수출기업의 시장지향성 및 학습지향성이 성과에 미치는 영향 - 기업의 정보기술 활용을 중심으로 - (The Relationships among Market Orientation, Learning Orientation, IT Support for Resource, IT Support for Strategy, and Performance in Export Firms)

  • In this study, we investigate the relationships among organizational market orientation, learning orientation, information technology(IT) support for firm resource, IT support for strategy, and balanced scorecard(BSC) performance in export firms. The development of the research model is based on the empirical studies of strategy and resource-based view. The data from the survey was analyzed using Partial Least Squares(PLS). The results from the empirical model suggest that IT support for firm resource is effected by market orientation and learning orientation. And, IT support for strategy is enhanced by IT support for firm resource. Finally, BSC performance of export firms is effected by IT support for strategy.

  • The firm leading community that is built to achieve firm's ad hoc purpose has two interested parties, operator and user. The success of the firm leading community, therefore, can be driven by meeting the needs of both parties. Most studies of the community, however, have focused not on operator but on user so far. This study identifies two variables-operating activities and organizational support-as success factors of firm leading community based on prior studies and analyzes them in term of the operator of firm leading community through 2nd in-depth interview. The result of study shows that organizational support affects operating activities and then both operating activities and organizational support affect the success of the firm leading community.

The Effects of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy on Perceived Firm-Efficacy, Policy Satisfaction, and Managerial Performance in SMEs and Startups: Focusing on Government Support Policies for SMEs and Startups

  • The government's various support policies have helped Korea's SMEs and startups to grow from the beginning to the end, from domestic companies to exporters. In particular, direct business support policies such as financial support, R&D projects, and export support have been effective in helping a large number of entrepreneurs and startup companies to establish themselves in the market and have achieved tangible results every year since the establishment of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. As such, the government is making significant efforts to create and promote various types of support policies and to help companies utilize them in their business. However, this study aims to analyze the factors that affect the satisfaction of government policies and the achievement of managerial performance from the companies' perspective and to suggest the purpose of government support policies and the direction companies should take. Specifically, this study categorizes entrepreneurial self-efficacy into marketing, innovation, management, risk-taking, and financial management, using the relationship model of self-efficacy and collective efficacy to ultimately lead to practical results for SMEs and startups support policies. It uses perceived firm efficacy as a variable to reveal the influence relationship. In addition, the direct and mediating effects of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and policy satisfaction on managerial performance were analyzed to determine what SMEs and startups support policies should do. The results showed that, first, among the five components of entrepreneurial self-efficacy, innovation, and risk-taking efficacy positively affected perceived firm efficacy. Second, the specific components of entrepreneurial self-efficacy, marketing, and financial management efficacy positively influenced policy satisfaction. Third, we found that perceived firm efficacy positively influenced policy satisfaction and managerial performance, which are factors of SMEs and startups' policy performance. Specifically, perceived firm efficacy positively influenced policy satisfaction managerial performance. Fourth, we found that policy satisfaction positively influenced managerial performance.

정부 자금지원과 기업 경영성과: 기업 및 클러스터 특성의 조절효과에 관한 다수준 분석 (Government Financial Support and Firm Performance: A Multilevel Analysis of the Moderating Effects of Firm and Cluster Characteristics)

