  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between financial management behavior and subjective level of consumption of rural households. In this study, financial management behavior was defined to include 'budgeting' and 'expenditure management'. Data were collected from the 215 rural households in 13 different provinces of Chungnam, and 203 households were used for the analysis. Frequency distribution, means, and path analysis were employed for the statistical analysis. Major findings were as follows. Budgeting behavior had a significant positive effect on rural households' subjective level of consumption, while expenditure management behavior didn't have any significant effect. This implies that active and systematic financial management behavior such as budgeting is more effective than relatively passive financial management behavior like expenditure management on the enhancement of economic well-being of rural households. Age, education, and number of non-farm earners had indirect effects on the subjective level of consumption through budgeting behavior. Income stability had a direct effect and income had both direct and indirect effects on the subjective level of consumption.

In this study, financial literacy, self-efficacy, self-coping, and financial behavior variables were entered into the regression. A total of 790 respondents aged 40 and below were selected. An independent sample t-test was administered to compare the financial behavior scores for females and males. The results reveal that there was significant difference in the mean of financial behavior scores for females (M = 87.20, SD = 18.00) and males (M = 89.70, SD = 16.80; t (765) = 2.010, p = 0.045, two-tailed). The multiple regression results indicate that the model explained 13.4% of the variance in financial behavior, which is predicted significantly by the model (F = 38.361, p = 0.000). This study will be beneficial to policymakers to improve living conditions and to promote good financial behavior, financial literacy, self-efficacy as well as self-coping especially for emerging adults in Malaysia.

  • Financial behavior and financial well-being are two closely related aspects of an individual's financial decision making. This study attempts to investigate the extent to which financial behavior influences financial well-being in the Indian scenario. The data is collected using a structured questionnaire from a sample of 150 respondents. The study employs Financial Management Behaviour Scale (FMBS) (Dew & Xiao, 2012) to measure financial behavior. Factor analysis and multiple regression are performed to find the influence of financial behavior on financial well-being. The findings of the study suggest that except for credit commitment all the other behavioral factors like future security, savings and investments, credit indiscipline, and financial consciousness have a significant impact on the financial well-being of an individual in the Indian scenario. The regression coefficients of financial well-being are strongly determined by financial consciousness. The study is a contribution to the existing behavioral studies literature and the model used identifies the factors that influence the financial well-being in the Indian scenario. The study is conducted during the year 2020, so the results could have been influenced by the economic scenario of the period. The results of the study can be used by financial advisors to understand the financial well-being in the Indian scenario.

Based on these findings this study suggested that the hospitals should take more active cost containment measures, financial structural reorganization, and developoment of the strategies that can contribute to increase of the number of patient and medical revenue and that do not. require much capital funds.
