The use of concrete filling offers a practical alternative for achieving the required stability of steel Hollow Structural Section (HSS) columns under fire conditions. However, current methods for evaluating fire resistance of Concrete Filled Hollow Structural Steel (CFHSS) columns are highly conservative as they are based on an elemental approach without due consideration to structural interactions that occur in framed structural systems. To overcome this limitation, a system level fire resistance analysis was carried out by treating CFHSS columns as part of an overall structural frame. In this analysis, an eight story steel-framed building was modeled under a range of standard and performance-based fire scenarios (including multi-story progressive burn-out fires) to evaluate the contribution of various structural members/assemblies to overall fire resistance. One of the primary factors considered was the use of concrete filling in HSS columns as an alternative to standard W-shape columns. Results from the analysis indicate that the use of CFHSS columns, in place of W-shape columns, in a performance-based environment can fully eliminate the need for applied fire protection to columns, while providing the required level of structural fire resistance.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between height of cutting and filling as well as the height of slope of roadsides. It also suggests the rational height of slope to minimize topographical damage in road construction. Hence, in this study, 44 cases of expert's opinions related to height of slope in Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) for road construction projects are reviewed, and 23 cases of data related to height of cutting and filling in EIA for road construction projects are used for analyzing relationship between height of slopes and height of cutting or filling of roadside. The results are as follows; Most of heights of cutting, filling and slope in EIA for road construction are over the required standards 20 or 30m(in case of cutting) and 10 or 15m(in case of filling). It also shows that there is high-level correlation between height of cutting and filling and height of slope of roadside. According to regression analysis, it is suggested that the general standard of each heights of cutting and filling are 25.33~33.23m(in case of cutting) and 14.56~18.08m(in case of filling), but it should be considered in EIA review for road construction projects that these heights suggested in this study are over the required standards.
In this study, centrifuge model tests were fulfilled to investigate the characteristics of bearing capacity of paper ash as a filling material. The model tests were done varying the footing width and gravity level. The settlement and vertical soil pressure by loading were measured. The results from the tests were compared with the one from FLAC program using finite difference method and bearing capacity theory. After all, it was shown that the characteristics of load-settlement represented the local shear failure, which the settlement ratio s/B showed inflection point around 25~30%. As g-level and footing width were increasing, the load strength was increasing. The ultimate bearing capacity from the tests was very closed the results from Terzaghi's theory. As the distance from footing center was increasing, the vertical soil pressure was decreasing. If E/B is higher than 7, the stress by loading was almost increasing. The vertical displacement from loading was the largest one around under the footing and was almost occurred when the depth>4cm and E/B is higher than 5.0.

Energy harvesting is an increasingly attractive source of power for cellular networks, and can be a promising solution for green networks. In this paper, we consider a cellular network with power beacons powering multiple mobile terminals with microwave power transfer in energy beamforming. In this network, the power beacons are powered by grid and renewable energy jointly. We adopt a dual-level control architecture, in which controllers collect information for a core controller, and the core controller has a real-time global view of the network. By implementing the water filling optimized power allocation strategy, the core controller optimizes the energy allocation among mobile terminals within the same cluster. In the proposed green energy cooperation paradigm, power beacons dynamically share their renewable energy by locally injecting/drawing renewable energy into/from other power beacons via the core controller. Then, we propose a new water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy, which jointly exploits water filling optimized power allocation strategy and green energy cooperation in cellular networks. Finally, we validate our works by simulations and show that the proposed water filling optimized green energy cooperation management strategy can achieve about 10% gains of MT's average rate and about 20% reduction of on-grid energy consumption.
In this study, a new direct shear apparatus was developed to investigate the shear characteristics of the rock joints at various conditions. Using the developed apparatus, various experiments on filled rock joints were carried out considering the asperity angle, the normal stress, the type and thickness of filling material and to investigated the basic shear characteristics of filled rock joints were analyzed. According to the experiments performed under the constant normal stress condition by varying the asperity angle, the type and thickness of filling material, it was shown that the behavior and strength of filled rock joint could be defined by the type and thickness of the filling material. The dilation angle of the filled joints was found to be smaller than that of unfilled rock joint, and thereby, the effect of roughness was also reduced due to the filling material. And critical thickness ratio varied according to stress level and roughness as well as the type of filing materials.
