  • A comparison of the welding performance of ship hull structural steels has been made. The weldability of steels especially designed for laser processing was compared to that of conventional hull and structural steels with plate thicknesses up to 12 mm. Autogenous laser beam welding was used to weld butt joints as well as skid and stake welded T-joints. The welds were assessed in accordance with the document "The Classification Societies" Requirements for Approval of $CO_2$ Laser Welding Procedures" Small imperfections in the weld only grew slightly in root bend tests and they only had a minor influence on the fatigue properties of laser fillet welded joints. In Charpy impact tests, the 27 J transition temperature of the weld metal and HAZ ranged from below -60 to $-50^{\circ}C$. The amount of martensite in the weld metal depended on the carbon equivalent of the steel with the highest amounts and highest hardness levels in conventional EH 36 (389 HV 5). Thermomechanically rolled steels contained less martensite and showed a correspondingly lower maximum hardness.ximum hardness.

  • Because the quantitative relationships between welding parameters and welding result are not yet blown, optimal values of welding parameters for $CO_2$ robotic arc welding is a difficult task. Using the various artificial data processing methods may solve this difficulty. This research aims to develop an expert system for $CO_2$ robotic arc welding to recommend the optimal values of welding parameters. This system has three main functions. First is the recommendation of reasonable values of welding parameters. For such work, the relationships in between the welding parameters are investigated by the use of regression analysis and fuzzy system. The second is the estimation of bead shape by a neural network system. In this study the welding current voltage, speed, weaving width, and root gap are considered as the main parameters influencing a bead shape. The neural network system uses the 3-layer back-propagation model and a generalized delta rule as teaming algorithm. The last is the optimization of the parameters for the correction of undesirable weld bead. The causalities of undesirable weld bead are represented in the form of rules. The inference engine derives conclusions from these rules. The conclusions give the corrected values of the welding parameters. This expert system was developed as a PC-based system of which can be used for the automatic or semi-automatic $CO_2$ fillet welding with 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6mm diameter the solid wires or flux-cored wires.

  • This paper describes the process planning system of a computer-aided design of blanking and piercing for irregularly shaped sheet metal products. An approach to the system is based on knowledge-based rules. The process planning system is designed by considering several factors, such as the complexity of blank geometry, production feasibility of products, and punch profile complexity. Therefore this system which was implemented production feasibility check and strip layout module can carry out a process planning considering a production feasibility area of both internal and external features, a dimension of blanked hole, a coner and a fillet radius for irregualrly shaped sheet metal products and generate the strip layout in graphic froms. Knowledges for process planning are extracted from plasticity theories, handbooks, relevant references and empirical know- hows of experts in blanking companies. This provides powerful capabilities for process planning system of irregularly shaped sheet metal products.

  • Swim up fry of the Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, were fed 0 or 60 mg l7-methyltestosterone (MT) per kg feed for 30 days. Fish that had been fed 0 or 60 ppm MT for the first 30 days were subsequently fed a commercial diet for 56 weeks to evaluate growth, survival, sex ratio, body composition, gonadosomatic index and the total edible portion. Mean body weight of MT treated group and untreated group were 1.7 g and 1.1 g, respectively at the end of the treatment for 30 days $(P<0.05)$. The experiment was terminated after a total of 60 weeks, the mean body weight of the MT treated population was 1,016 g and that of the untreated population was 762g $(P<0.05)$. However, the final mean body weight of untreated males (l, 086g) was not significantly different from treated males (l,016 g), but the mean body weight of the female group was 512 g. Therefore, the reason for the lower mean body weight of the untreated group was entirely due to stunted females. The percentage fillet yield of MT treated fish$(34.6\%)$ was not significantly different from that of the untreated males $(34.4\%)$, but the untreated females were lower than those of both treated and untreated male groups $(32.4\%)$ (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the percentage of the all edible portion (AP) between MT treated and untreated males, but females were lower than males. Females are smaller fish in size and the gonads are larger in proportion which were discarded along with the intestine this explains the observed difference. Total biomass of the two groups were 134.8kg and 104.5kg per $m^3$, respectively. The proportion of fish reaching a marketable size of over 800 g in body weight within 14 months were $78\%$ in the MT treated group and $41\%$ in the untreated group.

