In order to make a highly ordered three-dimensional porous structure of titania ceramics, porogen beads of PS [Polystyrene] and PMMA [poly(methylmetacrylate)] were prepared by emulsion polymerization using styrene monomer and methyl methacrylate monomer, respectively. The uniform beads of PS or PMMA latex were closely packed by centrifugation as a porogen template for the infiltration of titanium butoxide solution. The mixed compound of PS or PMMA with titanium butoxide was dried and the dry compacts were calcined at $450^{\circ}C-750^{\circ}C$ according to the firing schedule to prepare micro- and meso- structures of polycrystalline titania with monodispersed porosity. Inorganic frameworks composed of $TiO_2$ were formed and showed a three Dimensionally Ordered Microstructure [3DOM] of $TiO_2$ ceramics. The pulverized particles of the $TiO_2$ ceramic skeleton were characterized using XRD analysis. A monodispersed crystalline micro-structure with micro/meso porosity was observed by FE-SEM with EDX analysis. The 3DOM $TiO_2$ skeleton showed opalescent color tuning according to the direction of light.
COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) is a geostationary satellite and has been developing by KARI for communication and ocean and meteorological observations. It will be launched by ARIANE 5. Ka-band components are installed on South panel, where single solar array wing is mounted. Radiators, embedded heat pipes, external heat pipe, insulation blankets and heaters are utilized for the thermal control of the satellite. The Ka-band payload section is divided several areas based on unit operating temperature in order to optimize radiator area and maximize heat rejection capability. Other equipment for sensors and bus are installed on North panel. The ocean and meteorological sensors are installed on optical benches on the top floor to decouple thermally from the satellite. During the transfer orbit operation, satellite will be under severe thermal environments due to low dissipation of components, satellite attitudes and LAE(Liquid Apogee Engine) firing. This paper presents temperature and heater power prediction and validation of thermal control design during transfer orbit operation.
In order to intercept anti-ship missiles, it is important to accurately predict the aiming point. The major factor for degrading the accuracy of the aiming point is the motions of the warships due to waves. Therefore, a stage of correcting the aiming point is required to compensate for such motions of warships. The proposed aiming point correction technique treats the changes in positions and velocity of naval guns by considering changes in the positions and velocities of the anti-ship missiles. In this paper, a ship motion estimation filter was also constructed to predict the motions of warships at the firing time of naval guns. In the simulation part, finally, the distance errors before and after aiming point corrections were compared through 6-DOF simulations.
Silver paste with low sintered temperature has been developed in order to apply electronic parts, such as bus electrode, address electrode in PDP (Plasma Display Panel) with large screen area. In this study, nano-sized silver particles with 10-30 nm were synthesized from silver nitrate ($AgNO_3$) solution by chemical reduction method and silver paste with low sintered temperature was prepared by mixing silver nanoparticles, conventional silver powder with the particle size 1.6 um and Pb-free frit. Conductive thick film from silver paste was fabricated by screen printing on alumina substrate. After firing at $540^{\circ}C$, the cross section and surface morphology of the thick films were analyzed by FE-SEM. Also, the sheet resistivity of the fired thick films was measured using the four-point technique.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to research to protect to loss of chrome-plating of small arms barrel on high temperature in order to extend its life expectency. Methods: The reason why chrome-plating dropped out is main material is weak from heat. Therfore, to make barrel of small arms have higher heat-resistant property, nitriding for barrel before chrome-plating is needed and test of that barrel was handled to improve it. Results: Nitriding before chrome-plating is useful to protect to chrome-plating loss on high temperature. Conclusion: To protect loss of chome-plating of small arms barrel during on firing, pre-nitriding on barrel is effective finally it leads to extend to barrel's life expectency.
In this study, the torsional vibration analysis for a marine propulsion system is carried out by using the transfer matrix method(TMM). The torsional moment produced by gas pressure and reciprocating inertia force may yield severe torsional vibration problem in the shaft system which results in a damage of engine system. There are several ways to control the torsional vibration problem at hand, firstly natural frequencies can be changed by adjusting shaft dimensions and/or inertia quantities, secondly firing order and crank arrangement are modified to reduce excitation force, and finally lower the vibration energy by adopting torsional vibration damper. In this paper, the viscous torsional vibration damper is used for reducing the torsional vibration stresses of shaft system and it is conformed that optimum model of the viscous damper can be determined by selecting the geometric design parameters of damper and silicon oil viscosity.
When ceramic membrance was made from metal salt solution in place of metal akoxide solution, crack free and good adhesion to supporter was optimized for sol stability and good adhesion force. A starting sol was prepared from aluminum oxychloride aqueous solutjion in order to inhibit the grain growthof Al2O3 during heat treatment. The crack free dip coating can't be achieved in 1mol/ι zirconium oxychloride solution because of the high viscosity which interferes with the hydration copolymerization between Al3+ ion and Zr4+ ion. Thus Al2O3-ZrO2 sol stability and viscosity for dip coating was effective when 0.01 mol/ι zirconium oxychloride was added. The minimizing of crack and achieving better adhesion to the supporter wa obtained by microwave drying, surfactant addition and ultrasonic dip coating in wet atmosphere. The result seems to minimize the capillary force and improve the adhesive ability to supporter during the process. Where the average pore size of Al2O3-ZrO2 ultrafilter ceramic membrane measured 17 Å by the BET method and observed γ-Al2O3 phase with tetragonal zirconia after firing at 700℃.
Yttria-bismuth-stabilized zirconia was investigated with respect to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition in the ran-ge of 0.5~5mol% to the base composition of $(ZrO_2)_{0.92}(Y_2O_3)_{0.08}.Bismuth was introduced into the ma-terial with $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses in order to reduce the evaporation of components. The sinterbility evaporation of components phase formation and microstructure were evaluated depending on the amount of $Bi_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass addition. Two probe A. C conductivity measurement was subjected to all the specimens and the result was discussed on the possible substitution of $Bi^{3+}$ for $Zr^{4+}$ and interistial $Si^{4+}$ in the fluorite structure of zirconia crystal there-upon the possible change in the capability of oxygen transference within the material. It was found that the addition of $Bi_2O_3$ could improve the sinterbility of material very much while not so much.oxygen sensing material suitable for relative low temperature firing.
Glass systems based on Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn modified alumino-boro silicates were investigated in order to improve the dielectric and mechanical properties of a typical LTCC (low temperature co-fired ceramic) which was developed for high frequency highly-integrated modules. The glass was prepared by a typical melting procedure and then mixed with cordierite fillers to fabricate glass/ceramic composite-type LTCC materials. The amount of cordierite filler was fixed at 50 volumetric%. For an optimal glass composition of 7.5% CaO, 7.5% BaO, 5% ZnO, 10% $Al_2O_3$, 30% $B_2O_3$, and 40% $SiO_2$ in mole ratio, the resultant LTCC composite showed a dielectric constant of 5.8 and a dielectric loss ($tan{\delta}$) of 0.0009 after firing at $900^{\circ}C$. An average bending strength of 160MPa was obtained for the optimal composition.
