Purpose: This study was conducted to assess the effect of hard and/or soft tissue grafting on immediate implants in a preclinical model. Methods: In 5 mongrel dogs, the distal roots of P2 and P3 were extracted from the maxilla (4 sites in each animal), and immediate implant placement was performed. Each site was randomly assigned to 1 of the following 4 groups: i) gap filling with guided bone regeneration (the GBR group), ii) subepithelial connective tissue grafting (the SCTG group), iii) GBR and SCTG (the GBR/SCTG group), and iv) no further treatment (control). Non-submerged healing was provided for 4 months. Histological and histomorphometric analyses were performed. Results: Peri-implant tissue height and thickness favored the SCTG group (height of periimplant mucosa: 1.14 mm; tissue thickness at the implant shoulder and ±1 mm from the shoulder: 1.14 mm, 0.78 mm, and 1.57 mm, respectively; median value) over the other groups. Bone grafting was not effective at the level of the implant shoulder and on the coronal level of the shoulder. In addition, simultaneous soft and hard tissue augmentation (the GBR/SCTG group) led to a less favorable tissue contour compared to GBR or SCTG alone (height of periimplant mucosa: 3.06 mm; thickness of peri-implant mucosa at the implant shoulder and ±1 mm from the shoulder: 0.72 mm, 0.3 mm, and 1.09 mm, respectively). Conclusion: SCTG tended to have positive effects on the thickness and height of the periimplant mucosa in immediate implant placement. However, simultaneous soft and hard tissue augmentation might not allow a satisfactory tissue contour in cases where the relationship between implant position and neighboring bone housing is unfavorable.
In a typical living space, windows are directly exposed to the external noise environment. The best way to reduce outside noise is to block it from the outside, not the inside. Exterior blinds for blocking sunlight are commercialized in various ways. However, it has not yet been actively utilized in Korea. In the previous study, an experiment was conducted in an accredited laboratory to verify the sound insulation performance of an external motorized blind manufactured for shading. And it was verified that there is a sound insulation performance of 6 dBA compared to the reduction performance of a general window. In this study, we tried to confirm the reduction performance by applying the sound insulation performance of external electric blinds to windows in actual living spaces. In addition, an improvement plan was sought to increase the effective noise reduction performance. As a result of the measurement, the reduction performance of the external motorized blind itself was insufficient at the level of 1 dBA to 3 dBA. However, additional reduction performance of the 2 dBA level was confirmed by filling the gap between the blind slits.

Objectives: This study investigated the incidence of root dentin defects after the use of different post space preparation (PSP) drills. Materials and Methods: Seventy-two bovine incisors were selected and obtained 14-mm-long root sections. Twelve roots served as controls with no intervention (G1). The 60 root canals remaining were instrumented using the crown-down technique with the ProTaper Next system and obturated using the lateral condensation technique. Specimens were randomly distributed into 5 groups (n = 12) according to the operative steps performed: G2, root canal instrumentation and filling (I+F); G3, I+F and PSP with Gates-Glidden drills; G4, I+FI+F and PSP with Largo-Peeso reamers; G5, I+F and PSP with Exacto drill; and G6, I+F and PSP with WhitePost drill. Roots were sectioned at 3, 6, 9, and 12 mm from the apex, and digital images were captured. The presence of root dentin defects was recorded. Data were analyzed by the χ2 test, with p < 0.05 considered to indicate statistical significance. Results: Root dentin defects were observed in 39.6% of the root sections. No defects were observed in G1. G5 had significantly more cracks and craze lines than G1, G2, and G3 (p < 0.05), and more fractures than G1, G2, G3, and G4 (p < 0.05). When all root sections were analyzed together, significantly more defects were observed at the 12-mm level than at the 3-mm level (p < 0.05). Conclusions: PSP drills caused defects in the root dentin. Gates-Glidden drills caused fewer root defects than Largo-Peeso reamers and Exacto drills.