  • Above all Ni-alloys Inconel 625 is used widely in plate of welding structural materials such as turbine case, a combustor of liner. In general, weldability of Inconel 625 is not well because of poorly liquids of weld metal also it have a broken probability oj the welding crack. In case of FCAW weld process, it is not easy to develope of welding materials, because it is possible only fillet welding at view position of look down except for butt welding. But recently, though it is more used by FCAW process, owing to welding materials worked at the vertical position. the study for FCAW weld of Inconel 625 is actively not yet worked. In this study, the weldability and weld characteristics(mechanical characteristics, corrosive property) of Inconel 625 are considered in FC4W weld associated with the several shielding gases$80\%Ar\;+\;20\%\;CO_2,\;50\%Ar\;+\;50\%\;CO_2,\;100\%\;CO_2$ in viewpoint of welding productivity. The results of impact test are follows; It was evaluated 70J at shielding gase of $100\%\;CO_2$, and obtained about 35J at the other shielding gases. If it was used for parts be required the impact value at the extremely low temperature, it is expected to have the advantage of using the $100\%\;CO_2$ shield gase than the others.

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the microbiological quality of home-delivered meals during production and delivery for children from low-income families. Production flows from a facility in Seoul that provides home-delivered meals were analyzed and the time-temperature of the food was measured. Microbiological assessment was performed for the production environment, personal hygiene, and food samples at each production and delivery step based on the process approach. It took 2 hours or longer from completion of production to meal delivery. An aerobic colony count (ACC) and coliform were not detected at knives, cutting boards, and dish towels. However, ACC (at pre-preparation, preparation, and packing areas) and coliform (at the preparation area) were detected on the hands and gloves of employees. Air-borne bacterial counts varied according to day and preparation area (ND~6 CFU/plate/15 min). Food temperatures, on the completion of production and meal delivery, fell into temperature danger zones. ACC and coliform counts of raw ingredients did not decrease after pre-preparation (washing and sanitizing) for menus involving food preparation with no cook step. ACC decreased after cooking step for menus of food preparation with cook step, but the ACC of the stir-fried and seasoned dried filefish fillet on the completion of cooking was too numerous to count due to improper heating. The ACC of seasoned young Chinese cabbages (a menu with complex food preparation) increased during delivery (from 2.5 log CFU/ml to 5.0 log CFU/ml). This qualitative assessment of foodborne pathogens revealed that B. cereus was detected in vegetable and meat product menus. These results suggest time-temperature control is necessary during production and delivery and management guidelines during production of home-delivered meals are provided for safe production.

  • A vibro ripper utilizes high-frequency vibration for rock fragmentation. This concept is different from those used by other existing breakers. The gearbox-shank welded joint of a vibro ripper is a very important part. Because it delivers the vibromotive force to the tooth, it is important to predict its soundness. This study was conducted to predict the fatigue life under welding conditions. The shank materials were Hardox-Hituf and AR400, and the filler metals were CSF-71T and CSF-81T. Fatigue tests were conducted under each set of conditions. P-S-N curves are presented based on the statistical testing method recommended by JSME-S002, and a comparison is made of the results under each set of conditions. The life was estimated using a P-S-N curve.

  • This paper describes computer-aided forging design for rib/web shaped parts. In manufacturing a part by means of forging process, the first step is to design the forging. This is done by modifying the given machined part geometry according to the requirements of the forging process. Traditionally, this is done by experienced forging designers using empirical forging design guidelines. Generally, it would be neither possible nor practical to develop a system which encompasses the design of all types of forgings. Accordingly, forging design can be simplified by considering critical two dimensional cross sections of the machined part geometry. This system is composed of three modules(process variable decision module, forging design module and redesign module) and each module is carried out in regular sequence. In the process variable decision module, first of all, the undercut is checked and modified, and then deep recesses and holes difficult to forge are eliminated. Also parting line, forging plane, forging plan view area, forging weight and maximum size(maximum height or width)are determined. In the forging design module, the magnitude of various allowances, draft angle, minimum web thickness, corner and fillet radius are determined and then geometry modification is performed. Finally, since the design rules and databases used in this system are based on parameters of the forging geometry, such as the trimmed forging plan area, forging weight, forging maxmum size, plausible estimates need to be made for these parameters. Therefore, in the re-design module, the design process is iterated until a satisfactory forging is obtained.

  • High pressure storage of the agent gas in fire suppression system was composed of tank, main valve and safety valve, which prevents the fracture of the high pressure storage. The safety valve has circular thin plate as fracture plate that was destroyed over fracture pressure. When inner pressure of the storage is reached the fracture pressure, the safety valve discharges gas and degrades simultaneously the inner pressure of the storage. There are design variables such as flow path diameter, inner diameter of the plastic packing ring, thickness of plate and fillet radius. In this variables, thickness of plate is set to be a value of 0.2mm. The main effect of variables on the inner pressure, has been decided using factorial design and statistical analysis. Therefore, the relation of variables are expressed by regression equation. It is disclosed results that the difference of fracture pressures between the equation and experiment has $2{\sim}5%$. Finally, using response surface method, the optimal design of the safety valve could be decided with safety pressure of 25MPa, where the fracture occurs on circular thin plate.
