Making a Well-made Story in Choi Dong Hoon's Films with Ten Million Audiences (최동훈 천만 관객 영화의 잘 짜여진 이야기 구성)

  • Choi Dong-hoon's films tend to have not been well treated academically in Korea. But from the point of view that his works have succeeded in box office and survived in the market for some reason, there seems to be new possibilities to treat them. In this paper, the two movies with ten million audiences, and that are Choi's original scenario and caper film genre are tried to examine the success factors in box office on "making well made story". Often, well-made films have both genre-customary and creative aspects. Choi Dong-hoon's movies are the same. and faithfully follow the rules of caper film genre. At the same time, these two films have complex adaptive systematic creativity, in which multiple characters are self-organizing with their story patterns actively. And since there is a proper coexistence of customary and original aspects in the and , these two films are seemed to be at the edge of the chaos, which is the most market adaptable.

Effects of Packing Materials on the Quality of Grape for Long-Term Market Circulation (장기유통을 위한 포장방법이 포도 품질변화에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to study the effect of packing materials on the quality of fares during storage period, grapes (Campbell Early) were packed with different materials such as expendable folystyrene (EPS) box, paper board box, biopaper board box, paper board box + small box, EPS box + (EPS dish + Bio-PE film sealing), md EPS box + (EPS dish + wrap sealing). The fruit weight loss was increased with the storage period by all the treatments. Weight loss was 6.38% lower in the EPS box+ (EPS dish + Bio film sealing) during 15 days of storage and 5.53% lower in EPS box + (EPS dish + wrap sealing) than that in the EPS box. The abnormal fruits were more increased in the sealing packing than in the non-sealing packing since water transpiration was prevented in the sealing treatment. Wilting fruits were also fewer in the sealing packing than that in the non-sealing treatment. The taste and appearance quality were worsened with increasing the storage days, whereas the appearance quality of the grapes in the bio paper board box was better. Hardness was scarecely changed in the EP5 box+ (EPS dish + Bio-PE film sealing) treatment than those by the other treatments. The soluble solid and acidity showed very little change but soluble solid content was more decreased in the sealing packing than that by the non-sealing treatment.

  • Consumer demand for products with health benefits and natural ingredients is significant for the expansion of functional foods. Edible films and coatings are an excellent way to diversify the market for functional foods and as substitutes for the prevailing packaging and products. Incorporation of whey protein (WP) and its active ingredients into edible films and coatings is a promising technique that can be applied to various food products. Numerous combinations can be used on an industrial scale depending on the purpose, product, nature of the film, type of active ingredient, and type of inclusions. In this review, we describe several characteristics of edible WP films and coatings used as novel packaging materials. WP-based packaging can play a beneficial role in sustainability because of the option of recycling materials rather than incinerating, as in synthetic laminates, because of the use of natural byproducts from the food industry as raw materials. However, cost-effectiveness is a driving force against industrial setbacks in current and future WP processing developments. The industrial application of this new technology depends on further scientific research aimed at identifying the mechanism of film formation to improve the performance of both the process and product. Furthermore, research such as consumer studies and long-term toxicity assessments are required to obtain significant market shares.

  • It is said that the highlight in the media covergence and integration within digital environment era is 'Contents'. Due to the advent of new media and various covergence and integration services, the competition between the platforms has become aggressive. As a result, it is predicted that the negotiation power of a 'Content's industry will be strengthened. In reality, the actual environmental changes in the media environment have accompanied elements of industrial crisis rather than opportunity to expand the market. The changes are especially causing sales structure distortion and proceeds deterioration in the Korean film industry. Moreover, telecommunication and broadcasting businesses are making their entrance into the film industry, through the appearance of the media covergence and integration as a backdrop. Thus, the situation that the Korean film industry is facing is closely associated with the development of the digital technology and new media environment. Eventually, weathering the crisis and pioneering the future will be possible through changes in the media environment. The purpose of this study is to show how the media covergence and integration phenomenon is occurring in the film industry. This study will also focus on what new problems are occurring as a result, and seek out the solutions that are available.

