  • The decision making process for production planning in FMS usually involves multiple conflicting objectives and criteria. This study consists of prescreening and analytical phase. In the prescreening phase, criteria are used to reduce the set of alternative system configuration down to a small number of candidates. After this phase, a multiobjected programming model is formulated for each remainning configuration.

  • This paper suggests a method for developing computer code that can solve inverse heat conduction problem, The concept of the object-oriented development is employed to implement the computer code in an efficient and flexible fashion. The software design is conducted based on the unified modeling language. Furthermore, this paper also explains how to implement the deliverable computer code using the existing software development tools.

  • 생산시스템의 효율적 설계/구축/운용에 상용 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어가 최근 급속히 이용되고 있다. 특히 복잡한 논리에 의해 제어되는 FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System)의 시뮬레이션에서는 동적인 상태변화의 파악이 중요하며, 거의 유사한 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 조합에 의해 시스템이 구축될 수 있다는 특징을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FMS모델 구축에 필요한 구성요소를 갖추고 있는 상용시뮬레이션 소프트웨어를 생산시스템 구축 및 운용모델 설계에 이용한 사례를 소개하고자 한다.

  • This paper deals with the production scheduling problems of a dedicated Flexible Manufacturing System. In this work, a new mathematical formulation is proposed and two heuristic algorithms which can generate real-time schedules are suggested. Example problems to demonstrate the good performance and the validity of these two proposed algorithms are also included.

  • Due-date is an important factor in Flexible Manufacturing System scheduling. Even though most of researchers have focused part selection and loading problem using fixed due-date assignment rules, FMSs consist of multi-function machines which facilitate alternative processes. This research investigates interactions of three dispatching mechanisms, three NSS (Next Station Selection) rules and four due-date assignment rules using simulation. Both cost-based and time-based performance measures are considered in this research.

  • 현대의 생산환경에서 널리 사용되고 있는 생산시스템의 형태는 FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System, 유연생산 시스템)로, FMS 는 다품종 소량생산과 생산성 향상이라는 두 가지 목표에 가장 적합한 형태라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 FMS에는 시스템의 효율을 저하시키는 blocking, starving, deadlock 등이 존재하며 이들의 영향을 줄이고자 재공재고의 일시적 저장공간인 버퍼를 설치하게 된다. 시스템내의 제약으로 인해 버퍼의 총 용량은 제한적이므로, 효율적인 버퍼관리는 시스템 성능 향상을 가능하게 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 FMS의 각 Workstation의 작업량을 고려한 버퍼 할당을 통해 시스템 효율 향상을 추구하고, 시뮬레이션 과정을 통해 검증해 보고자 한다.

  • The objective of this paper is to present a framework for an expert system for fault diagnosis in an FMS (Flexible Manufacturing Systyem). First, a system is analyzed structurally and functionally, giving the relationships between the system's components. These relationships, represented by strata, are are then stored in a deep knowledge base (DKB). Next, the specific knowledge, represented by echelons, about the symptoms and their probable causes for each component is stored in a shallow knowledge base (SKB) in the form of rule. When the fault diagnosis process begins, it starts to search the DKB and then the SKB, which is called hybrid reasoning in artificial intelligence.

Loading and Routing Problems for Schedulability in a Flexible Manufacturing Environment

  • With the advances in concurrent engineering, schedulability has become an important design issue in machine loading and routing procedure. In this paper, four rules to improve schedulability of loading and routing are formulated as a mixed-integer programming model based on machine, routing and tool flexibilities. In this model, these rules are represented as an objective function or constraints. The impact of rules on the quality of schedules for the result of loading and routing is measured with makespan, throughput and average machine utilization.
