  • The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal mixing ratio of Allium hookeri powder and butter in the preparation of bread. The experiment was designed according to the central composite design for estimating the response surface, which demonstrated 10 experimental points, including 2 replicates for Allium hookeri powder and butter. Further, the mechanical and sensory properties of test materials were measured. A canonical form and perturbation plot conveyed the influence of each ingredient on the final product mixture. Overall, the measurement results of the mechanical properties showed a significant increase or decrease in dough pH, sweetness, volume, weight, height, specific volume, a & b-value of crumb and, springiness (p<0.05). Moreover, the sensory measurements demonstrated a significant improvement in color, appearance, texture, moistness and, overall quality. As a result, the optimum formulation from the numerical and graphical methods was calculated as 22.65 g of Allium hookeri powder and 47.77 g butter. After optimization, DPPH free radical scavenging activity, total phenolic content, and total plate counts over 10 days were evaluated. In sum, the results revealed the antioxidant and antibiotic actions of bread with Allium hookeri powder.

  • Vascularized iliac crest flap include bone tissue of good quality and quantity for mandible segmental defect. Even if fibular flap can contain longer bone tissue, iliac crest has esthetic shape for mandible body reconstruction and large height for implant. Conventional vascularized iliac crest osteomyocutaneous flap is too bulky for reconstruction of intraoral soft tissue defect. But modified flap can reduce soft tissue volume, so is good for functional reconstruction of oral mucosa. It takes only one month for completely replace oral mucosa. The final mucosal texture is much better than other skin paddle flap, especially for implant prosthesis. Donor site morbidity of this method looks same level or less with other modalities functionally and socially. In case of oral mucosa-mandible combined defect, vascularized iliac crest with internal oblique muscle flap shows good outcomes for hard and soft tissue.

  • An effective placement of macro blocks having arbitrary width and height is very important in reducing the chip area and the signal delay. In this paper, we proposed a method of macro block placement to obtain the globally optimal placement using simulated annealing, and an efficient algorithm for eliminating the overlaps between the rectangular macro blocks which may remain even after the simulated annealing process is terminated. Each macro block was enlarged to take into account minimal routing area, and these macro blocks were compacted as much as possible during the placement. This procedure was implemented in C language running on MV10000/UNIX computer system, and good placements were obtained by applying this procedure to two circuits which were consisted of 50 and 160 macro blocks respectively. Several parameters giving great effects to final placements were investigated.

  • A numerical simulation of flame propagation in a micro combustor was carried out. Combustor has a sub -millimeter depth cylindrical internal volume and axisymmetric one-dimensional was used to simplify the geometry. Semi-empirical heat transfer model was used to account for the heat loss to the walls during the flame propagation. A detailed chemical kinetics model of $H_2/Air$ with 10 species and 16 reaction steps was used to calculate the combustion. An operator-splitting PISO scheme that is non-iterative, time-dependent, and implicit was used to solve the system of transport equations. The computation was validated for adiabatic flame propagation and showed good agreement with existing results of adiabatic flame propagation. A full simulation including the heat loss model was carried out and results were compared with measurements made at corresponding test conditions. The heat loss that adds its significance at smaller value of combust or height obviously affected the flame propagation speed as final temperature of the burnt gas inside the combustor. Also, the distribution of gas properties such as temperature and species concentration showed wide variation inside the combustor, which affected the evaluation of total work available of the gases.

  • Various factors are investigated on the bed load transport driven by waves and current, and proper forms of bed load transport formulas mainly used in river hydraulics are chosen for the estimation of combined flow bed load transport after considering the additional factors. The BYO Model is employed for the computation of maximum bed shear stress and mean bed shear stress of the combined flow. The friction factor of uni-directional flow is estimated by using modified Keulegan equation, and equivalent roughness height is determined by obtaining correct answer for the bed shear stress of uni-directional flow. Empirical constant in each bed load formula is determined by applying it to Bijker's laboratory data of bed load transport by waves and current and the formulas obtained are discussed on their final forms with the values of empirical constants.

