The Effect of the Self-reflection Promotion Program in Non-face-to-face Video Classes due to COVID-19

  • This is a group pretest-posttest design study that aim to evaluate the effect of self-reflection promotion program of nursing students. The subjects of this study were 42 first-year nursing students. The data was collected from October 5 to November 2, 2020. A questionnaire was used to measure self-reflection and self-efficacy. The self-reflection promotion program was operated for a total of 8 hours in 4 sessions over 4 weeks. Online lectures were conducted using books, movies, and art recommended by expert. The subjects could take lectures using their smartphones, laptops, desktops, and tablet PC. As a result of the study, self-reflection was significantly improved after intervention than before intervention (t=-2.594, p=.013). In the sub-items, self-exploration and self-understanding were statistically significantly improved (t=-2.527, p=.015; t=-2.471, p=.018). However, other-exploration and other-understanding were not statistically significant (t=-1.226, p=.227; t=-.758, p=.453). The self-efficacy of the subjects was not statistically significant (t=-.170, p=.866). In future research, it will be necessary to develop and verify specific teaching and learning methods utilizing various contents that can improve self-reflection for nursing students.

간호학과 편입생의 대학생활 경험 (University life experience of nursing student transfer student)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 현상학적인 방법을 통해 간호학과 편입생의 대학생활 경험의 의미가 무엇인지 이해하여 본질을 추구하고 그 현상의 의미를 심층적으로 기술하고자 함이다. 본 연구의 대상자는 C시에 있는 C 대학교에 재학 중인 4년제 대학교를 졸업하고 학사학위를 소지한 자가 다시 4년제 대학교의 3학년으로 편입한 학사편입 학생 8명을 선정하였다. 연구 방법은 심층 인터뷰로 녹음테이프를 사용하여 2018년 10월부터 2019년 1월까지 자료를 수집하였다. 인터뷰 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 분석 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같은 4가지 구성요소가 도출되었다. 이질감을 느끼게 됨, 부담감 체험, 학과에 적응됨, 선택에 대한 책임. 결론으로 간호학과에 편입한 편입생들이 기존 재학생들과 이질감을 느끼지 않도록 함께 할 수 있는 해당 학과 차원의 프로그램 마련이 필요하고 편입생들이 학과 공부에 대한 부담감을 들어주기 위해 편입 초기에 선수과목 수강이나 보충지도 등을 통해 전공지식을 효율적으로 습득할 수 있는 바탕을 마련해주는 등 편입생들의 적응을 도울 수 있는 중재 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

한국 4년제 대학 간호교육의 현황과 발전방안 (The Present Situation and Future Strategies of 4-Year Nursing Baccalaureate Program)

  • One of the biggest problems of Nursing Education in Korea is the division among nursing education programs of the last 3 and 4 years. To solve this problem, Nursing community must do variable trials to achieve the unity of a 4-year educational program. With this, we need to observe the phenomena and reality of the present 4-year nursing educational program that we have. The object of this study is to analyse and discuss that we have. The object of this study is to analyse and discuss the problems and future strategies of 4-year Nursing Baccalaureate program. 1. Problems as nursing department in Medical School. 1) Many 4-year nursing baccalaureate programs are operating under the medical school as nursing department. So the academic development in nursing department is unprogressive and is not approved as unique discipline. 2) The operating system between nursing and medical department are different even though they are in the same school. 3) Inequality between nursing and medical department : In many case, the nursing professor can not attend administraion committees to discuss the medical school's operation because of many differences between nursing and medical organization. 4) Weakness of the leadership and the student activities in nursing student : The nursing student involvement is usually passive because of the difference of curriculum, less number than medical students and the difference between 4-year and 6-year education program. 5) There is the obscurity of the relationship between department of nursing and other departments in whole university. 2. Problems in nursing itself 1) We need to reconstruct nursing discipline. We must change from the disease centered model to health centered model and life cycle centered model so that we can be distinguished from medicine. We also must change from hospital centered nursing to all population centered nursing, 2) The improvement of curriculum ; When the independent framework of nursing discipline become established, we need to improve the curriculum. 3) The education of clinical practice ; Most nursing school programs are divided into professors who are lecturing the theory and clinical teachers who are teaching the nursing technique in the clinic. So, what is needed in nursing discipline is that the professors have a dual position. In America, The professor is required to be a clinical specialist and to have his or her clinic so that the professor become a good role model, teach the clinical practice effectively, and give the student the practice field. 4) To extend fields of nursing : At first, the school nurse must become the school health educator, a real teacher. The nurse must establish and operate a childern's wellbeing center or nursery school, a disabled people's house or senile's wellbeing center, a mental health center, and a health promotion clinic for healthy people. 5) The name 'nursing department' need to be considered. When the focus is to be changed from the disease model to health improvement model, we take into consideration change 'nursing college', 'nursing department' and 'nursing profession' to 'health science college' or 'health wellbeing college'. 6) We must have highly qualified academic students. Each Nursing educational faculties must have the high qualified students through the development of nursing educational program and the increment of scholarship. The Korean Nurses Association and The Korean Clinical Nurses Association need to make an endeavor for the improvement of work condition and payment of clinical nurses of hospitals who consist of 70% of all nursing manpower. 3. Improvement Strategy 1) All nursing educational program must be changed 4-year program gradually. 2) Nursing department need to try to become nursing college. 3) We need to study many researches for improvement of the problem in nursing discipline and nursing education. We need more interdisciplinary researches, and we need to be granted for that research. 4) We need to have many seminars and workshops thoughout the whole country to expand a sense of nursing education. 5) Drawing up a policies plan for the nursing educational improvement : The Korean Nurses Association, The Korean Academic Nursing Association, Korea Nursing College and department President's Committee, and Korea Academic Society of Nursing Education must try for the development of nursing educational improvement and ask for government frame the policy to develop nursing education.

