  • We will discuss and compare the different ways to manufacture high performance Barix coated barrier films as a substrate for displays: R2R vs Batch. It will be shown that the barrier performance of the Barix coating on plastic can be as good as on glass substrates. More then 1000 hrs of testing at 60C/90RH can be passed without degradation of Ca samples

  • We have developed $EPLaR^{TM}$, a new way of making flexible electrophoretic displays. The TFTs have the same good performance, reliability and mature manufacturing processes as TFTs used in LCD monitors and LCD-TVs. We are working with partners to show that plastic displays can be made in existing TFT-LCD factories alongside glass LCDS. In this talk we describe the EPLaR process and show results for TFT arrays on plastic made in a factory by standard ${\alpha}$-Si TFT processing.

  • This paper presents a method for the automatic generation of assembly sequences based on the recursive extraction of a preferred part along with the verification of its disassemblability. To verify the disassemblability of the part we inference the geometric precedence constraints using a method of extracting separable directions for the part and determine the disassemblability cost by the separability and stability cost. The proosed method provides a local optimal solution of finding a cost effective assembly plan, and the feasibility of calculating robot motion programs by evaluating separable directions in flexible manufacturing application. A case study is given to illustrate the concepts and procedure of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper deals with the scheduling and simulation for FMC(Flexible Manufacturing Cells). In order to achieve CIM, there is a critical need to link factory level and machine level. The primary functions performed by this link for all jobs issued to the shop floor and cell include short-term scheduling and dynamic operational scheduling. Here, hierarchical control structure is introduced to define these functions. And Intelligent scheduling through expert module is adopted for efficiency of FMC operation. Computer simulation reveals that expert scheduling method is better than heuristics in various performance index.

  • The grouping of parts into families and machines into cells poses an important problem for the improvement of productivity and quality in the design and planning of the flexible manufacturing system(FMS). This paper proposes a new algorithm of forming machine-part groups in case of the bottleneck machine problem and shows the numerical example. This algorithm could be applied to the large scale machine-part grouping problem.

  • This paper describes a transfer matrix approach to analyze the dynamics of a high sped flexible rotor system supported at 2 positions by five ceramic bearings. The rotor system is modelled as lumped parameters in which many factors are considered not only lumped inertia or mass, bending moment, shear force but also gyroscopic effect and unbalance. The equation of motion is derived in the transfer matrix form, from which the eigenvalues equation is also derived. The transfer natural frequencies and modes. The eigenvalues, eigenmodes, campbell diagram, whirling critical speed, whirling modes, and the response of unbalance are calculated and discussed.

  • Motion control system using motor generally consists of 2 inertio system, motor inertio and load inertio linked with flexible coupling. In the case of direct drive motor control, the effect of coupling inertio decrease the precision performance. The study is about semiclosed control scheme of the system and experimental setup. To compensate the effect of coupling inertio, semiclosed control system by disturbance observer is employed. The simulation result is shown.

  • 패트리네트는 시스템의 관계를 시작적으로 보여주어 시스템의 모델링을 쉽게 만든다. 시스템의 각 부분에 관한 정보를 가지고 전체와 부분에 대하여 하향식(top-down)과 상향식(bottom-up) 설계를 할 수 있게 해준다. 패트리네트는 그래프 표현이므로 FMS(flexible manufacturing systems)등과 같은 실시간 제어(real-time control)의 구현에 사용될 수 있으며 토큰 정보로부터 시스템의 각 부분의 상태를 실시간 감시(monitoring)할 수 있다. 패트리네트는 PLC(programmable logic controller)와 같이 여러 요소시스템(subsystem)을 순서대로 동작시키고 조정한다. 시스테메 대한 페트리네트 모델로부터 시뮬레이션(simulation)을 할 수 있고, 이로부터 성능 평가를 할 수 있다.

  • Generally scheduling papers focused on the processing time only. But this paper intend to develope the scheduling problem which deal with the precessing time, transport time between machine and processing cost in a flexible manufacturing system(FMS) simultaneously. And this work considers a releasing, loading and alternative routing problem together. As a case study, numerical example is demonstrated to show the simplicity and the effectiveness of the proposed model.
