건강증진프로그램이 아이돌보미 여성의 건강행위에 대한 인지, 체력 및 신체조성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of a Health Promotion Program on Perception of Health Behavior, Physical Fitness and Body Composition in Child Care Helpers)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to determine the effects of a health promotion program on perception of health behavior, physical fitness, and body composition in child care helpers. Methods: The study had a one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Data were collected from 38 child care helpers from July 6 to November 9, 2013. The health promotion program consisted of health education, self-exercise, encouragement, and identification. The following data were collected perception(perceived benefit, barrier, and self-efficacy), physical fitness(balance, grasp power, and flexibility), and body composition(body mass index, body fat ratio, waist circumference, and basal metabolic rate) and analysis was performed using on SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: Self-efficacy showed a significant increased. Body mass index, body fat ratio, and waist circumference showed a significant decreased. No significant difference in perceived benefit, barrier, physical fitness, and basal metabolic rate was observed between pre-test and post-test. Conclusion: This health promotion program had an effect on self-efficacy and body composition in child care helpers. Therefore, this health promotion program for child care helpers can be recommended as an effective nursing intervention.

Correlation between BMI and Physical Fitness of College Women in Seoul

  • This study investigated the correlation of the physical measurements and the basic physical fitness of 158 female students in the city of Seoul. The average age of the subjects was 22.0 ${\pm}$ 0.13 years old, the average height was 160.9 ${\pm}$ 0.7cm and the average weight was 53.4 ${\pm}$ 0.6kg. The mean BMI (Body Mass Index) was 20.7 ${\pm}$ 0.2kg/㎡. The average muscle mass was 36.5 ${\pm}$ 0.3 and the average body fat percentage was 28.0 ${\pm}$ 0.4%. The basic fitness levels of the subjects were measured based on the evaluation chart of the Korea Health and Science Research Institution (1994). The subjects were divided into 3 groups based on BMI(Group I : BMI < 20, Group II : 20 $\leq$ BMI < 25, Group III BMI $\geq$ 25) and the correlation between BMI and physical fitness was assessed. 1) The muscle strength of the subjects was measured by their grip strength, among other tests. Groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “su” (level 1) and group 3 was “woo” (level 2). 2) Endurance 1 was tested by push-ups, and while groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “su” (level 1), group 3 was “ga” (level 5). This result did not suggest any significant relevance among the subjects. 3) Endurance 2 was tested by sit-ups : groups 1 and 2 were evaluated as “mi” (level 3) and group 3 as “yang” (level 4). Group 2 and group 3 showed a significant difference. 4) Instant power was tested by standing high jumps, and although there was a significant difference between group 1 and group 3, all of the subjects were evaluated as “ga” (level 5). 5) Flexibility was measured by how far the subjects could bend forward. There was no significant relevance between the groups and they were all respectively evaluated as “woo” (level 2). 6) Agility was tested with side-steps and all the subjects showed poor agility as “yang” (level 4). 7) Heart and lung endurance was tested by the step test, calculating the maximum oxygen intake with the Physical Energy Index (PEI) and using the numbers according to the evaluation chart. Group 1 was evaluated as “mi” (level 3) and groups 2 and 3 were “woo” (level 2). From these results, we could see the group III (obese group) had a tendency of lower levels in all the variables related to body fitness They showed significantly lower endurance assessed with time for sit-ups and instant power by the standing high jumps. 12주간의 순환운동이 노인비만여성의 비만, 체력 및 대사증후군 지표에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of 12 Weeks of Circuit Exercise on Obesity, Physical Fitness and Metabolic Syndrome Index in Elderly Obese Women)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 12주간의 순환운동이 노인비만여성의 비만, 체력 및 대사증후군 지표에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 시도되었다. 65세 이상 체질량지수 25이상의 여성 자원자 총19명을 대상으로 12주간의 순환운동 프로그램을 실시하였으며, 운동 프로그램은 가벼운 유산소 운동과 스트레칭으로 준비운동을 실시 한 후 주 3회의 빈도로 매회 30분씩 12주 동안 순환운동 프로그램을 실시하였다. 12주간의 순환운동 프로그램 실시 후, 참가 전에 비해 참가 후의 체중과 체질량지수(p<.001)가 감소되었으며, 체력측정항목에서 하지근력(p<.001)과 상지 근력(p<.05), 상지 유연성(p<.05)과 하지연성(p<.05), 민첩성/동적평형성(p<.001), 전신지구력(p<.05)의 총 6개 모든 항목에서 유의한 향상이 있었고, 대사증후군 지표인 복부비만(p<.01), 수축기혈압(p<.05), 중성지방(p<.001), 고밀도 지단백(p<.01), 혈당(p<.05) 등 이완기 혈압을 제외한 모든 측정항목에서도 12주간의 순환운동 후 운동 참가 전에 비해 유의한 향상이 있었다. 결론적으로 12주간의 순환운동이 노인비만여성에 있어 체중감소와 체력향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 대사증후군 지표의 개선에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