일 대학 간호학생의 자기효능감, 실습만족도 및 기본간호수기술과의 관계 (A Study Related to Self-Efficacy, Satisfaction with Practice and Fundamentals of Nursing Practicum)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, satisfaction with practice and fundamentals of nursing practicum in student nurses. Method: The participants were 185 first year students at K College of Nursing in Jeonbuk Province who were taking a practicum for Fundamentals of Nursing and agreed to participate in the study. Data collection was done from November 19 to 30, 2007. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire on self-efficacy, satisfaction with practice and fundamentals of nursing practicum. Data were analyzed by SPSS-PC ver 12.0. Results: Self-efficacy and fundamentals of nursing practicum were significantly different depending on satisfaction with major and school life. Satisfaction with practice was significantly different depending on relationship with schoolmates and school life. Self-efficacy showed a significantly positive correlation with satisfaction with practice and fundamentals of nursing practicum. Also, satisfaction with practice showed a significantly positive correlation with fundamentals of nursing practicum. Conclusion: This study suggests that self-efficacy helps student nurses to plan a self-directed nursing performance, improves their ability to solve problems and helps to perform fundamentals of nursing practicum well.

간호학생을 위한 응급상황관리 시뮬레이션 실습 교과목 개발 및 적합성 평가 (Development and Applicability Evaluation of an Emergent Care Management Simulation Practicum for Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum which is for enhancing nursing students' emergent care management competency based on the Nursing Education Simulation Model. Methods: One group pre-post experimental design was conducted for evaluation of the applicability of the simulation practicum. A convenient sample of 60 senior nursing students was participated. The simulation practicum was provided for 26 hours per student at the end of the first semester of senior year. Educational practices in simulation scale, simulation design scale and learning outcomes were measured. Higher positive correlations between variables represent applicability. Descriptive analysis, paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for data analyses. Results: Among contractual components of nursing education simulation model, educational practices in simulation and simulation design (r=.80, p<.010), learning outcomes (r=.71-.28, p<.050), simulation design and learning outcomes (r=.72-.30, p<.050) were significantly correlated. Critical thinking (t=-3.63, p<.050) and problem solving competence (t=-2.55, p<.050) were significantly increased by this simulation practicum. It represents the applicability of an emergent care management simulation practicum. Conclusion: This emergent care management simulation practicum was appropriate to enhance the nursing students' emergent care management coping competency.

다수준 분석을 이용한 청소년의 다문화 수용성에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Multicultural Acceptability of Adolescents Using Multilevel Analysis)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate factors affecting multicultural acceptability of adolescents at individual and environmental levels. Methods : Participants were 2,032 first-year high school students who participated in the 4th-year Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey in 2013. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multilevel analysis. Results : Individual factors affecting multicultural acceptability of adolescents were health status, ego-resilience, and experience of visiting foreign countries. Learning activity, school regulation, relationship with teachers, and community spirit were significant factors at environmental level. Conclusions : Findings suggest that it is necessary to consider health status, improve positive resilience, activate a multicultural experience program, establish friendly relations with teachers, adhere to social norms, and strengthen community spirit for multicultural acceptability.

