  • Due to the rapid development of construction technology with effective land utilization in this nation, many tunnels were and are being built across the country. However, the smoke and the heat generated from tunnel fire are the most important critical factors which may results in both massive personal injury and property damage, especially, due to the closed surrounding of the tunnel. Considering this particular nature of the tunnels, this study aims to install a fire detection system using an optic fiber cable to measure the temperature changes, compare, and analyze the resulted values with the times of temperature changes of the sensor by performing fire simulations under the same condition as a real fire test. From the results, it has been found that the temperature sensor detects a fire occurrence and generates an alarm within one minute after ignition for both a real fire test and a fire simulation alike, and also that the characteristics of temperature changes of the sensor has close relations with the speeds of the currents inside the tunnel. In addition, considering the tunnel fires can affect the evacuation efficiency and the fire extinguishing activities of the fire brigade inside the tunnel, the temperature sensor must be able to search and find the locations and directions of the fires correctly.

  • This manuscript is based on the report "THE RESEARCH ON THE OBJECT TO BE FIRE RESISTIVE AND THOSE LIMITS" issued by FILK. With advancement of the life style recently. People seek for more comfort therefore the aspect of the residence is getting more complex. Meanwhile, the vital and property loss caused fire is getting higher. For the safe of the public welfare, these fire hazard should be controlled by governmental system. It will also be satisfactory if this small opinion could be helpful for the safe.

  • The behavioral response of the individuals intimately involved with the initiation of the fire or those who aware of the initial fire cue, often appeared to be a determinant to the outcome of the fire incident, the nonadaptive flight or panic type behavioral response appears to be an infrequent, unusual or unique participant behavioral response in most fire incidents. Therefore, this study focused on the investigation of the individual behavioral responses depend on the distinction of sex and age.

  • This study proposed the optimum design values for the biological clean room system observing the regulations of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Even though the standard for industrial clean room system has been well established, the basis for biological food clean room system is the first stage. In order to prevent the contaminations in advance for food storages, processes, and distributions, the criterion of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point is positively required. This study also suggested the possible ways of how to avoid the hazardous contaminations.

  • In this paper, we propose two predictive spatial data mining based on spatial statistics and apply for predicting the forest fire hazardous area. These are conditional probability and likelihood ratio methods. In these approaches, the prediction models and estimation procedures are depending un the basic quantitative relationships of spatial data sets relevant forest fire with respect to selected the past forest fire ignition areas. To make forest fire hazardous area prediction map using the two proposed methods and evaluate the performance of prediction power, we applied a FHR (Forest Fire Hazard Rate) and a PRC (Prediction Rate Curve) respectively. In comparison of the prediction power of the two proposed prediction model, the likelihood ratio method is mort powerful than conditional probability method. The proposed model for prediction of forest fire hazardous area would be helpful to increase the efficiency of forest fire management such as prevention of forest fire occurrence and effective placement of forest fire monitoring equipment and manpower.

  • The fire protection system of nuclear power plants shall be designed, constructed and operated, through a defense-in depth criterion to suppress the leakage of radioactivity to the outside and to allow the safety shutdown function when a fire occurs. In order to achieve these purposes, most of countries abroad operating the nuclear power plants keep up the integrated regulations, however we have two guidelines, the fire protection service act and the nuclear energy act, as mandatory requirements to apply to the fire protection systems in nuclear power plants. It has shown that USA, Canada and Japan which have long experience in operating nuclear power plants have regulations integrated technically for fire protection system of nuclear power plants. It is proposed that the things once verified the risk analysis of the fire hazard by the nuclear law in the design for fire suppression system in plants should be authorized by the fire protection service act as an exception.

  • In the various disaster scene effective protective equipment and suppression measures of crisis response cases that is closed all in Korea. Due to asbestos exposure by wearing protective equipment, as well as thoroughly strengthen firefighting, recognize the seriousness of the hazard factors in the fire activity, and established legal system for disease compensation and supplemented by institutional for diseases not yet recognized by officially recognized disaster, fire officials to improve morale and working conditions can be expected to improve major public service.

  • As the process of the Korea is highly industrialization and knowledge information the extent of fire fighting business is getting wide with the development and change. But work environment is not improved much compared with the past. For the situation that threaten life is exposed greatly, compared with the other profession there are also much stress. Moreover, the professional stress of fire official influence not only the safety of fire official. In this paper based on the reduction countermeasure for professional stress of fire official the following are proposed: Lively communication activity between constituents, application of people system as a result work field, improvement of treatment and welfare institution, safety of fire official and health rule enactment, the establishment of specialty hospital for fire fighting and appointment of fire medical specialist.

  • The standard procedure of fire modeling was reviewed to minimize the user dependence, based on the NUREG-1934 and 1824 reports. The hazard analysis of lubricating oil fires in the air compressor room of domestic nuclear power plant (NPP) was also performed using a representative fire model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator). The area ($A_f$) and location of fire source were considered as major parameters for the realistic fire scenarios. As a result, the maximum probability to exceed the thermal damage criteria of IEEE-383 unqualified electrical cables was predicted as approximately 70% with $A_f=1m^2$. It was also found that for qualified electrical cables, the maximum probabilities of exceeding the criteria were 2% and 90% with $A_f=2$ and $4m^2$, respectively. It was concluded that all electrical cables should be replaced with IEEE-383 qualified cables and the dike to restrict as $A_f{\leq}2m^2$ should be installed at the same time, in order to assure the thermal stability of electrical cables for lubricating oil fires in the air compressor room of domestic NPP.
