The Preparation for a flight test of the launch vehicle to verify the performance of the liquid rocket engine(LRE) is proceeding. Flight test of liquid rocket engine costs an enormous amount of money, has a restriction on measurement channels, so it requires the optimal measurement plan to check the prelaunch operation and determine the cause of abnormal situation. This paper surveys the foreign sources for LRE flight test. In recent years, as the tendency to eliminate all faults of LRE at the ground test the number of flight test is decreasing and in contrast, the number of measurements and measurement accuracy is increasing. This paper may be used as a reference for the preparation of an LRE flight test.
The aviation safety policy master plan is promoting the development of aviation safety management technology applying the 4th industrial revolution technology with the goal of establishing a flawless aviation safety management system and establishing a future aviation safety infrastructure. The master plan includes the establishment of various aviation safety management systems such as aircraft fault management using AI & Big data and flight training system using VR/AR. Currently, the Air Force is promoting a flight safety management system using new technology under the goal of building smart air force. Therefore, this study intends to apply the 4th Industrial Revolution technology to the aircraft condition check system that finally checks the safety of the aircraft before flight. The Air Force conducts airframe flaw checks and pre-flight aircraft check. In this study, we architect the airframe flaw check system using AI and drones, and the pre-flight aircraft condition check system using the IoT and big data for more precise and detailed check of aircraft condition and flawlessness check.
In this paper, the activities of North America to enhance the flight safety of helicopter were introduced. In North America, by 2009, 49% of worldwide civil helicopters are in operation. The development trends of North America to enhance the flight safety of helicopter are expected to have a significant impact to the other helicopter operating areas. The analysis of the case of Gulf of Mexico where large fleet of Helicopter in operations, FAA's NextGen program, and the Canadian plan to comply with the ICAO's Aviation System Block Upgrades plan shows the direction of helicopter avionic development for enhancing the flight safety of helicopter.

Drone images are being used more and more actively in the fields of surveying and spatial information, and are rapidly replacing existing aerial and satellite images. The technology of quickly acquiring real-time data at low cost and processing it is now being applied to actual industries beyond research. However, there are also problems encountered as this progresses. When high-resolution spatial information is acquired using a general 2D flight plan for a terrain with sever undulations, problems arise due to the difference in resolution of the data. In particular, when a low-altitude high-resolution image is taken using a drone in a mountainous or steep terrain, there may be a problem in image matching due to a resolution difference caused by terrain undulations. This problem occurs because a drone acquires data while flying on a 2D plane at a fixed altitude, just like conventional aerial photography. In order to acquire high-quality 3D data using a drone, the scale difference for the shooting distance should be considered. In addition, in order to obtain facade images of large structures, it is necessary to take images in 3D space. In this study, in order to improve the disadvantages of the 2D flight method, a 3D flight plan was established for the study area, and it was confirmed that high-quality 3D spatial information could be obtained in this way.

