition, the floating body constituted of a curved surface reflection board, a slope, and phase plates, is effective as a device to utilize the energy of a wave. Therefore, it can be widely used for a wave power generation, pumping up deep seawater.

The floating ring seal which is used in the high pressure turbo pump is frequently used in the oxidizer pump and the fuel pump of the turbo pump of the liquid propulsion rocket, because it is able to minimize clearance to decrease the leakage flow rate. Compared with contact seal, the floating ring seal has advantage of minimizing clearance without rubbing phenomenon. But, the floating ring seal has a tendency to increase instability in operating condition in the high speed region. In this research, we devised floating ring seal which is inserted bump in the outer surface in order to improve the stability in the high speed region. Through this work, we expect to improve stability of floating ring seal with increasing the direct damping coefficient of seal and decreasing the eccentricity ratio.
In this paper, the mooring system for a floating wave energy farm is designed based on a two-dimensional analysis. The mooring system uses an anchorless mooring line linking two floaters in a floating wave energy farm. The basic equation to determine the length of the mooring line between the two floaters is proposed. The other properties such as the diameter and pretension are taken from the mooring line for a single floater. The dynamic behavior and safety of the designed mooring system under extreme ocean conditions are analyzed with the commercial software Orcaflex. A numerical study shows the stability and high safety in tension of the designed mooring lines for a floating wave energy farm. The proposed anchorless mooring system for a floating wave energy farm results in a considerable reduction in the length of the mooring line, contributing to the economics of a floating wave energy farm.
Background: To understand the ecological characteristics of floating mat in which endangered species of Iris laevigata and Menyanthes trifoliata inhabit, we surveyed the vegetation and water environments of a floating mat wetland and examined the relations between ecological characteristics of the mat. Results: Although Phragmites australis and Zizania latifolia were found at all experimental quadrats (n = 61) as the major vegetational components of the floating mat wetland, they showed relatively poor growth performances in terms of shoot height (< 2 m) and biomass production (<$300g/m^2$) compared with those in soil-based wetlands because of oligotrophic water condition. The competitiveness and distribution of P. australis and Z. latifolia seemed to be determined by water level difference by micro-topography rather than water chemistry. Conclusion: P. australis and endangered plant species mainly occurred in the area of relatively shallow water, whereas Z. latifolia and deep-water species such as Scirpus fluviatilis mostly inhabit in the area of deep water on the floating mat. Continuously maintained water level and oligotrophic water condition in the floating mat appeared to be important environments for endangered species such as I. laevigata and M. trifoliata.
For floating buildings may fl oat on the water for a long time, they are constantly affected by various environmental loads such as wind and wave loads. In this study to find the wave effect on the floating building, five models are designed using steel moment resisting frame. It is assumed that the lower part of the floating building is a reinforced concrete pontoon, while the upper part is a three-story steel frame. To analyze floating buildings affected by wind and wave loads, hydro-dynamic and substructure analysis are performed. As input loads, this study set limits that the mean wind velocity is 35 m/s and the significant wave height is 0.5 m for the residential building. From the hydrodynamic analysis, the time-history acceleration of building is obtained and transformed into a base ground input for a substructure analysis of the superstructure of the building. Finally the mean of the maximum from 30 dynamic analysis of the floating buildings are used to be compared with the results of the same model on the ground. It was shown that the dynamic results with wind and wave loads are not always lesser than the static results which are calculated with static equivalent wind load for a building that is located on the ground.
Floating solar power markets are rapidly growing worldwide. The main policy instrument utilized to expand renewable energy use in foreign countries with many floating solar power installations is Feed-in-Tariffs (FITs). Foreign countries apply FIT to projects that have a secured grid connection, and lately, there has been a change in the direction of introducing or expanding auction systems. Vietnam and Taiwan give higher FIT to floating solar installations than land solar ones, and China, Vietnam, and Taiwan have higher FITs for certain regions. Compared to foreign countries where large-scale floating solar power installations have been installed, Korea has utilized Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) weights for residents' participation are provided additionally under the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). In contrast to Korea, where residents' participation and benefit profit sharing are emphasized, the Netherlands provides opportunities for local residents to participate in floating solar power projects through cooperatives to improve the residents' acceptance.