  • In this paper, the flowability, strengths, impact resistance and sulfuric acid resistance of steel fiber reinforced high performance concrete (SFHPC) for the steel fiber content and fly ash and blast furnace slag as admixtures were presented. For evaluating flowability particularly, tests of slump flow, box-type passing ability and L-type filling ability were performed. The slump flow of SFHPC was some decreased with increase of the steel fiber content. At the box-type passing ability, the difference of box height of SFHPC is greatly increased with increasing the fiber content. The L-type filling ability of SFHPC was not excellent above $0.75\% of the steel fiber content. Also, the compressive strength of SFHPC was decreased with increase of the steel fiber content, but the flexural strength of SFHPC was much higher than that of the concrete without the steel fiber. At the impact resistance, drop number of SFHPC for reaching final fracture was increased with increase of the fiber content. Also, the drop number for reaching initial fracture of lmm was increased with increase of the fiber content. At the sulfuric acid resistance, 4-week weight change of SFHPC with the steel fiber was almost similarity that of HPC without the steel fiber and was in the range of 73.6 to 81.5.

  • Compaction is a process of increasing soil density using physical energy. It is intended to improve the strength and stiffness of soil. In embankment, degree of compaction affects the construction time, money, also method of soil improvement. In large scale embankment project, difficulties of embankment should change due to uncertainty of settlement. So it is very important to predict the final settlement and factor of safety induced by embankment. In many construction site, there are primarily design of high embankment using in-situ soil. Therefore numerical analyses are necessary for valid evaluation of the settlement prediction. But due to the construction cost and schedule, there were lacking in properties of soil and also limited number of in-situ test were performed. So we proposed the method that can easily estimate the proper soil parameters and suggest the proper method of numerical analysis. From this, two-dimensional finite-difference numerical analysis was conducted to investigate the settlement and factor of safety induced by embankment with various case of compaction rate and embankment height.

  • A new techique is proposed for suppressing sidelobes due to the wave reflected from the waveguide end in the traveling-wave slot array. In this approach we use multiple sections of reduced-height waveguide with the final section terminated with a short circuit instead of the conventional matched load. To show the validity of the proposed method, a Ku-band slotted waveguide is fabricated and tested. Measurements confirm the excellent sidelobe suppressing capability of the proposed method.

  • Single-tooth implantation has become a common treatment solution for replacement of a root-fractured maxillary incisor in adults, but the long-term esthetic results can be unfavorable due to progressive marginal bone loss, resulting in gingival recession. In this case report, a maxillary central incisor with a root fracture in its apical one-third was orthodontically extruded and extracted in a 21-year-old female. Implant surgery was performed after a 3-month healing period, and the final crown was placed about 12 months after extraction. After 12 years, favorable osseous and gingival architectures were visible with adequate bone height and thickness at the buccal cortical plate, and no gingival recession was seen around the implant-supported crown. Although modern dentistry has been shifting toward simplified, clinical procedures and shorter treatment times, both general dentists and orthodontists should be aware of the possible long-term esthetic advantages of orthodontic extrusion of hopelessly fractured teeth for highly esthetically demanding areas and should educate and motivate patients regarding the choice of this treatment solution, if necessary.

  • We performed temperature dependent current-voltage (I-V) measurements to characterize the electrical properties of $Au/Al_2O_3/n-Ge$ metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) diodes prepared with and without $H_2O$ prepulse treatment by atomic layer deposition (ALD). By considering the thickness of the $Al_2O_3$ interlayer, the barrier height for the treated sample was found to be 0.61 eV, similar to those of Au/n-Ge Schottky diodes. The thermionic emission (TE) model with barrier inhomogeneity explained the final state of the treated sample well. Compared to the untreated sample, the treated sample was found to have improved diode characteristics for both forward and reverse bias conditions. These results were associated with the reduction of charge trapping and interface states near the $Ge/Al_2O_3$ interface.
