In a solar cell, degradation refers to the decrease in performance parameters caused by defects originated due to various causes. During the fabrication process of solar cells, degradation is generally related to the processes such as passivation or firing. There exist sources of many types of degradation; however, the exact cause of Light and elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID) is yet to be determined. It is reported that the degradation and the regeneration occur due to the recombination of hydrogen and an arbitrary substance. In this paper, we report the deposition of Al2O3 and SiNX on silicon wafers used in the Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC) solar structure and its degradation pattern. A higher degradation rate was observed in the sample with single layer of Al2O3 only, which indicates that the degradation is affected by the presence or the absence of a passivation thin film. In order to alleviate the degradation, optimization of different steps should be carried out in consideration of degradation in the solar cell fabrication process.

For one-shot systems such as 81mm high-explosive ammunition, research on performance prediction is insignificant due to research manpower infrastructure and lack of interest and difficulties in securing field data, which can only be done by special task workers. In order to evaluate the actual range of ammunition, the storage ammunition reliability evaluation checks the range by firing actual ammunition through a functional test. Test evaluation is a method of extracting a sample from the population, launching it, and recording the results accordingly. As a result of these tests, the range, which is an indicator of ammunition performance, can be measured differently according to meteorological factors such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity according to the location of the test site. In this study, various environmental factors generated at the test site and storage period analyze the correlation with the range, which is the performance of ammunition, and analyze the priority of importance for each factor and the numerical standards that environmental factors affect range. Through this, a new approach to one-shot system performance prediction was presented.
The GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK2A) satellite, which was launched in December 2018, carries weather observation payloads and uses the image navigation and registration system to calibrate the observation images. The calibration system requires accurate orbit prediction data and depends on the accuracy of the orbit determination accuracy. In order to find a possible way to improve the current orbit determination accuracy of the GK2A flight dynamic subsystem module, orbit determination software was developed to independently evaluate the orbit determination accuracy. A comprehensive satellite dynamic model is applied for a batch-type least squares filter. When determining the orbit, thrust firing during station-keeping maneuvers and wheel-off loading maneuvers is taken into account. One month of GK2A ranging data were processed to estimate the satellite position on a daily basis. The orbit determination error was evaluated by comparing estimates during overlapping estimation intervals.

From the moment that a firing pin triggers the detonator to the moment that a grenade leaves a barrel is called Action Time. Since a loading and percussion of 40mm grenade happens simultaneously, action time should be within a certain time in order to prevent a Jamming malfunction. Previously, unreliable action time device of 40mm grenade made it difficult to improve quality assurance of K4 Grenade Machine Gun. Here, various sensors were compared and a special device was designed to seek an accurate measurement on action time. In this device, the gap between a signal from an optical sensor in Firing Pin and that from Eddy current probe in the barrel was recorded and data were sent to a computer in real time. Confirming if action time is within the criteria, it is expected that action time plays an important role in quality assurance on 40mm grenade.

Renewable Portfolio Standards(RPS) is a regulation that requires a renewable energy generated from eco-friendly energy sources such as biomass, wind, solar, and geothermal. The RPS mechanism generally is an obligatory policy that places on electricity supply companies to produce a designated fraction of their electricity from renewable energies. The domestic companies to supply electricity largely rely on wood pellets in order to implement the RPS in spite of undesirable situation of lack of wood resources in Korea. This means that the electricity supply companies in Korea must explore new biomass as an alternative to wood. Palm kernel shell (PKS) and empty fruit bunch (EFB) as oil palm wastes can be used as raw materials used for making pellets after their thermochemical treatment like torrefaction. Torrefaction is a pretreatment process which serves to improve the properties including heating value and energy densification of these oil palm wastes through a mild pyrolysis at temperature typically ranging between 200 and $300^{\circ}C$ in the absence of oxygen under atmospheric pressure. Torrefaction of oil palms wastes at above $200^{\circ}C$ contributed to the increase of fixed carbon with the decrease of volatile matters, leading to the improvement of their calorific values over 20.9 MJ/kg (=5,000 kcal/kg) up to 25.1 MJ/kg (=6,000 kcal/kg). In particular, EFB sensitively responded to torrefaction because of its physical properties like fiber bundles, compared to PKS and hardwood chips. In conclusion, torrefaction treatment of PKS and EFB can greatly contribute to the implement of RPS of the electricity supply companies in Korea through the increased co-firing biomass with coal.
