  • To reduce the personnel and material loss caused by fire, we propose the automatic fire extinguishing system based on the ignition point tracking using the flame detecter. This automatic fire extinguishing system is composed of the flame detecting system and the fire extinguishing system based on the water cannon. We study the method for the ignition point tracking and the automatic fire extinguishing using the water cannon and the flame detecter. The flame detecting system for the early fire detection and the ignition point tracking has to be satisfied the requirement of the detecting range and the flame detection time. So we study the signal process algorithm for an improvement of the flame detecting system.

Tag식 개방계 장치를 이용한 알콜류의 인화점 및 연소점 측정 (Measurement of Fire Point and Flash Point for Alcohols Using Tag Open-Cup Apparatus)

  • The flash point is one of the most important combustible properties used to determine the potential for the fire and explosion hazards of industrial material and the fire point is the temperature of the flammable liquid at which there will be flaming combustion, sustained 5 seconds in response to the pilot flame. In this study, the flash point and fire point were measured to present raw data of the flammable risk assessment for alcohols, using Tag open-cup apparatus(ASTM D 1310-86). The measured values were compared with the calculated values based on 0.78 times stoichiometric concentration. The values calculated by the proposed equations were in good agreement with the measured values.

  • 인화점과 연소점은 가연성 물질의 잠재적인 화재 및 폭발 위험성을 결정하는데 중요한 연소 특성치들이다. 인화점은 가연성 액체에서 발생한 증기가 공기와 혼합하여 가연성 혼합기체를 형성하여 인화할 수 있는 액체의 최저 온도로 정의 한다. 연소점(fire point)은 가연성 액체 표면에 시험염(pilot flame)을 접촉시켰을 때 5초간 발염연소를 지속하는 액체의 온도를 말한다. 인화점은 여러 문헌에서 소개가 되고 있지만, 연소점은 연소의 지속성(sustenance)을 나타내는 중요한 자료임에도 불구하고 관련 문헌은 소수에 불과하다. 본 연구에서는 산류에 대해 Pensky-Martens 밀폐식 장치(ASTM-D93)와 Tag 개방식 장치(ASTM D1310-86)를 이용하여 하부인화점 및 연소점을 측정하였고, 측정된 값은 화학양론계수의 1.11배를 근거로 예측 값과 비교하였고, 제시된 식은 실험값과 잘 일치하였다.

가연성 액체의 인화점 추정에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of flash point determination for Alcohols & Aromatic Compounds.)

  • The flash point for flammable liquids (alcohol, aromatic compounds) were measured by Penskt-Martens's measuring apparatus with closed cup. As a result, it was observed that the flash points had the regular tendency according to the carbon number and the molecular structure. Consequently, the flash point for the alcohols were increased in proportion to the increase of the carbon number and branch number. The differences between the literature and experimental data are 14.6% for the relative error and 3.46$^{\circ}C$ in average for the measuring temperature.

화염 그림자 분석을 통한 최초 발화지점 확인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Determination of Fire Origin by Shadow analysis)

  • This study is about determination of fire origin by using analysis of shadow that was recorded CCTV data at the fire scene. This analysis is based on straight and radiate nature of light. At fire experiment with about 1m flame, we conformed that 2-dimensional extension line is focused at the bottom of the fire. If the fire is burning at the same level with shadow, it indicate the point of origin exactly. In 3-dimensional analysis that connect extensional line between distinctive points the shadow and the objet, the line focused in the ${\emptyset}$ 50cm-circle. We estimate the reason of that is because of the character of combustion of gases. The line indicate not the point of origin but the flame that is over the point of origin. thus, you have to consider the line indicate the flame when you do 3-dimensional analysis.

  • Recent social needs for promoting traffic safety increased and the demand social security in economic, increasing the demand for environmentally friendly rail transport. In particular, when train express such as to secure reliability KTX(Korea Train eXpress) from potential disaster(fire) in the train operation caused by the train express running has been very important. Railroad fire extinguishing system is operated to fire exploding before reaching the flashing point more important than early to quickly detect because of CAN(Controller Area Network) communication to fire suppression and fire receiver, interface, fire fighting equipment from HMI((Human Machine Interface) and fire high-performance to research and development for intelligent composite fire receiver is required.

