Purpose : The current tactile walking surface indicators have not been easily accessible to blind and vision-impaired people due to unexpected variation of walking environment and walking behavior of transportation poor. Moreover, those indicators frequently cause the inconvenience to transportation users' walking. Thus, this study aims to investigate the improvement of tactile walking surface indicators, by comparing and analyzing findings from the relevant research. Results from this study contribute to suggest the better standard criteria of tactile walking surface indicators for transportation users, especially blind and vision-impaired people, the handicapped, the child and the elderly and weak, providing the secure and convenient circumstance for walking. Method : This study presents the problems about the standard criteria of tactile walking surface indicators via the examination of finding from the past studies. For example, we examine all standard criteria, focusing on shapes, colors and qualities of materials used for Tactile Walking Surface Indicators. Then, the present study suggests the improvement of standard, which apply to the current walking environment practically and reasonably. Results : To improve the current condition of tactile walking surface indicators, the analysis on international and domestic standard criteria need to be conducted. Findings from these analyses helps to suggest the better criteria for the interval between projecting points of tactile walking surface indicators, effective perceived range of walking road, and the brightness contrast between tactile walking surface indicators and finishing materials. Implication : The suggested standard criteria of tactile walking surface indicators need to be tested by transportation users, and the practical instructions of establishing tactile walking surface indicators should also be developed.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the expression method according to the planning of townhouse and the healing method that affects residents for communicating with natural environment, in order to propose resident-focused communication with nature for healing. The results are as follows. First, the expression of nature elements can be divided into 'direct' and 'indirect' and healing effects through nature can be divided into 'body' and 'psychology'. The healing method of residents through nature was classified into physical and psychological healing through openness, familiarity, comfort, and stability. Second, as an expression method according to townhouse planning, the arrangement plan induced active communication with nature through the arrangement according to topography and a common garden. In terms of construction plan, a bigger window or door than that of other residential spaces was installed on a wall, ceiling or opening to directly bring the nature of outside visually for more communication. Third, with regard to healing methods of townhouse, 'openness' which reduces depression and increases self-esteem, expands the view of residents. 'Familiarity', the healing method that can relieve the fatigue of eyes and bring psychological warmth and comfort, makes us feel familiar through the pattern and texture of woods and stones that are natural materials. 'Comfort' which heals residents by creating an outside space and bringing the nature elements through a huge window can provide psychological healing such as eased tension in daily life as well as physical healing such as vitamin D synthesis and the recovery of physiological function. Also, 'Stability' gives a comfortable feeling by applying the colors of finishing materials inside or seeing the colors of surrounding nature as it is through big windows. Finally, in order to support the results of this study more objectively, a follow-up study conducting a survey on the residents of townhouse is needed.

The mass housing supply policy of the government has resulted in the customer-centered market, and thereby the age of quality competition in the industry. In line with this trend of quality competition, therefore, this preliminary study aims to investigate the requirements of housing product planning to live up to the needs of customers in terms of quality, and thus analyze the types of quality differentiation of a housing product unit in our housing market. It turned out that many cases attempted differentiation in such ways as merely using luxurious finishing materials and instantly popular environment-friendly materials, and combining partial and limited household items with architectural elements of the facility system. The result of this study shows that the differentiation plan of housing product should be customer-centered, and therefore, focus on quality differentiation through organic combination of architecture-oriented plane and interior elements with technology-oriented facility and product elements. Hereby, in the future, housing product planning should include sustainable differentiation plans with reconsideration of concepts that customers have, and the needed procedure.

In the case of fire, surface treatment agents used in external insulation finishing methods are substances that are vulnerable to fire due to thin finishes and the combustion of polymers. In this study, it was expected that the performance of surface preparation mortars could be improved by using expandable graphite with excellent thermal performance. Experimental results showed that the mechanical properties of surf ace preparation mortar were improved by using the fly ash and silica fume. Surface treatment materials using expanded graphite have a characteristic of expanding when a fire occurs. It has been shown that heat-swellable surface treatment materials can reduce the penetration of heat sources into the surface of synthetic insulation.
In the 1970's the Interior Design Associations was established and the activity of youth designers who werecalled the "first generation of Korean interior designers" were created. This study is aimed to analyze characteristics and trends of commercial interior design in the 1970's. The design methods include the documentary research and the actual proof research conducted. The frames of analysis were made by the background theories about Korean interior design, and the annual case studies were analyzed and estimated according to the design types. The design types were analyzed by the geometrical simplicity research, the romantic emotional expression, the Korean identity expression, the machine technical asthetic expression and the eclectic style with western classics. In the early 1970's, the abstract, brief, and simple expression were presented most frequently by the geometrical form and the repetition of the pattern. From the mid-1970's the romantic and emotional atmosphere of the youth culture that was popular at that time were expressed as vernacular design by the rough finishing of the natural materials such as plaster, brick, and wood floorings etc. The space such as a Korean food restaurant relates to the Korean traditional culture aims to be different through the expression by the Korean traditional patterns, furniture, and materials. In the late 1970's the metals and glass were used for the expression of the machine aesthetic form but was not popular because of the rare application. The type that revived the past western traditional form was presented by using the arch, dome, and the curved and luxurious moldings.
Nowadays in Korea, KS F 2271(Testing method for incombustibility of internal finish material and element of buildings) has been using for the evaluation of fire safety performance of sandwich panels. The test method in Japan and in Korea was based on the same way. When the Japanese standard building code was revised in 2000, the test method in the ISO 5660-1 was adopted for the test method for combustion performance of internal finishing materials and elements of buildings. According to this, the revision version of draft substituting the test method in the KS F 2271 for one in the ISO 5660-1(Cone Calorimeter method) is informed in Korea. In this study, combustion properties of sandwich panels were tested using the cone calorimeter method. Ignition time, peak heat release rate and total heat released of four sandwich panels and four core materials (thermal insulation material), which are widely used in Korea, were tested. Test results were analyzed for each specimen. Finally, test results were classified by Japanese standard building code and Canadian NBC revised.

