  • Functions of the compression ring plate fixed at the concrete side wall are to connect and support the steel roof plate. It should be designed to endure stably all the loads such as weight of steel roof, inner pressure and concrete weight. Behavior of the compression ring during construction has been analyzed by the finite element method and real measured data. Additionally, on the basis of results from parametric study of design variables for the steel roof a more reasonable design method for the compression ring has been proposed.

  • Let R be a non-commutative prime ring and I a non-zero left ideal of R. Let U be the left Utumi quotient ring of R and C be the center of U and k, m, n, r fixed positive integers. If there exists a generalized derivation g of R such that $[g(x^m)x^n,\;x^r]_k\;=\;0$ for all x $\in$ I, then there exists a $\in$ U such that g(x) = xa for all x $\in$ R except when $R\;{\cong}\;=M_2$(GF(2)) and I[I, I] = 0.

  • Let m, n, r be nonzero fixed positive integers, R a 2-torsion free prime ring, Q its right Martindale quotient ring, and L a non-central Lie ideal of R. Let D : $R{\rightarrow}R$ be a skew derivation of R and $E(x)=D(x^{m+n+r})-D(x^m)x^{n+r}-x^mD(x^n)x^r-x^{m+n}D(x^r)$. We prove that if $E(x)=0$ for all $x{\in}L$, then D is a usual derivation of R or R satisfies $s_4(x_1,{\ldots},x_4)$, the standard identity of degree 4.

  • The pin-gear drive is a special form of fixed-axle gear mechanism. A large wheel with cylindrical pin teeth is called a pinwheel. As pinwheels are rounded, they have a simple structure, easy processing, low cost, and easy overhaul compared with general gears. They are also suitable for low-speed, heavy-duty mechanical transmission and for occasions with more dust, poor lubrication, etc. This paper introduces a novel slewing ring bearing with an external pinwheel gear set (e-PGS). First, we consider the exact cam pinion profile of the e-PGS with the introduction of a profile shift. Then, the contact stresses are investigated to determine the characteristics of the surface fatigue by varying the shape design parameters. The results show that the contact stresses of the e-PGS can be lowered significantly by increasing the profile shift coefficient.

  • We show that the microstrip ring with a narrow gap exhibits a photonic band gap (PBG) that is generally believed to be created by a periodic array. The discontinuity of impedance at the narrow gap induces the multiple reflections with fixed phase correlation necessary to make the PBG. We have also discussed the tuning of the PBG frequency by applying an external voltage on a varactor mounted on the gap and the applications of this PBG ring as a tunable bandstop filter and a microwave switch.

  • A new conceptual wave rolling ball reducer was proposed and investigated. The main components of the reducer were a eccentric input shaft and bearings, followers with balls, a flange, and a outer ring with waved groove. Followers moved along the holes of the flange according to the rotation of the shaft. And the balls installed in tips of followers were rolled with the waved groove of outer ring. When the shaft was rotated as one revolution and the outer ring was fixed, the flange was rotated as one wave. The kinematic analysis of the reducer carried out. The forces of each components were estimated, and the main design parameters were investigated. The design program using Visual C++ and Auto Lisp to determine the design parameters and to generate the drawing sheet.

  • Owing to their unique properties originating from slidable cross-links, polyrotaxane derivatives have potential applications as polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, lightweight polymer alloys for vehicular bodies and their glazing, elastic rubbers for tires, hydrogels for drug delivery. This article reviews the structures of polyrotaxanes comprising cyclic molecules threaded by a linear axle polymer. Next, the versatile characteristics of polyrotaxane gels, elastomers, and polymer alloys such as toughness, elasticity, and softness are discussed in relation to their supramolecular architectures. Finally, the mechanical behavior of solid ring cross-links are compared with that of conventional fixed cross-links for better understanding.

  • In the present paper a result [10] of the authors has been generalized as follows: Let l, m, n be fixed positive integers and R be a semi prime ring in which $[(xy)^l,(xy)^m-(yx)^n]=0$ for all $x,y{\in}R$, then R is commutative.
