Contingent Interactivity of New Media Contents: Film Re-cut and Game Modding (뉴미디어 콘텐츠의 우연적 상호작용성: 영화 리컷과 게임 모딩)

  • The purpose of this paper is to recognize and embody the implications of the concept of interactivity. Among the many types of interactivity already proposed, this paper sheds light especially on the so-called contingent interactivity. The contingency means a condition in which a particular performance or selection of a subject is considered neither necessary nor conclusive, and also the potential for various activities of this subject. The contingent interaction comes into being when the involvements of users in dealing with a message or content are experimental or creative. The interaction does not orient toward the completion of content or the immersion to a particular reality. Rather, the results of a user's contingent performance are not the finalized content and have characteristics that lead to the continuous modification. In order to embody this meaning of contingent interactivity, the paper examined the two example, the film re-cut and game modding. In both cases, it is comprehensive that the user of these two new media activities lies in the contingent situation.

A Novel Bottom-Gate Poly-Si Thin Film Transistors with High ON/OFF Current Ratio (ON/OFF 전류비를 향상시킨 새로운 bottom-gate 구조의 다결정 실리콘 박막 트랜지스터)

  • We have proposed and fabricated the new bottom-gated polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) thin film transistor (TFT) with a partial amorphous-Si region by employing the selective laser annealing. The channel layer of the proposed TFTs is composed of poly-Si region in the center and a-Si region in the edge. The TEM image shows that the local a-Si region is successfully fabricated by the effective cut out of the incident laser light in the upper a-Si layer. Our experimental results show that the ON/OFF current ratio is increased significantly by more than three orders in the new poly-Si TFT compared with conventional poly-Si TFT. The leakage current is decreased significantly due to the highly resistive a-Si re TFTs while the ON-series resistance of the local a-Si is reduced significantly due to the considerable inducement of electron carriers by the positive gate bias, so that the ON-current is not decreased much.

QUICK DETERMINATION OF MEAT COLOR, METMYOGLOBIN FORMATION AND LIPID OXIDATION IN BEEF, PORK AND CHICKEN BY NEAR-INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY

  • Meat becomes brown and rancid during storage in the refrigerator and display in the case. Color changes, metmyoglobin formation and lipid oxidation are the important problems in the transportation / distribution of meat and retail display. The freshness of meat is determined by the sense of vision and smell. Since conventional method determining lipid oxidation is time consuming and destructive (it needs to homogenize meat with reagents, filtrate, time for reaction and read optical density using spectroscopy), more rapid and nondestructive technical tools are desired. The objective of this work was to evaluate near-infrared spectroscopy as an analytical tool for determining meat color, metmyoglobin formation and lipid oxidation. in beef, pork and chicken. Semitendinosus and longissimus thoracis muscles from six beef steers, biceps femoris and longissimus thoracis muscles from twelve LWD crossbred pigs, and superficial pectoral muscles from twenty-four broilers were used. About a 5-cm diameter and 1-cm thick sample (20.0g) was cut from the muscle and placed on plastic foam, over-wrapped with PVC film, and displayed under flourescent lights at 4 degrees C. during 10 days for beef and pork or 4 days for chicken. The spectra was measured by NIR systems Model 5500 Spectrophotometer using fiber optic scan at range of 400 - 1100 nm. Data were recorded at 2 nm intervals and 10 scans / 10 sec were averaged for every sample. Data obtained were saved as log 1/Re, where Re is the reflectance energy, and then mathematically transformed to second derivatives to reduce effects of differences in particle size. $L^{*}$, $a^{*}$ and $b^{*}$, and metmyoglobin formation were determined by conventional spectrophotometer using the integrating sphere unit. 2-Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) were measured for lipid oxidation. A multiple linear regression was used to find the equation which would best fit the data. The number of wavelengths used in the equation was selected based on the fewer number compared to the increasing multiple correlation and Decreasing standard error. (omitted)