Nowadays in Korea, KS F 2271 has been using for the test of fire safety performance of sandwich panels. Smoke toxicity test is the test for the toxicity evaluation of smoke and hazardous gas, caused by combustion of building materials and finishing materials. Smoke toxicity can be evaluated by the mean incapacitation time of mice; however this method is not a quantitative way. This test result can be influenced by the health status of mice and test condition. Specific optical density can be quantitatively measured by ISO 5659-2 single chamber method and toxic gases can be quantitatively measured by FTIR analysis. In this study, specific optical density of sandwich panel insulations, which are widely used in Korea, were tested using the ISO 5659-2 single chamber test method and compared with each test. Also, in the second test of three tests for each specimen, FTIR analysis was performed and quantitative test results(HCl, $NO_2$, etc) were compared with each test result.

To reduce the environmental load of the construction industry, there is a need to minimize construction and demolition by strengthening the eco-friendliness of building materials and extending the durable lifespan. Therefore, while many Hanok roof finishing methods have been proposed to address these problems, the current trend is to use the existing method due to issues such as economic feasibility, weight, and durability. The manufacturing method of clay roof tiles used as roofing materials for Hanok buildings is optimized by using a mixture of 64.5% Gyeongju clay, 15.0% kaolin, 15.0% FNS(Ferro Nickel Slag), and 5.5% MAS(Magnesia Aluminum Silicate) under optimal conditions. The results of the experiment involving firing at 1,125℃ showed that flexural strength of 12,102N, which is higher than the standard of KS F 3510, an absorption rate of 6.08%, a volume specific gravity of 2.15g/cm3, and the freeze-thaw properties were satisfied. A method for securing stable quality was studied.
Objective: This study was conducted to determine reduction of various odorous materials from a swine farm equipped with a continuous pit recirculation system (CPRS) with aerobically treated liquid manure. Methods: The CPRS is used in swine farms in South Korea, primarily to improve air quality in pig houses. In this study, CPRS consists of a manure aerobic treatment system and a fit recirculation system; the solid fraction is separated and composted, whereas the aerobically treated liquid fraction (290.0%±21.0% per day of total stored swine slurry) is continuously returned to the pit. Four confinement pig barns in three piggery farms were used; two were equipped with CPRS and the other two operated a slurry pit under the slatted floor. Results: All chemical contents of slurry pit manure in the control were greater than those of slurry pit manure in the CRPS treatment (p<0.05). Electrical conductivity and pH contents did not differ among treatments. The biological oxygen demand of the slurry pit treatment was greater than that of the other treatments (p<0.05). Total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and ammonia nitrogen contents of the slurry pit treatment were greater than those of other treatments (p<0.05). Odor intensity of the CPRS treatment was lower than that of the control at indoor, exhaust, and outside sampling points (p<0.05). The temperature and carbon dioxide of the CPRS treatment in the pig barn was significantly lower than those of control (p<0.05). All measured odorous material contents of the CPRS group were significantly lower than those of the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The CPRS application in pig farms is considered a good option as it continuously reduces the organic load of animal manure and lowers the average odorant concentration below the threshold of detecting odorous materials.

As for military backpacks in Korea, utility backpack products equipped with various functions along with comfort and convenience are being developed. As a result, the volume and weight of the backpack increase, and many lightweight studies of the materials forming the backpack are being conducted. This study is a basic study on frame lightweight using fiber-reinforced composites to deal with aluminum, a back frame that maintains the shape of a backpack and provides stability when worn by combatants. As is known, only fiber-reinforced composites have sufficient light weight and mechanical properties, but the mechanical properties were reviewed by drilling holes to maximize the light weight. Tensile strength and flexural strength were measured by drilling 6mm, 12mm, 18mm, and 24mm holes, and the tensile strength and flexural strength were measured when 1, 3, 5, and 7 holes of 12mm were increased. As a result, even when the number of holes was increased, tensile strength did not change significantly, and the flexural strength showed to be higher in the case of 3 holes and 5 holes than in the case of 1 hole.