Effects of Postharvest Treatment of Plastic Film, Ethylene Scrubber, and Prolong on the Market Quality in 'Niitaka' Pears during Storage and Simulated Marketing (동양(東洋) 배 '신고(新高)'의 저장전(貯藏前) Plastic Film, Ethylene 제거제(除去劑) 및 Prolong처리(處理)가 저장(貯藏)과 유통조건(流通條件)에서 상품성(商品性)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This experiment was planned to find a proper postharvest handling technique of 'Niitaka' pears for storage. The effect of polyethylene film wrapping, ethylene scrubber, and Prolong application on maintanence of freshness were compared in prestored fruit.(60 days at $0^{\circ}C$). Weight loss was confirmed to be a major factor responsible for freshness loss during storage. Polyethylene film wrapping greatly reduced weight loss during storage but increased light skin browning. Also, in long-term storage, polyethylene film wrapping appeared not to be appropriate due to the severe occurrence of tissue senescence and/or senescence breakdown. Prolong application was found not to be effective on reducing weight loss as well as keeping freshness. Ethylene scrubber in polyethylene film wrapping effectively reduced the occurrence of light skin browning.

  • The need for biodegradable plastic continues to increase, improvement of physical properties is necessary for actual use in the market. In this study, composite film was produced by adding peroxide additives to bioplastic according to concentration to investigate changes in the melt index, elongation, morphology, and TGA of the composite film. The addition of peroxide compatibilizer showed superior elongation of film and TGA compared to those of control. The added amount of compatibilizer affected the extrusion process, and it was revealed that adding an appropriate amount of peroxidizer is important. Analysis of the composite film's morphology revealed a heterogeneous dispersion sequence due to different rates of crystallization depending on the resin, and surface physical properties were best in the group added with 4% peroxide. The results above showed that the test group added with 4% peroxide compatibilizer was superior in the production of composite biodegradable film.

SINTERED $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC SUBSTRATE FOR THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD

  • In 1957, the first magnetic disk drive compatible with a movable head was introduced as an external file memory device for computer system. Since then, magnetic disks have been improved by increasing the recording density, which has brought about the development of a high performance thin film magnetic head. The thin film magnetic head has a magnetic circuit on a ceramic substrate using IC technology. The physical property of the substrate material is very important because it influences the tribology of head/disk interface and also manufacturing process of the head. $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC ceramics, so called ALTIC, is known to be one of the best substrate materials which satisfies this property requirement. Even though the head is not in direct contact with the disk, frequent instantaneous contacts are unavoidable due to its high rotating speed and the close gap between them. This may cause damage in the magnetic recording media and, thus, it is very important that the magnetic head has a good wear resistance. $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC ceramics has an excellent tribological property in head/disk interface. Manufacturing process of thin film head is similar to that of IC, which requires extremely smooth and flat surface of the substrate. The substrate must be readily sliced into the heads without chipping. $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC ceramics has excellent machineability and mechanical properties. $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC ceramics was first developed at Nippon Tungsten Co. as cutting tool materials in 1968, which was further developed to be used as the substrate materials for thin film head in collaboration with Sumitomo Special Metals Co., Ltd. in 1981. Today, we supply more than 60% of the substrates for thin film head market in the world. In this paper, we would like to present the sintering process of $Al_{2}O_{3}$-TiC ceramics and its property in detail.

Environment Corresponding Package by Quantitative Mixing System with Functional Inorganic Material and Polyolefin Resin (기능성 무기물과 폴리올레핀계 수지의 정량적 혼합시스템에 의한 환경대응형 포장소재 개발)