블렌디드 러닝 수업을 받은 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통능력이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Interpersonal Relationship and Communication Competence of Nursing Students who took Blended Learning on the Adjustment to College Life)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 블렌디드 러닝 수업을 받은 간호대학생의 대인관계와 의사소통능력이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 연구대상자는 간호학과 1, 2학년 재학생을 대상으로 133명이었다. 자료수집을 위한 설문조사는 2021년 11월 22일부터 12월 3일까지 실시되었다. 자료분석은 SPSS/WIN version 26.0 프로그램을 활용하여 기술통계, 차이검증은 t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Multiple regression으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 대학생활적응은 대인관계와 의사소통능력간에 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는 요인은 의사소통능력, 대인관계, 간호학과 선택동기 순이었으며, 이에 대한 설명력은 44.3%이었다. 결론적으로, 블렌디드 러닝 수업을 받은 간호대학생의 대학생활적응을 높일수 있도록 의사소통능력을 향상시키고 원만한 대인관계를 위한 전략이 필요하다.

웹 기반 학습 프로그램이 혈압측정에 대한 자기효능감, 지식 및 수행능력에 미치는 효과 (Effectiveness of web based learning program on self efficacy, knowledge, and competence in measurement of blood pressure)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the effectiveness of a web based learning program on self efficacy, knowledge, and competence in measurement of blood pressure in college nursing students. Method: This study was an experimental research study. Data were collected from April 20 to June 1. 2011. The participants were 68 first year nursing students (experimental group 37, control group 31). The collected data were analyzed with the PASW 18.0 program, using ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. Results: The mean score for self efficacy in blood pressure measurement in the experimental group was 61.9 and in the control group 60.7. This result was statistically significant (t=3.301, p=.002). The mean score for knowledge of blood pressure measurement in the experimental group was 11.5 and in the control group 10.8. This result was statistically significant (t=2.910, p=.005). But effectiveness of competence in blood pressure measurement was not significant. Conclusion: The study results show that the web based learning program was effective for self efficacy and knowledge in blood pressure measurement but not for competence indicating.-a need to develop strategies to improve competence in blood presessure measurement for these students.

간호 대학생의 기본간호 임상실습에 관한 자율성, 교수효율성 및 임상실습 만족도 (Autonomy, Teaching Effectiveness, and Clinical Practice Satisfaction for Fundamentals Nursing Clinical Practice in Student Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate autonomy, teaching effectiveness, and clinical practice satisfaction for fundamentals nursing clinical practice in student nurses. Method: The participants were 244 sophomores, who had done the practice for 8 weeks from June 17 ${\sim}.33$ August 23, 2005. Autonomy the Caring Perspective(ACP) devised by Boughn(1995) was used to measure autonomy, Instrument to Measure Effectiveness of Clinical Instructor(IMECL) by Reeve(1994) for measuring teaching effectiveness, and an instrument by Moon(2002) for measuring satisfaction. Results: After practice, the role model was seen as rich in knowledge and experience(48.77%). Desirable categories for instructor were full-time professors with a practice background and head nurses(31.97%). Average score for autonomy was 3.71(${\pm}.33$), for teaching effectiveness, 3.67(${\pm}.48$) and for satisfaction 3.51(${\pm}.38$). Autonomy scores were high for students satisfied with their major(F=5.23, p=.006), and interested In practice(F=4.38, p=.014). Teaching effectiveness scores were high for students satisfied with practice (F=2.57, p=.038). Clinical practice satisfaction scores were high for students interested in practice(F=5.01, p=.007). Relationships between autonomy and teaching effectiveness (r=.174, p=.006), and between leaching effectiveness and satisfaction showed a positive correlation(r=.632, p=.000). Conclusion: Interest in clinical practice courses in first year affect autonomy, teaching effectiveness and satisfaction.

성찰일지 분석을 통한 간호대학생의 보건소 실습 경험 (현상학적 연구) (A Study on Experiences of Nursing Students in Clinical Practice at the Public Health Center through Analytic Approach of Self- Reflection (phenomenological study))

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of nursing students in clinical practice at a public health center through their self- reflections. Subjects : The 110 students in the 3rd year, practice at two public health centers in city P and city K. From the110, 53 male and female university students who practice in city K were selected to participate : 11males (20.8 %) and 42 females (79.2 %). Methods : The data analyzed were the self-reflections regarding the clinical practice. Results : These data indicate that : most of the participants now believe that public health centers provide many more services to the community than they previously knew about. They rate the public health center's programs highly, and want to be community health nurses. For the first time, they realize that the work of public health nurses is very important. In particular they note that their emotions while at the public health center differ significantly from when they work at the other. The environment in the public health center makes them feel more comfortable and less stressed. Generally, they are satisfied with their practice at the public health center. Conclusion : On the basis of these findings, the following recommendations can be made. Experience at public health centers is an important part of nursing students' education. I suggest that research on nursing students' experiences while practicing at the public health center should expand to include research methods other than the analysis of their reflection journals, In addition a follow-up study of experiences while practicing at the public health center should be attempted of self-reflections.