The carbon dioxide($CO_2$) released while producing building materials is substantial and has been targeted as a leading contributor to global climate change. One of the most typical method to reducing $CO_2$ for building materials is the addition of slag and fly ash, like pozzolan material, while another method is reducing $CO_2$ production by carbon negative cement development. The MgO-based cement was from the low-temperature calcination of magnesite required less energy and emitted less $CO_2$ than the manufacturing of Portland cements. It is also believed that adding reactive MgO to Portland-pozzolan cements could improve their performance and also increase their capacity to absorb atmospheric $CO_2$. In this study, the basic research for magnesia cement using $MgCO_3$ and magnesium silicate ore (serpentine) as main starting materials, as well as silica fume, fly ash and blast furnace slag for the mineral admixture, were carried out for industrial waste material recycling. In order to increase the hydration activity, $MgCl_2$ was also added. To improve hydration activity, $MgCO_3$ and serpentinite were fired at $700^{\circ}C$ and autoclave treatment was conducted. In the case of $MgCO_3$ as starting material, hydration activity was the highest at firing temperature of $700^{\circ}C$. This $MgCO_3$ was completely transferred to MgO after firing. This occurred after the hydration reaction with water MgO was transferred completely to $Mg(OH)_2$ as a hydration product. In the case of using only $MgCO_3$, the compressive strength was 3.5MPa at 28 days. The addition of silica fume enhanced compressive strength to 5.5 MPa. In the composition of $MgCO_3$-serpentine, the addition of pozzolanic materials such as silica fume increased the compression strength. In particular, the addition of $MgCl_2$ compressive strength was increased to 80 MPa.
The inhibition/influences of adenine compounds on the heart have been described repeatedly by many investigators, since the first report by Druny and Szent-Gyorgyi [1929]. These studies have shown that adenosine and adenine nucleotides have an over-all effect similar to that of acetylcholine [ACh] by slowing and weakening the heartbeat. The basic cellular and membrane events underlying the inhibitory action of adenosine on sinus rate, however, are not well understood. Furthermore, the physiological role of adenosine in regulation of the heartbeat remains still to be elucidated. Therefore, this study was undertaken in order to examine the response of rabbit SA node to adenosine and to compare the response to that of ACh. Isolated SA node preparation, whole atrial pair, or left atrlal strip was used in each experiment. Action potentials of SA node were recorded through the intracellular glass microelectrodes, which were filled with 3M KCI and had resistance of 30-50 M. All experiments were performed in a bicarbonate-buffered Tyrode solution which was aerated with 3% $CO_2-97%$$O_2$ gas mixture and kept at $35^{\circ}C$. Spontaneous firing rate of SA node at 35C [Mean + SEM, n=16] was 154 + 3.3 beats/min. The parameters of action potentials were: maximum astolic potential [MDP], -731.7mV: overshoot [OS], 9 + 1.4mV; slope of pacemaker potential [SPP], 94 3.0mV/sec.Adenosine suppressed the firing rate of SA node in a dose dependent manner. This inhibitory effect appeared at the concentration of $10^{-6}M$ and was potentiated in parallel with the increase in adenosine concentration. Changes in action potential by adenosine were dose-dependent increase of MDP and decrease of SPP until $10^{-4}$. Above this concentration, however, the amplitude of action potential decreased markedly due to the simultaneous decrease of both MDP and OS. All these effects of adenosine were not affected by pretreatment of atropine [2mg/l] and propranolol [$5{\times}10^{-6}M$]. ACh [$10^{-6}M$] responses on action potential were similar to those of adenosine by increasing MDP and decreasing SPP. These effects of ACh disappeared by pretreatment of atropine [2mg/1]. Inhibition/effects of adenosine and ACh on sinus rate were enhanced synergistically with the simultaneous administration of adenosine and ACh. Marked decrease of overshoot potential was the most prominent feature on action potential. Dipyridamole [DPM], which is known to block the adenosine transport across cell membrane, definitely potentiated the action of adenosine . Adenosine suppressed the sinus rate and atrial contractility in the same dosage range, even in the reserpinized preparation. Above` results suggest that adenosine suppresses pacemaker activity, like ACh, by acting directly on the membrane of SA node, increasing MDP and decreasing SPP.
