A Study on the Effects of Economic and Financial Stress on the Satisfaction of Living for the Elderly

  • Purpose - In this study, among the various stresses experienced by single-family senior citizens, we will focus on economic and financial stress and help to comprehend it generally, examine the differences in economic and financial stress and coping behaviors caused by the background variables in the aged group, and verify the variables that affect economic and financial stress, response behavior, and life satisfaction. Research design, data, and methodology - First of all, frequency analysis and technical statistics were conducted to identify the general characteristics of the elderly (characteristics of demographic sociology, social relationships) and the satisfaction level of life. Secondly, Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis was conducted to analyse influential factors on life satisfaction. Results - looking at the demographic characteristics of the elderly showed that in case the spouse exists, the level of satisfaction in life was shown to be higher. Next, looking at the characteristics of economic stress showed that the lower the economic stress was, the higher the satisfaction level of life was shown. Conclusions - Since stress has been identified as the most influential variable in life satisfaction through this study, we believe that economic and financial stress should be studied together as a parameter to find out which factors influence life satisfaction, or studies to reduce stresses for experts and senior party members altogether is also needed.

대학생소비자의 신용카드 사용행동에 대한 인과분석 : 현금서비스 사용행동과 연체행동을 중심으로 (Path Analysis of Credit Card Use Patterns among College Students : Examination of Cash Advances and Deferred Payments)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate general tendencies in credit card use, and determine the causes of the use of cash advance service and deferred payment among college students. Socio-demographic variables(gender, year in college, allowance, family income, parents' education and occupation, having taken a personal financial management course), knowledge and attitudes toward credit card, and financial management practices were incorporated as antecedent variables. Logistic regression analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted to test the hypotheses. The results were as follows ; First, $32\%$ of the college students with no regular income experienced deferred payment, and $60.4\%$ of them had used a cash advance service. Second, the frequency and amount of cash advance service use were affected by family income, financial practices, and allowance. The financial practice as a parameter was affected by their completion of a personal finance course and their allowance. Third, deferred payment of credit was affected by their knowledge on credit cards and their financial practices. The financial practices as a parameter were affected by the family income and their completion of a personal finance course, and the knowledge on credit cards was affected by gender. Lastly, implications and suggestions for credit card use behavior research and consumer credit education are discussed in this article.

투자주체별 투자행태 분석 : 한미 주가동조화를 중심으로 (Analysis of Investment Behavior : From the Perspective of Capital Market Comovements)

  • 본 논문은 주가동조화 현상이 투자주체별 투자결정과 어떠한 관련성을 가질 수 있는지를 연구하였다. 이를 위해, 한국과 미국의 거래소지수와 비거래소지수에 대해 시간가변적 상관관계를 분석하고, 그 분석결과를 투자주체별 투자행태와 연관하여 설명하였다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과, 한국과 미국의 거래소시장 간에, 그리고 비거래소시장 간에 각각 동조화 현상이 존재하며, 그 경향은 기간이 경과함에 따라 점차 강화되고 있었다. 투자주체별 투자행태에 대한 분석을 행한 결과, 외국인 투자자자는 전일 미국지수가 상승할 때, 한국 주식의 매수비중을 증대시키지만, 투신사와 개인투자자들은 외국인투자자와는 대조적으로, 전일 미국주가가 상승할 때, 매도비중을 증대시키는 것을 발견하였다. 이러한 분석결과는 외국인투자자들이 한미 주가동조화와 가장 관련이 깊은 투자행태를 보임을 암시하고 있다. 또한 투자주체별 순매수비율에 대한 Granger 인과관계분석을 통하여, 외국인투자자들은 내국인투자자와는 분리된 투자전략을 취하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 우리는 이러한 현상의 원인이 외국인투자자들이 동태적 헷징전략을 사용하거나, 또는 국제경제요인을 국내요인보다 중시하는 투자전략을 취하고 있기 때문이라고 추론하였다.

핀테크(FinTech) 서비스의 정보보안 위협요인과 개인정보보호행위와의 구조적 관계에 관한 연구: 기술위협회피와 건강행동이론 관점에서 (The Structural Relationships among Information Security Threat Factors and Information Protection Behavior of the FinTech Services: Focus on Theoretical Perspectives of Technology Threat Avoidance and Health Protective Behaviors)

  • Purpose Financial technology, also known as FinTech, is conceptually defined as a new type of financial service which is combined with information technology and other traditional financial services like payments, investments, financing, insurance, asset management and so on. Most of the studies on FinTech services have been conducted from the viewpoint of technical issues or legal and institutional studies, and few studies are conducted from the health belief perspectives and security behavior approaches. In this regard, this study suggest an extended information protection behavior model. Design/Methodology/Approach The Health Belief Model (HBM), the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), and the Technology Threat Avoidance Theory (TTAT) were employed to identify constructs relevant to information protection behavior of FinTech services. A new extended information protection behavior model in which the influence factors of information protection behavior (i.e., perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, subjective norms) affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, leading to information protection behavior of FinTech users eventually. This study developed an extended information protection behavior model to explain the protection behavior intention in FinTech users and collected 272 survey responses from the mobile users who had experiences with such mobile payments and FinTech services. Findings The finding of this study suggests that the influence factors of information protection behavior affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, and information protection behavior of FinTech users as well.

청소년의 금전관리행동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Money Management Behavior of Adolescents)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the money management behavior of adolescents and to examine the demographic variables and consumer behaviors which influence the money management. The subjects were 347 high school students in Chonju, Korea. The main results were as follows; 1) The mean score of the money management behavior of adolescents were 3.06. Among the variables, evaluating showed the highest score, and implementing was the second highest score. 2) The significant variables which influence the money management for adolescents were application of the information sources, sex, reference group, participation of the financial decision-making for the family, number of the siblings, tendency for materialism.