The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of awareness and need for dental health insurance of parents with children under 12 years of age, and provide it as basic data for the development of the dental health insurance system in the future. It was conducted with 158 parents who are raising children under the age of 12 in Busan and Gyeongnam areas. In the case of mothers(p=.001), the higher the age (p=.005), the higher the experience of sealant. In the case of mothers, the knowledge of sealant (p=.012) was high. When the gender was female (p=.026), the parenting relationship was mother (p=.006), and regularly engaged in vocational activities (p=.003), the awareness of resin filling was high, and the experience was the child's age (p=. 004) was higher, the higher the knowledge was when the parenting relationship was mother (p=.024). The factors influencing the satisfaction of sealant were found to be the parents education level (p=.004), the awareness of the sealant (p=.003), and the experience (p=.011). From the above research results, more active publicity is needed to increase the awareness and experience of parents' health insurance.
This study was carried out to investigate the influence of stem materials such as black stem on the quality of expended stem and cigarettes. Normal and black stem were separated by tobacco scan and then, those stems were expanded after treating with their respective stem casings. Total sugar, ether extract, ash contents and pH were slightly low in black stem compared with normal stem. However, the number of bacteria and fungi ratio were remarkably higher in black stem than that of normal stem. As compared with normal stems, ratio of rushed stem in rolled process was approximately 2 times higher in black stem with the consequency that the filling capacity of black stem was decreased. The ratio of large particles (> 3.35 mm) of expanded black stem showed decreasing tendency and small particles rate (1.40 mm <) was increased compared with normal stem. When expanded stems were prepared using stem containing 5 levels (0, 10, 20, 30 and 100 %) of black stem, the filling capacity was decreased and static burning rate was significantly decreased with increasing expanded black stem rate. However, the weight and hardness of cigarettes were slightly increased with increasing expanded black stem rate. The contents of phenol compounds, aromatic amines and carbonyl compounds in the cigarette mainstream smoke from the cigarette which was manufactured with various ratio of expended black stem, were gradually increased with increasing expanded black stem rates. Also, the cytotoxicity and the mutagenicity of the TPM were significantly increased with increasing expanded black stem rate. The sensory test result showed that cigarettes blended with 10 and 30 % level of black stem rate was exhibited significantly high sensory attributions such as off-taste, impact, hotness, bitterness and irritation as compared with cigarette blended with normal stem, while smoke fullness and cleanness were slightly decreased with increasing expanded black stem rates. The number of brown spots on cigarettes paper was 2 to 3 times high in cigarettes containing black stem than that of cigarette made from normal stem and were high with increasing black stem rate. The overall assessment in this study suggest, that black stem should not be used because of bad quality of expanded stem and high toxicological activity of cigarette mainstream smoke.
It is very iterative and complicated work to enter the personal information every time one fills the form-based resume or one joins the new membership page on the internet. Although there are some systems that have the personal information on the computer and fill the membership page automatically, their accuracies are not often satisfactory in that the fields and their values do not match exactly. The research proposes and implements a system that has user's information on the computer and reasons and fills the information automatically that a membership web page(target page) requests using the personal information ontology. During the reasoning process, the target page is analyzed to extract the requested fields. Then the requested field names are converted to the standard field names using synonym ontology. The converted requested fields find the appropriate level in the personal information ontology using ontology match making to generate the final field value. The system not only finds the similar fields but also generates the exact field values by reasoning on the information ontology hierarchy. By experimenting with several membership pages on the web, the system showed higher accuracy over the existing systems. The system can be easily applicable to the cases where one iteratively fills the same information such as resume form.
The GaP crystals were grown by synthesis solute diffusion method and its properties were investigated. High quality single crystals were obtained by pull-down the crystal growing ampoule with velocity of 1.75mm/day. Etch pits density along vertical direction of ingot was increased from 3.8 ${\times}{10^4}$c$m^{-2}$ of the first freeze to 2.3 ${\times}{10^5}$c$m^2$ of the last freeze part. The carrier concentration and mobilities at room temperature were measured to 197.49cc$m^2$/V.sec and 6.75 ${\times}{10^{15}}$c$m^{-3]$, respectively. The temperature dependence of optical energy gap was empirically fitted to $E_g$(T)=[2.3383-(6.082${\times}{10^{-4}}$)$T^2$/(373. 096+TJeV. Photoluminescence spectra measured at low temperature were consist with sharp line-spectra near band-gap energy due to bound-exciton and phonon participation in band edge recombination process. Zn-diffusion depth in GaP was increased with square root of diffusion time and temperature dependence of diffusion coefficient was D(Tl = 3.2 ${\times}{10^3}$exp( - 3.486/$k_{\theta}$T)c$m^2$/sec. Electroluminescence spectra of p-n GaP homojunction diode are consisted with emission at 630nm due to recombination of donor in Zn-O complex center with shallow acceptors and near band edge emission at 550nm. Photon emission at current injection level of lower than 100m A was due to the band-filling mechanism.