IPresented is a small and handy remotely piloted vehicle(RPV) that can be used for military and non-military surveillance operations. The RPV is equipped with an on-board high resolution color camera to transmit the analog video images and on-board electronics to provide real-time flight information to the pilot, thereby enabling him/her to remotely pilot within the range of 5 km radius. This paper describes the RPV system including its design, manufacturing and flight test results which manifest the stability of on-board mission and flight equipment as well as the remote piloting capability. A future plan for necessary improvements identified from the flight tests are also discussed.
The ICAO (International civil aviation organization)recommended the implementation of the GANP (global air navigation plan) for strategic decision-making and air traffic management evaluation. In this study, we proposed a new method for finding the route distance from KPI (key performance indicator) 05 actual route extension presented for air traffic management evaluation. For this purpose, we collected trajectory data for one month and calculated the en-route distances using the methods presented in ICAO and the methods presented by this author. In the ICAO method, the intersection point must be estimated through the equation of a circle for radius 40 NM and the equation of a straight line for an inner and outer point close to a circle in the track data, and four flight distances are calculated to calculate the en-route distance. In the method presented in this study, two flight distances are calculated without estimating the intersection point to calculate the en-route distance. To determine the error between the two methods, we used the performance evaluation index RMSE (root mean square error) and the determination factor R2 of the regression model.
Purpose This paper aims to prepare a full operational readiness by establishing an optimal flight plan considering the weather conditions in order to effectively perform the mission and operation of military aircraft. This paper suggests a flight prediction model and rules by analyzing the correlation between flight implementation and cancellation according to weather conditions by using big data collected from historical flight information of military aircraft supplied by Korean manufacturers and meteorological information from the Korea Meteorological Administration. In addition, by deriving flight rules according to weather information, it was possible to discover an efficient flight schedule establishment method in consideration of weather information. Design/methodology/approach This study is an analytic study using data mining techniques based on flight historical data of 44,558 flights of military aircraft accumulated by the Republic of Korea Air Force for a total of 36 months from January 2013 to December 2015 and meteorological information provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration. Four steps were taken to develop optimal flight prediction models and to derive rules for flight implementation and cancellation. First, a total of 10 independent variables and one dependent variable were used to develop the optimal model for flight implementation according to weather condition. Second, optimal flight prediction models were derived using algorithms such as logistics regression, Adaboost, KNN, Random forest and LightGBM, which are data mining techniques. Third, we collected the opinions of military aircraft pilots who have more than 25 years experience and evaluated importance level about independent variables using Python heatmap to develop flight implementation and cancellation rules according to weather conditions. Finally, the decision tree model was constructed, and the flight rules were derived to see how the weather conditions at each airport affect the implementation and cancellation of the flight. Findings Based on historical flight information of military aircraft and weather information of flight zone. We developed flight prediction model using data mining techniques. As a result of optimal flight prediction model development for each airbase, it was confirmed that the LightGBM algorithm had the best prediction rate in terms of recall rate. Each flight rules were checked according to the weather condition, and it was confirmed that precipitation, humidity, and the total cloud had a significant effect on flight cancellation. Whereas, the effect of visibility was found to be relatively insignificant. When a flight schedule was established, the rules will provide some insight to decide flight training more systematically and effectively.

Defense Systems Test Center in ADD supports increasingly various missile test requirements such as higher altitude event, multi target operation and low-altitude, high velocity target tracking. In this paper, we have proposed the development of instrumentation radar tracking status simulator based on virtual reality. This simulator can predict the tracking status and risk of failure using several modeling algorithms. It consists of target model, radar model, environment model and several algorithms includes the multipath interference effects. Simulation results show that the predict tracking status and signal are similar to the test results of the live flight test. This simulator predicts and analyze all of the status and critical parameters such as the optimal site location, servo response, optimal flight trajectory, LOS(Line of Sight). This simulator provides the mission plan with a powerful M&S tool to rehearse and analyze instrumentation tracking radar measurement plan for live flight test at DSTC(Defense Systems Test Center).

Trajectory modeling is foundational for 4D-Route modeling, conflict detection and air traffic flow management. This paper proposes a novel algorithm based Vincenty's fomulas for trajectory calculation, combined with the Dijkstra algorithm and Vincenty's formulas. Using flight plan simulations our experimental results show that our method of En-route trajectory calculation exhibits much improved performance in accuracy.
The ground integration test of Smart UAV has been performed according to the flight test plan. The flight test of full scaled model will be performed followed by 4 DOF ground rig test and a tethered hover test. Smart UAV is the first indigenous tiltrotor aircraft which can fly with fast cruise speed and take off or land vertically. In order to prove the flight control law of Smart UAV, the 40% scaled airplane was developed and have been tested. During flight test of small scaled model, many unique and unexpected problems occurred. After clearing these problems, fully automatic flight test was performed successfully. The experiences about many trouble shooting and resolving the problems would be basic material to avoid the unexpected but similar flight test problems hidden behind of the full scaled Smart UAV. This paper presents the detailed procedures of trouble shootings to solve the unique problems which occurred during the flight test of small scaled tiltrotor UAV.