Damage-based optimization of large-scale steel structures

  • A damage-based seismic design procedure for steel frame structures is formulated as an optimization problem, in which minimization of the initial construction cost is treated as the objective of the problem. The performance constraint of the design procedure is to achieve "repairable" damage state for earthquake demands that are less severe than the design ground motions. The Park-Ang damage index is selected as the seismic damage measure for the quantification of structural damage. The charged system search (CSS) algorithm is employed as the optimization algorithm to search the optimum solutions. To improve the time efficiency of the solution algorithm, two simplifying strategies are adopted: first, SDOF idealization of multi-story building structures capable of estimating the actual seismic response in a very short time; second, fitness approximation decreasing the number of fitness function evaluations. The results from a numerical application of the proposed framework for designing a twelve-story 3D steel frame structure demonstrate its efficiency in solving the present optimization problem.

중년남성의 복합운동프로그램에 따른 신체구성, 건강관련체력 및 혈중지질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Combined Exercise Program on Body Composition, Health-Related Fitness and Blood Lipid in Middle-Aged Man)

  • 본 연구는 중년남성 10명을 대상으로 준비운동, 저항운동, 수중운동 그리고 정리운동 순으로 구성된 복합운동프로그램을 1일 60분씩 주 4회의 빈도로 12주간 실시하여 대상자들의 실험전과 후의 변인들을 비교, 분석한 결과 신체구성 성분인 체지방율, 제지방량, 신체질량지수는 각각 유의하게 감소(p<.01)하였으며, 건강관련 체력은 근력, 근지구력, 유연성에서 유의하게 증가(p<.01)하였다. 또한, 혈중지질의 경우 총 콜레스테롤, 저밀도지단백콜레스테롤, 중성지방은 유의하게 감소(p<.01)하였으며, 고밀도지단백콜레스테롤은 유의하게 증가(p<.05)하였다.

간호조직내의 팔로워십[Followership]이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of the Followership Style on the Organizational Effectiveness in Nursing Organization)

  • Purpose: The purposes of the study were to examine whether nurses' followership style influence organizational effectiveness and to test the model of organizational effectiveness including the factors of nursing organizational culture, leadership style, and followership style. Methods: Data were collected from July 10th to september 20th in 2006 from 451 nurses working in four acute care hospitals. Data analysis were performed by Chi-square test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson Correlation, and maximum likelihood estimation, using the SAS and LISREL 8.30 program. Results: The findings showed that the types of nurses' followership were classified as passive (21.1%), alienated (8.2%), conformist (16.4%), pragmatist (35.9%), and effective style (18.4%). There was significant difference in the organizational effectiveness among the nurses with different followership styles. In testing the path model, transformational, transactional leadership directly influenced followership style. Followership directly influenced organizational effectiveness. Conclusion: The overall fitness of the model was good, evidenced by general fitness index (GFI)=.94, adjusted goodness of fitness index (AGFI)=.82, and root mean square residual (RMSEA)=.06. Based on the findings, it is recommended to develop a program for enhancing effective followership in nursing organization.

