  • In recent years, with the continuous innovation and upgrading of engine software, the real-time rendering technology in film and television has been continuously improved, and the virtual production technology has also developed rapidly. This paper introduces the green screen often used in traditional film production and a virtual production technology based on light-emitting-diode background wall that was proposed and implemented last year. We analyzed the two production methods of virtual production and compared their characteristics. Based on these results, we can better understand the differences and respective advantages of the two production methods. And we also can according to the production budget, production cycle and the creative and technical capabilities of the team make better choices during the production process. We believe virtual production technology will be production in the future to provide a more solid technical guarantee for the development of the film industry, and this work will pave the way for further research on virtual production technology.

  • The emergence of the new audiences floating across multimedia platforms and engaging in TV production and distribution have forced producers and broadcasters to think of not only the fragmented distribution of their content but also the development of a new format beyond the frame of traditional TV production. A Korean entertainment TV show My Little Television combining the form of live webcasting and traditional TV show reflects such a trend. Because of the distinct format, My Little Television carries out a unique strategy in managing the two screens - Internet and TV. The dualistic production requires all players to understand not only online subculture and communication styles and methods, but also implicit and explicit rules of traditional TV production. Through text and visual image analysis on the show, this study discusses how MLT negotiates with the original Internet text, the producers' paratext, and the supertext of the national TV network in the context of the transitory screen culture.

  • This study traces the growth and changes in the spatial distribution and characteristics of media cluster in Seoul by focusing on the co-evolution of film and TV production. To identify the spatial distribution and aggregation of film and broadcast TV production, we measure their spatial auto-correlation based on Moran's I and LISA, using the data from the Census on Establishments of the National Statistical Office. In addition, the eleven semi-structured interviews conducted with workers in the media industries, such as film crews and TV drama producers, help to clarify the complexity and dynamics of diverse factors that affect spatial distribution of media cluster. This multi-method study shows the increasing polycentricity of media cluster in the last decade. Gangnam, Mapo, Yeouido, Gangseo-Yeongdeungpo, and Seongsu have emerged as key hubs for media industries, particularly in light of changes in the transportation system and the real estate market. The finding indicates the co-evolution of film and broadcast TV production, demonstrating how the characteristics of the creative industry and metropolitan changes are intertwined with each other in shaping the geographical pattern of the media cluster.

However, only a few papers researched about television image production techniques, such as 'Relationship between TV ratings and image production techniques', 'Transition process of TV drama's image production techniques', and 'Comparison of TV and film image production techniques'. • As the cultural industry might be regarded as the most intimate industry to the general public, it is relatively easy to be widely accepted. With the development of the internet, not only people in various countries have been closely connected, but production networks around the world might also be connected with each other. This article will use data and case studies to clarify how global production networks operate in the development of the cultural industry. By taking the relatively novel point of contact of connection between global production networks and the development of the cultural industry, it summarizes the development models of the film, television and music sectors in the Korean cultural industries. The study found that the development model of the film, television and music industry from the 1990s to the present could be divided into four phases, and most firms are now in the outsourcing and expansion phase. Relying on the huge production networks, these two industries are likely to be improving their popularity and added value through global cooperation.