  • In modern society, buildings are becoming more complex, and the population is becoming more densely populated. Such large buildings require a variety of evacuation measures, as there is a high possibility of large-scale human casualties due to increased evacuation distance and evacuation time in the event of a fire. Strobe light and exit sign light are used as important evacuation equipment to provide early warning and evacuation directions. In this thesis, we conducted a fire simulation assuming that a fire occurrence point notification function and a strobe light function were added to equipment such as visual alarms and evacuation guidance, and compared and analyzed the difference in evacuation completion time with existing equipment. The scenarios for the simulation were divided into "general fire situations" and "fire location and evacuation exit guidance situation" and the differences in evacuation completion time in the event of a fire were compared and analyzed for each floor from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor. The maximum travel distance to complete evacuation in the case of a fire on the first floor decreased by 80.6 m and the evacuation completion time decreased by 329.4 seconds, and the maximum travel distance to complete evacuation in the case of a second-floor fire decreased by 28.5 m and the evacuation completion time by 438.8 seconds. During the fire on the third floor, the maximum distance decreased until evacuation was completed to 3.4 m, and the evacuation completion time was reduced by 355.6 seconds. It is expected that if the congestion level of evacuation routes is reduced by utilizing the congestion level of evacuation exits when fire alarm systems and evacuation equipment are activated, the evacuation completion time will be further shortened and evacuations will be carried out quickly and safely.

수송기관용 오일의 화재위험성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fire Hazard of Transportation Oil)

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct the study of the combustion and thermal characteristics through transportation oil for the analysis of fire hazard. Transportation oil breaks down into fuels such as diesel for civilian demands, gasoline, DF1(diesel for military), high sulfur diesel(for marine), kerosene and JP1(for aviation), and lubricants like brake fluid, power steering oil, engine oil, and automatic and manual transmission oil. The experiments of flash point, ignition point, flame duration time, heat release rate were carried out using TAG closed cup flash point tester(AFP761), Cleveland open cup auto flash point analyzer(AFP762), KRS-RG-9000 and Dual cone calorimeter. As a result, the fuel's ignition points were lower than lubricants, especially that of gasoline was not conducted as it has below zero one. Gasoline has the highest ignition point of about $600^{\circ}C$, while the other fuels showed $400{\sim}465^{\circ}C$. For flame duration time, lubricants had over 300 seconds, but fuels had less than 300 seconds except high sulfur diesel(350 seconds). Total heat release rate ranged $287{\sim}462kW/m^2$ for lubricants and gasoline showed the highest total heat release rate, $652kW/m^2$.

방향족탄화수소의 인화점과 연소점 측정 및 예측 (Prediction and Measurement of Flash Point and Fire Point of Aromatic Hydrocarbons)

  • 인화점과 연소점은 가연성 물질의 화재 및 폭발 위험성을 결정하는데 가장 중요한 연소 특성치 가운데 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 방향족탄화수소에 대해 Pensky-Martens 밀폐식 장치(ASTM-D93) Tag 개방식장치(ASTM D1310-86)를 이용하여 인화점을 측정하였고, Tag 개방식 장치를 이용하여 연소점을 측정하였다. 측정된 인화점은 문헌값들과 일치하였으며, 연소점은 화학양론계수의 1.23배를 근거로 예측 값과 비교한 결과, 제시된 식은 실험값과 잘 일치하였다.

합판(合板)의 내화처리(耐火處理)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) - III. 제1인산(第一燐酸)암모늄처리합판(處理合板)의 내화도(耐火度) (Studies on Plywood Treated Fire-Retardant - III. The Fire-Retardant Degree of Monoammonium Phosphate Treated Plywood)

  • Plywood used for construction as a decorative inner material is inflammable and can fire accident, causing destruction of human life and property. In this study, 3.5mm Kapur plywoods were soaked in the 23% monoammonium phosphate solutions by cold soaking method 3, 6, 9hrs and hot-cold bath method for 3/3hrs, and redrying was carried out by press-drying at the platen temperature of 110, 130, 160, 180$^{\circ}C$, and then fire test was carried out to investigate burning point, flame exhausted length, frame spread length, back side carbonized area and weight loss. The results are as follows; 1. In cold soaking method for 3, 6, 9hrs. retentions of monoammonium phosphate were 0.377, 0.448, 0.498kg/(30cm)$^3$ respectively, and in hot-cold bath method for 3/3hrs, the retention was 1.331kg(30cm)$^3$ that exceeded the minimum retention 1.124kg/(30cm)$^3$. 2. Correlation coefficients among the variable were shown in table 2. From the table, it could be recognized that there were close negative correlations between the treatment and burning point, flame spread length, back side carbonized area, flame exhausted time and weight loss, and there was negative correlation between treating time and back side carbonized area, but there was positive correlation between platen temperature and burning point. 3. From table 3, it can be observed that there were highly significant differences for burning point, flame spread length, flame exhausted time, back side carhonized area, weight loss between treatments. And in 2-way interactions, there were also highly significant for burning point, flame spread length, flame exhausted time, weight loss between time x treatment. 4. It was observed that burning point, flame exhausted time, flame spread length, back side carbonized area, and weight loss in fire-retardant treated plywood were the best effects in fire-retardant treated plywood, water treated plywood and nontreated plywood. In conclusion, I can estimate that absorbed chemical contents by hot-cold bath method for 3/3hrs, have a lot of effects on fire-retardant factors such as burning point, flame spread length, flame exhausted time, backside carbonized area and weight loss, but platen temperatures have a little effects on the fire factors.