The Impact of Unfair Trade Restrictions on Corporate Behavior and Financial Performance of Pharmaceutical Companies: The Dual Punishment System in Korea

  • This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the dual-punishment system by analysis of the financial performance of pharmaceutical companies before and after introduction of the dual-punishment system. This study analyzed the business performance of 136 pharmaceutical companies from 2009 to 2011. The results from paired t-tests found that sales, operating cost, and EBITDA showed significant differences in performance, and, according to the variance analysis, the five groups obtained through a hierarchical cluster analysis differed from each other in sales, operating cost, EBITDA, and research and development cost. Differences in financial performance among the groups seem to be related to the strategy for response to the regulation. The introduction of the dual-punishment system is generally acknowledged to have had positive effects on the pharmaceutical industry. However, some companies appear to be continuing kickback practices.

  • 본 연구는 금융기관의 디지털플랫폼 역량과 고객지향성이 활용·탐색을 통하여 서비스혁신행동에 미치는 영향의 구조적 관계를 살펴보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 연구모형 검증을 위하여 금융기관종사자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 최종 280부의 설문지를 SPSS 25와 SmartPLS 2.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과로는 첫째, 디지털플랫폼역량은 활용과 탐색에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 고객지향성은 활용에 긍정적인 영향을 미치지만, 탐색에는 긍정적인 영향을 미치지 않는다. 셋째, 활용과 탐색은 모두 서비스혁신행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 금융기관의 서비스혁신행동에 영향을 미치는 디지털플랫폼역량과 고객지향성의 관계를 새롭게 조명하였으며, 실증연구를 통한 연구의 범위를 확대하였다. 향후 연구에서는 다양한 변수 및 연구표본을 대상으로 한 연구의 시도가 필요하다 하겠다.

Financial Sustainability of Nonprofit Organizations: Determinants of Fundraising Campaigns on Donation Intention

  • Purpose: As nonprofit organizations have made strides in international development, ensuring financial resources has become pivotal to determine what nonprofits strive for and how they perform with the budget generated without efforts for profit-making. The purpose of this research aims to investigate the determinants of donation intention that are affected by television fundraising campaigns in order to improve financial sustainability. This study applied the effects of emotional sympathy, economic value, accountability, relevance, and sustainability on donation intention. Research design, data, and methodology: This study collected data via an online survey by classifying respondents based on donation experiences and applied statistical analyses such as factor analysis, regression, and ANOVA. This study selected television fundraising campaigns aligned with criteria of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Results: The results of this study showed that emotional sympathy was a dominant variable regardless of previous donation experiences, while economic value was significant for inexperienced donors. Conclusions: The results provide implications to nonprofit organizations for fundraising as to what aspects need to be addressed in order to draw donors' motivation for giving behavior. Given efforts for successful implementation of development agenda, it is fundamental to establish financial sustainability of nonprofit organizations and build up public awareness.

The Impact of Investment Information Technology-based Fund Attributes on Trust, Satisfaction, Emotional Immersion, and Reinvestment Intentions

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of investment fund attributes such as fund product characteristics, returns on fund investment (ROI), internal controls, and after service on fund investor behavior based on investment information technology. In addition, we also examined how customers reinvest through emotional immersion, company trust and company satisfaction of investment firms in the context of fund investment. First, empirical results show that fund product characteristics, returns on fund investment, and financial firms' internal controls and after service act as signals to fund investors to shape their reinvestment intentions. Second, while investors are generally perceived to be interested only in investment returns, this study also shows that they consider both fund product characteristics and fund investment returns, which are core attributes of funds, as well as financial firms' internal control and after service, which are non-core attributes. Third, we find that company trust is an important factor in investors' reinvestment intentions, showing that investors are more likely to reinvest in a fund if they perceive the financial firm to be trustworthy and reliable. Finally, these findings emphasize that investors consider not only tangible aspects of fund products, such as fund product characteristics and returns on fund investment, but also intangible factors, such as financial firms' internal control and after service, and trustworthiness. Taken together, another implication is that the more advanced the investment information technology of financial firms, the more trust, satisfaction, immersion, and reinvestment intentions of investors will increase.

직.간접투자행동에 의해 분류된 투자자유형별 사회경제적 특성과 투자성향 (Socio-economic Characteristics and Investment Attitude of Direct and Indirect Investors of Financial Assets)

  • Financial consumers can invest their financial assets directly or indirectly. This investment type have effect on their financial well-being and may be influenced by their financial characteristics and investment attitude. The purposes of the study were to classify the consumers by direct and indirect investment behavior of their financial assets and to investigate their socio-economic characteristics and investment attitudes to give implications for financial counseling and education. The data came from the 2009 Fund Investors Survey which was conducted by Korea Investors Protection Foundation. Total 2,530 consumers were analyzed using frequency, CROSSTAB, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. In general, consumer tended to be rational in choosing the investment type. Noninvestors consisted of 38.5% of the sample. The economic level was the lowest for the noninvestors. The consumers who invest both indirectly and directly consisted of 21.0% and their economic level was the highest. Their investment tendency was between direct and indirect investors'. The proportion of direct investors ws 12.1% and that of indirect investors was 28.4%. Although the economic levels of indirect investors and direct investors were not statistically different, there were differences in their demographics and investment attitudes. The proportions of those aged 30-39, female and nonmarried were greater for indirect investors. They had the tendency to invest safely and diversely for a long term with reserve money. On the other hand, direct investors tended to be male, married and aged 40-49. They tended to invest intensively for a shorter term and seek returns even with borrowing money.