This study investigated the effect of filler particle size and weight% on mechanical properties of dental core porcelain. In alumina, variation in particle size and weight% and in zirconia, variation in weight%, all specimens were tested three-point bending strength, transmittance, thermal expansion coefficient, porosity and shrinkage and observed with SEM and analysed with X-ray diffractometer. In order to develop shrink-free porcelain, after firing alumina only, glass wasinfiltrated. And aluminum was added to alumina with the expanding character of aluminum oxidize into alumina, and was followed by second firing of glass infiltration procedure. Then mechanical properties were observed. The results of this study were obtained as follows. 1. The bending strength of zirconia was higher than that of alumina, and $5{\mu}m$ alumina had highest strength in variation of particle size of alumina. Except for $5{\mu}m$ alumina, increased with weight%, bending strength increased up to 80% and decreased at 90%. In case of glass infiltration, bending strength was slight higher than 80% and 90% of $5{\mu}m$ alumina. 2. Transmittance increased with increase of shrinkage, decrease of porosity, and with increase of filler size and had no direct correlation with weight%. 3. Thermal expansion coefficient of alumina group was $7.42\sim8.64\times10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ and that of zirconia group was $9.83\sim12.11\times10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ and the latter was higher than the former. 4. In x-ray diffraction analysis, alumina group and zirconia group increased $Al_2O_3$ peak and $t-ZrO_2$ peak with increase of weight%. The second phase(cristobalite peak) was observed in zirconia 40% group. 5. Porosity of zirconia was lower than that of alumina and $5{\mu}m$ alumina group had many pores with SEM. In case of low filler content, fracture occurred in glass and high filler content, in glass and filler. In case of aluminum addition to alumina, small oxidised aluminum was observed. 6. Zirconia group had high shrinkage than alumina group, and mixed group of alumina group had high shrinkage. In case of glass infiltration, shrinkage decreased and aluminum addition to alumina group was almost shrink-free.

This paper presents modeling and optimization techniques for hish efficiency solar cell process on single-crystalline float zone (FZ) wafers. Among a sequence of multiple steps of fabrication, the followings are the most sensitive steps for the contact formation: 1) Emitter formation by diffusion; 2) Anti-reflection-coating (ARC) with silicon nitride using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD); 3) Screen-printing for front and back metalization; and 4) Contact formation by firing. In order to increase the performance of solar cells in terms of efficiency, the contact formation process is modeled and optimized using neural networks and genetic algorithms, respectively. This paper utilizes the design of experiments (DOE) in contact formation to reduce process time and fabrication costs. The experiments were designed by using central composite design which consists of 24 factorial design augmented by 8 axial points with three center points. After contact formation process, the efficiency of the fabricated solar cell is modeled using neural networks. Established efficiency model is then used for the analysis of the process characteristics and process optimization for more efficient solar cell fabrication.
In this study, the effect of chemical additives on the reduction of fine particles was identified in $9.2MW_e$ commercial scale circulating fluidized bed boiler firing bituminous coal. Futhermore, a simple and effective method of fine particle collection has been developed to collect the fine particles of the boiler during fossil fuel combustion. Chemical additives were used to reduce particles below 10 PM in the flue gas, and borax solution was used as a chemical additive. In order to identify the particle behavior of PM 10 or less among the collected fine particles, it was analyzed through particle size analyzer and SEM analysis. The Borax solution tends to absorb molten mineral in the flue gas and make fine particles grow. As a result, it was analyzed that particles smaller than $10{\mu}m$ were reduced by using borax solution.