  • A lot of research has been made over the recent decade to develop testing packages with antimicrobial properties to improve food safety. In this study, a new method, experimental device and technology for environmental corresponding packages of polypropylene (PP) film has been developed to provide effective temperature buffering during the transport/long-term storage of grains or foodstuffs from the supplier to the market. This quantitatively optimized mixing system enabled to produce PP films with the 700$\sim$1,400d (width;1.5$\sim$3mm, thickness;0.01$\sim$0.5mm). In the whole mixing systems, the finely-granulated inorganic illite and PP virgin chip for master batch (M/B) chip was calculated by digital measurement methods, and then the M/B chip for PP film was adapted through a air jet and PP grinding method. The prepared PP film was characterized with tensile strength and elongation, far infrared radiation (FIR) emissivity, antimicrobial activity and deodorization properties. The results revealed that the two differently grain-sized illite could be show homogeneously dispersed on PP chip surface, and as the increasing of illite content, the FIR emissivity and the anion emission rate of film was increasingly improved. In both of 325 and 1,500 mesh-sized illite contained PP chip, of course the antimicrobial activity was good. But the ultimate deodorization rate for ammonia gas of PP film were found to be approximately the same.

Optical Structures of Multilayer Coatings of Antireflection Lenses and their Transmission Characteristics (무반사 렌즈용 다층박막의 광학적 구조 및 광투과 특성)

  • Antireflection coatings on optical lenses commertially available in domestic market are optically analyzed. Transmission spectra and reflection spectra are collected using spectrophotometers. The apparent absorption spectra around the absorption band edge are dominated by the substrate absorption. The reflection spectra and the apparent absorption spectra at visible region between 400nm and 700nm show very strong correlation to each other except a couple samples. The discrepency observed in the latters are due to an increased absorption in visible region by the substrate, which is negative effect of these samples. An antireflection coating consisted of $SiO_2/TiO_2/SiO_2/ZrO_2/Cr$ is made on c-Si substrate for spectroscopic ellispometry analysis. A film-by-film coating is accomplished and between each film deposition, ex-situ spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements are made. The analysis of the spectroscopic ellipsometry data reveals that the average film densities of $ZrO_2$ and $TiO_2$ reach only 80% of their respective packing densities and thick films are inhomogeneous along film growth direction. Discussions are made toward in-situ, real-time monitoring of the film growth so that a real-time feedback is possible to achieve a post-correction to minor deviations occured in the previous step. step.

Packaging technology of fresh-cut produce (신선편의식품 포장기술)

  • Processing steps such as washing and cutting, involved in preparing fresh-cut produce causes tissue damage, leading to rapid quality deterioration. Major defects of fresh-cut produce are discoloration, softening, off-odor development, and microbial growth. Packaging of fresh-cut produce has been changed to reduce these quality problems. Flexible packaging film is widely used to pack fresh-cut produce. Vacuum packaging was the popular packaging method in the beginning of fresh-cut industry in Korea. Vacuum packaging creates high $CO_2$ and low $O_2$ levels to control browning of fresh-cut produce. However, these conditions induce some visual defects and off-odor development. Discoloration problem was also found when fresh-cut produce was packaged with conventional packaging film or plastic tray. Modified atmosphere (MA) packaging is effective for prolonging shelf-life of fresh-cut produce by decreasing $O_2$ and increasing $CO_2$ concentration in the package. Retail MA packaging using different oxygen transmission rate (OTR) film and micro-perforated film has started to be applied to fresh-cut produce in Korea. Proper MA package design that provides optimum range of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ partial pressures is one of the major challenges in the industry. An initial package flushing with $N_2$ or an low $O_2$/high $CO_2$ atmosphere is also used to more rapidly establish steady-state MA condition. Film OTR and $O_2$ flushing affects the fermentative volatile production, off-odor development, electrolyte leakage, discoloration, $CO_2$ injury, microbial population of fresh-cut produce. There is also a demand for convenient packaging to attract consumers. Rigid fresh-cut produce container for retail market has increased since the packaging provides excellent protection from physical damage during transport. Rigid tray used as actual serving vessel for the consumer is increasing in Korea. The tray with flexible lid to wrap or seal fresh-cut produce is more and more gaining popularity. Further practical technology to control quality change and microbial growth for each fresh-cut product has been studied since various fresh-cut items were required. The fresh-cut industry also focuses on searching for more convenient and environmentally friendly packaging.