Optimum design of steel frame structures considering construction cost and seismic damage

  • Minimizing construction cost and reducing seismic damage are two conflicting objectives in the design of any new structure. In the present work, we try to develop a framework in order to solve the optimum performance-based design problem considering the construction cost and the seismic damage of steel moment-frame structures. The Park-Ang damage index is selected as the seismic damage measure because it is one of the most realistic measures of structural damage. The non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is employed as the optimization algorithm to search the Pareto optimal solutions. To improve the time efficiency of the proposed framework, three simplifying strategies are adopted: first, simplified nonlinear modeling investigating minimum level of structural modeling sophistication; second, fitness approximation decreasing the number of fitness function evaluations; third, wavelet decomposition of earthquake record decreasing the number of acceleration points involved in time-history loading. The constraints of the optimization problem are considered in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) recommended seismic design specifications. The results from numerical application of the proposed framework demonstrate the efficiency of the framework in solving the present multi-objective optimization problem.

체중조절 프로그램이 성인 비만 여성의 영양소 섭취량 및 운동 능력에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Weight Control Program on Nutrient Intakes and Physical Fitness in Obese Korean Adult Women)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of weight control program on nutrient intakes and physical fitness of Korean obese adult women. The subjects of this study were 33 obese adult women aged 30-65 years residing in Seoul. The weight control program for obese women included nutrition education, cognitive behavioral therapy and exercise for 12 weeks. There were significant decrease (p < 0.001) of blood pressure and atherogenic index of obese women after the weight control program. Energy intake was significantly decreased (p < 0.001) from 1556.9kcal to 1044.9kcal after 12 weeks of the weight control program. Also protein, fat and carbohydrate intakes were significantly decreased. The ratio of energy intakes per day for the subjects was carbohydrate 64% : protein 16% : fat 20%. The frequency of vegetables intakes was significantly increased (p < 0.05) and there were no significant differences in other food groups. After the weight control program, muscle endurance, flexibility, balance and explosive muscular strength of subject's physical fitness were significantly improved. These results suggest that the weight control program for obese women may contribute to nutrient intakes reduction and improvement of physical fitness.

환경적 건강 관여 측정도구의 확인적 요인 분석 (Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Environmental Health Engagement Profile)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to review measurements of environmental health behavior and assess the construct validity of Environmental Health Engagement Profile (EHEP) through confirmatory factor analysis. Methods: The literature review was performed for selection of measurements. Confirmatory factor analysis with AMOS 19.0 was used for validation of EHEP. Results: The model fitness was not appropriate in the one-factor model; $x^2=91.11$ (df=5, p<.001), Comparative Fit Index (CFI)=8.19, Non Normed Fit Index (NNFI)=6.39, and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)=0.20. The model fitness was appropriate in the two-factor model; $x^2=3.19$ (df=1, p=.074), CFI=9.95, NNFI= 9.71, RMSEA=0.07. A modification of scale was found to be the most suitable for use in the investigation of environmental health behavior. Conclusion: This study confirms that a two-factor model underlies the concept of environmental health behavior. The review of measurements can help nurses and researchers to assess the environmental health behaviors.

Psychometric Properties of the Vocational Ability Scale in Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the psychometric properties of the vocational ability scale used in the 8th Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled in Korea by using the Rasch model. The sample data was collected from 398 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Item fitness, item difficulty, the appropriateness of the rating scale, and the separation index of the vocational ability scale were evaluated. All 15 items show an appropriate fitness level. The analysis of item difficulty indicate that modifications are required. Specifically, the need for the addition of less difficult question items is identified. The use of a 5-point rating scale is shown to decrease the test difficulty in terms of clarity and readability when appropriate and a 4-point modification is also determined as appropriate. With respect to the outcomes of the analysis, the person separation reliability value and separation index are high, and the reliability of the items is also high.