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the BLEVE probability of LP gas storage tanks which are relatively more dangerous, by the deductive calculating method using the results of Birk's pilot tank test and the required heat capacity of BLEVE. The result that BLEVEs can occur in only above 43.68 percent of liquid filling level under $600^{\circ}C$ of tank pate temperature and $53^{\circ}C$ of inner liquid temperature, was obtained and will be useful for preventing the BLEVE of LP gas storage tanks in fire sites. In addition, this research showed conditions of external leak and fire causing BLEVE, based on 15ton capacity of LP gas tank which has the same specifications as those in Puchon LP gas filling station accident. The result of the calculation is that the minimum pool fire conditions of BLEVE are above 7.2mm equivalent diameter under a liquid release condition and above 17.6mm equivalent diameter under a two-phase release condition. In the end, the result of calculating the pool size corresponding the above conditions using EFFECTS version 2.1, concludes that a minimum of 3.3 meters of diameter and 10.4 meters of height should be needed for BLEVE outbreak.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess prospectively the clinical outcome of nonsurgical endodontic treatment and identify patient- and tooth-related factors, rather than treatment-related factors, that were the best predictors of this outcome. Materials and Methods: The inception cohort comprised 441 teeth (320 patients) and 175 teeth (123 patients) were followed up for 1-2 years. Age, gender, presence of medical disease, number of canals, previous endodontic treatment, presence of sensitivity and pain, pulp vitality, swelling or sinus tract of pulpal origin on the gingiva, periapical radiolucency and tendency of unilateral bite on the affected tooth were recorded at treatment start. Results: The outcome was classified on the basis of periapical radiolucency as healed or non healed. The overall healed rate in these cases, including nonsurgical retreatment, was 81.1%. Four tooth-related factors had a negative impact in the bivariate analysis: previous endodontic treatment, necrotic pulp, preoperative gingival swelling or sinus tract of pulpal origin, and preoperative periapical radiolucency. Stepwise logistic regression analysis including patient-, tooth-related factors and level of the root canal filling as a treatment-related factor showed that preoperative gingival lesion (odds ratio [OR]: 4.4; p = 0.005), preoperative periapical radiolucency (OR: 3.6; p = 0.011), and $\leq$ 1-2 mm under root filling length (OR: 9.6; p = 0.012) were significant predictors of failure. Conclusions: A preoperative gingival lesion of pulpal origin can influence the outcome of nonsurgical endodontic treatment in addition to preoperative periapical radiolucency.
This study was conducted to investigate the natural origin of fluorine contained in the rocks within the Eulwangsan area via petrological and mineralogical analyses. The main geology of the Yongyudo Eulwangsan area is Triassic biotite granite. Biotite granite and mylonite are the major rock types containing fluorine at high levels (up to 1,700 and 2,400 mg/kg for biotite granite and mylonite, respectively). In the case of the biotite granite, a high concentration of fluorine can be contributed to fluorite, and the results of microscopic analyses show that the fluorite was observed as small veinlets filling cleavages and micro-fractures within alkali-feldspars and plagioclases, or observed together with quartz in ore veins, indicating the secondary formation of fluorite by hydrothermal fluids. In mylonite, on the other hand, a high fluorine concentration is attributable to sericite. Microscopic analyses revealed that the boundary between sericite and surrounding quartz was not clear, the sericite occurred filling the micro-fractures of quartz and encapsulating small quartz cataclasts. These results indicate that the sericite was also formed as a result of hydrothermal alteration. Consequently, it is speculated that the high fluorine level in the rocks of the Eulwangsan area of Yongyudo is of natural origin due to hydrothermal processes.