This study was performed to evaluate the sealing ability of various retrograde filling materials by using bacterial penetration and dye penetration test. One hundred and forty extracted human teeth with single, straight canals and mature apiece were collected and used for this study. All canals were instrumented using an engine driven Ni-Ti file (ProFile). After removing 3mm from the apex of tooth, a standardized 3mm root end cavity was prepared using an ultrasonic instrument. The 70 teeth were randomly divided into 7 groups : 6 groups for retrograde filling using Super-EBA, ZOE, Chelon-Silver, IRM, ZPC and amalgam. The 7th group was used as a negative control. Nail varnish was applied to all external root surfaces to the level of the reseated root ends to prevent lateral microleakages. The specimens were then sterilized in an ethylene oxide sterilizer for 24 hours. 2 mm of the reseated root was immersed in a culture chamber containing a Tripticase Soy Broth with a phenol red indicator. The coronal access of each specimen was inoculated every 72 hours with suspension of Proteus vulgaris. The culture media were observed every 24hours for color change indicating bacterial contamination. The specimens were observed for 4weeks. The remaining 70 teeth were submitted to a dye penetration test. The canals of all teeth were first sealed with AH26 and obturated using an Obtura II system. Root resection, root end preparation and retrograde filling was performed as above. All specimens were suspended in 2% methylene blue dye for 72 hours before being ion gitudinally split. The degree of dye penetration was then measured using a stereomicroscope at 10 magnification and evaluated. The results were as floows : 1. In the bacterial penetration, the degree of leakage was the lowest in the Super-EBA, followed by, in ascending order, ZOE, Chelon-Silver IRM and ZPC. The amalgam showed highest bacterial leakage of all(p<0.01). 2. In the dye penetration, the degree of microleakage was the lowest in the Chelon-Silver and Super-EBA, followed by, in ascending order, IRM, ZPC. The ZOE and amalgam showed the highest microleakage of all (p<0.05). These results suggested that the eugenol based cement, Super-EBA, have excellent sealing ability as a retrograde filling material.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of thickness on the degree of cure of dual-cured composite core. 2, 4, 6, 8 mm thickness Luxacore Dual and Luxacore Self (DMG Inc, Hamburg, Germany) core composites were cured by bulk or incremental filling with halogen curing unit or self-cure mode The specimens were stored at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and the Knoop's hardness of top and bottom surfaces were measured. The statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Tukey's test at p = 0.05 significance level. In self cure mode, polymerization is not affected by the thickness. In Luxacore dual, polymerization of the bottom surface was effective in 2, 4 and 6 (incremental) mm specimens. However the 6 (bulk) and 8 (bulk, incremental) mm filling groups showed lower bottom/top hardness ratio (p < 0.05). Within the limitation of this experiment, incremental filling is better than bulk filling in case of over 4 mm depth, and bulk filling should be avoided.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the void of root canal filling over time when a calcium silicate sealer was used in the single gutta-percha cone technique. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four J-shaped simulated root canals and twenty-four palatal root canals from extracted human maxillary molars were instrumented with ProFile Ni-Ti rotary instruments up to size 35/0.06 or size 40/0.06, respectively. Half of the canals were filled with Endoseal MTA and the other half were with AH Plus Jet using the single gutta-percha cone technique. Immediately after and 4 weeks after the root canal filling, the samples were scanned using micro-computed tomography at a resolution of 12.8 ㎛. The scanned images were reconstructed using the NRecon software and the void percentages were calculated using the CTan software, and statistically analyzed by 1-way analysis of variance, paired t-test and Tukey post hoc test. Results: After 4 weeks, there were no significant changes in the void percentages at all levels in both material groups (p > 0.05), except at the apical level of the AH Plus Jet group (p < 0.05) in the simulated root canal showing more void percentage compared to other groups. Immediately after filling the extracted human root canals, the Endoseal MTA group showed significantly less void percentage compared to the AH Plus Jet group (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Under the limitations of this study, the Endoseal MTA does not seem to reduce the voids over time.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of immediate or delayed composite resin filling on dentinal microtensile bond strength (${\mu}TBS$) after applied the adhesive. The coronal dentin of human third molars was exposed. Single-Bond or One-Step was applied on the dentin surfaces. and composite resin were constructed immediately (group 1) or 5min., 10min., 15min., 20min. and 30min. (groups 2-6) after an adhesive was applied. The specimens were sectioned and made bar-shaped. Each surface area of them was about $1\textrm{mm}^2$. The ${\mu}TBS$ test was performed by EZ test. The results were analysed by One-way ANOVA and Tukey's test at 95% significance level. The results suggested that the ${\mu}TBS$ of Single-Bond to dentin was decreased when the composite resin was constructed 20min. and 30min. after Single-Bond was applied. But the ${\mu}TBS$ of One-Step was not affected by delayed composite resin filling.
