  • Purpose: We examined the relationship between operating income and volume of medical services provided at general hospitals in 2018 according to characteristics of general hospitals and measured as operating income(net income) and volume(adjusted inpatient days) covered or non-covered by National Health Insurance(NHI). Methodology: Finance data from income statement reports in 212 general hospitals and the national health insurance claim data of these hospitals were used. The characteristics of the general hospital were divided into structural, operational, financial, and patient aspects. Operating income and volume were divided into covered and non-covered by NHI. Findings: The results showed high volume hospitals tended to be more profitable than low volume hospitals, especially in non-covered services. Operating income was more likely to be sensitive to non-covered services volume than to covered services volume. Practical Implications: It is necessary to understand the volume of services in non-covered, in order to obtain reliable cost information to be used for the fee schedule. Researches on small size hospitals(<160 beds) are needed, with a large variation in the volume of services and a strong tendency to compensate for the loss in the covered part in non-covered part.

  • The traditional media ecosystem is facing major changes with the expansion of over-the-top (OTT) services. While the percentage of people cutting the cord has already exceeded the percentage of people subscribing to pay TV services in the United States, due to the unique characteristics of the Korean market, it is uncertain whether the cord-cutting trend will have an impact on the Korean media industry despite of the advantages of OTT services. Accordingly, this study has directly determined the beneficial and sacrificial factors of switching to OTT services, as well as the personal and external influences behind the Korean OTT service users' intention to switch. To achieve this, the Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) was used to measure the benefits of OTT services with regards to their content and systems, as well as measure the financial and procedural switching costs of cord-cutting; further, personal innovativeness and consumers' social image were added as external variables. The results of this study showed that consumers take the content and system quality of OTT services and procedural switching costs and into consideration, and that their intention to switch was based on social image. These results could serve as data for consumer analysis regarding the expansion of OTT services into the Korean media industry, and also provide the strategic basis for preparing for sudden changes that may occur in the media ecosystem due to cord-cutting.

  • This study aims to observe the impacts of entrepreneurship and market orientation of Seoul's business incubator (BI) CEO's on business performance, as well as investigate the moderating effects of BI supporting services. The main objectives of this study are as follows: first, to observe how the entrepreneurship of CEO's affects business performance; second, to observe how CEO's market orientation as a cultural factor attributes to business performance; third, to verify whether the utilization level of BI supporting services shows moderating effects between entrepreneurship and business performance, and finally to verify whether the utilization level of BI supporting services shows moderating effects between market orientation and business performance. Business incubators in Seoul registered with the Business Incubator Association were surveyed both online and offline to receive 127 responses out of 320 circulations. By filtering out insincere reponses, 117 were used for statistical analysis. Our results assert that the utilization level of physical BI supporting services does indeed strengthen the relation between initiative and financial performance. Also, it is interesting to note that the utilization level of physical BI supporting services supports the relation between risk sensitivity and financial performance. While risk sensitivity on its own shows no positive effect on business performance, a suitable utilization level of BI supporting services is likely to strengthen the connection. In addition, the utilization level of both physical and non-physical supporting services shows a moderating effect between initiative and non-financial performance. Based on the results above, risk-taking business incubator CEOs with initiative are likely to yield better financial performance in terms of increasing sales, if provided with various physical supporting services such as sufficient educational facilities including communal spaces and conference rooms.

In addition, financial institutions are trying to prevent fraudulent accidents by improving and upgrading the abnormal financial transaction detection system, but the results are not very clear. Despite these efforts, telecommunications and financial fraud incidents have evolved to evolve against countermeasures. In this paper, we propose an intelligent over - the - counter financial transaction system modeled through scenario - based Rule model and artificial intelligence algorithm to prevent financial transaction accidents by voice phishing. We propose an implementation model of artificial intelligence abnormal financial transaction detection system and an optimized countermeasure model that can block and respond to analysis and detection results.

The data were collected through the semi-constructed interviews with 11 agricultural researchers in 6 local agricultural experiment stations and 11 farmers who have ever made contact with the researchers. The major findings of this study were as follows: The agricultural experiment stations were providing extension services as expedients to accommodate to new markets and structural changes of organizations, though they are originally research-oriented agencies. The extension methods of agricultural experiment stations were similar with those of extension agencies, and the extension methods used mainly were 'experiment plot demonstration exhibition', 'consultation using telephone, internet, face to face meeting', 'visiting farms and consulting'. These were generally carried out by farmer's request, therefore the extension services of agricultural experiment stations were provided in a passive way so far. Based on the results of this study, the followings are recommended for further development of extension services of agricultural experiment station: The rural development organizations should set principles and support for extension services of agricultural experiment stations. The alternative plans to strengthen the linkage between research and extension have to be made, and these plans should include financial, personnel and systematic arrangements for further development of extension services of agricultural experiment stations.