  • 정부지원과 기업 경영성과 간 관계에서 기업 고유의 특성과 공간적 특성의 중요성을 강조하는 많은 논의들이 있지만, 기업 특성과 클러스터 특성이 통합적으로 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 정부자금지원의 구체적인 투입에 따른 재무적, 비재무적 성과를 실증분석하고, 정부 자금지원과 기업 경영성과 간에 영향을 조절할 것으로 예측되는 기업 특성 및 클러스터 특성을 탐색하여, 개인 및 집단의 2수준 위계적 선형모형(HLM)으로 분석하였다. 데이터는 사업자등록번호 기준으로 기업 및 클러스터 수준으로 재정리하여 최종적으로 기업수 83,395개사 및 클러스터 641개의 패널데이터가 활용되었다. 연구 결과, 정부 자금지원은 기업의 매출액과 특허 모두에 정(+)의 효과를 주는 것으로 나타나, 정부 지원이 시장실패를 보완할 수 있는 유효한 수단이라는 것을 보여준다. 위계적 선형모형으로 분석한 결과, 정부 자금지원과 인적자본역량, 흡수역량, 클러스터 네트워크 밀도와 결합할 경우, 모두 매출액과 유의한 정(+)의 효과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 2수준 위계적 선형모형으로 분석하여, 기업 특성인 인적자본역량과 흡수역량, 클러스터 특성인 클러스터 네트워크 밀도가 조절효과로 정부 자금지원과 기업경영성과를 조절하는 역할을 수행함을 밝혀 이론적, 실무적 시사점을 제공한다.

중소기업에서의 내부마케팅과 구성원들의 점진적 혁신의 관계에 대한 연구 (The relationship between internal marketing and incremental innovation in small business)

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between internal marketing and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of firm size. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, based on the responses from 322 employees in small business, showed that almost internal marketing factors effects positively on incremental innovation. All internal marketing factors(CEO support, compensation system, education & training, internal communication, authority delegation) appeared to be related positively with process innovation and service innovation. And all other factors(compensation system, education & training, internal communication, authority delegation) except CEO support showed to have positive relationship with operation innovation. In the moderating effects, internal communication effects more positively on incremental innovation in large firm-size than in small firm-size. But delegation effects more positively on incremental innovation in small firm-size than in large firm-size.

R&D 조세 지원 정책과 기업 혁신활동 간의 관계 연구: 국가전략기술 R&D 기업을 중심으로 (A study on the relationship between R&D tax support policy and corporate innovation activities: Focus on national strategic technology R&D companies)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to analyse the relationship between R&D tax support policy and firm innovation activity using data on firms engaged in 12 national strategic technology sectors. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected survey data from 664 companies engaged in national strategic technologies. The data were then analysed using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) analysis. Findings - First, corporate R&D tax support had a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with firm innovation performance. Second, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with incremental innovation, but there was no statistical significance with radical innovation. Third, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with the firm's first innovation, but there was no statistical significance with the world's first innovation. Fourth, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with the number of R&D projects of a firm. Finally, there was a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with a firm's open innovation. Research implications or Originality - First, in terms of policy effectiveness, the government needs to consider promoting R&D tax support policies in areas where R&D competition is fierce. For private companies engaged in the 12 national strategic technology fields, the R&D tax support policy is working in the direction of promoting corporate innovation activities, and this positive policy effect is likely to be effective in areas where R&D competition is fierce. Second, if the government wants to improve the quality of corporate innovation activities through R&D tax support policies, it needs to provide incentives higher than the current level.

The Impact of Government Innovation Subsidies on the Survival of SMEs in Korea

  • This study analyzed the effect of the government R&D subsidy program on long-term firm survival. In order to estimate the average treatment effect for the treated group, we used the survival analysis and matching method by constituting a comprehensive dataset of more than 90,000 observations. The analysis results show that the government R&D subsidy has a negative impact on long-term firm survival. In particular, not only the subsidy does not have a statistically significant effect on firm survival in the relatively short-term, the survival probability of the subsidized firms is statistically significantly lower than the non-subsidized firms after six years. These results can be seen as weakening the justification of government R&D support. There may be problems in the subsidy policy itself and the process of selection of subsidy awardees; however, the more fundamental problem is that the subsidy policy is concluded as the one-time event. Admittedly, it would be difficult for the government to precisely manage the subsidized projects over a long term period. However, in the case of a project in which short-term performance is detected, it would be necessary to provide a step-by-step support to strengthen the firm's competitiveness through further support and continuous development of performance. Of course, mid- and long-term evaluations of subsidy support policy should be performed in parallel with such phased support.
