  • Fig leaves were extracted with methanol and then fractionated with ethyl acetate and various buffers to get active fractions and determined the antimicrobial activities. The acidic and phenolic fractions fractionated from the methanol extract of fig leaves showed the strong antimicrobial activities, but the basic and neutral fractions did not show any activities. The degree of antimicrobial activities of phenolic fraction against tested bacteria was higher than those of acidic fraction, but these against yeasts and mold were almost equivalent to those of acidic fraction. Especially, phenolic fraction was mostly affected on Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Four antimicrobial substances purified from the phenolic fraction which showed the strongest antimicrobial activities among the fractions from fig leaves, were identified as psoralen($C_{11}H_{6}O_{3}$, MW. 186), bergapten($C_{12}H_{8}O_{4}$, MW. 216), ${\beta}$-sitosterol($C_{29}H_{50}O$, MW. 414) and umbelliferone ($C_{9}H_{6}O_{3}$, MW. 162).

  • Fig leaves were extracted with methanol and then fractionated with ethyl acetate and various buffers to get active fractions, and their antimicrobial activities in each fraction were determined. Acidic fraction and phenolic fraction of fig leaves showed strong antimicrobial activities, but the basic fraction and neutral fraction did not show any activities. The degree of antimicrobial activities in phenolic fraction against tested bacteria were higher than those in acidic fraction, but these against yeasts and mold were almost equivalent to those in acidic fraction. Especially, phenolic fraction showed the strongest activities against Staphylococcuns aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Although there were some differences among microorganisms, minimum inhibition concentrations(MIC) in acidic and phenolic fractions against tested microorganisms were 0.05 to 0.1 g eq./ml and 0.01 to 0.25 g eq./ml, on the basis of fresh sample weight, respectively. Minimum lethal concentrations(MLC) in acidic and phenolic fractions were 0.25 to 2.00 g eq./ml and 0.05 to 1.50 g eq./ml, respectively. These supposed the antimicrobial activities in phenolic fraction were generally higher than those in acidic fraction and also phenolic fraction had lower MIC and MLC values than acidic fraction.

  • The purpose of this article is to examine correlation between femoral rotational angle and subjective satisfaction of high tibial osteotomy outcome of the range of motion of knee joint. The subjects were 15 patients (6 males, 9 females) with primary osteoarthritis undergoing high tibial osteotomy from June of 2004 to August of 2008. They were CT tested on the knee joint before and after high tibial osteotomy. TEA (Fig. 1) and Akagi's line (Fig. 2) are analyzed as percentages. The Kendall's and Spearman's nonparametric correlation coefficient were used for the statistical tests with 0.5 level of significance. The result reveals that femoral rotational angle correlates with not the range of motion of knee joint but subjective satisfaction of the patients. Therefore, this will enable patients and physicians to have better clinical outcome.

  • The main purpose of this study was to identify the topics and research trends of international cadastral research using LDA. To achieve this goal, I reviewed the literature on LDA and international cadastral study and formulated four research questions that are topics of cadastral researchers, distribution of topics, the most influential topics and changes of topics over time. To answer these research questions, I analyzed 370 papers published in the FIG Peer Review Journal between January 1, 2008, and October 31, 2017, using LDA. As a result of the analysis, I confirmed that there are twelve major topics in international cadastral research. And the most influential topic of these topics was identified as topic 2(cadastral information systems), and topic 5(land development and land administration) was also confirmed as playing an important role in the overall document. These two topics have been the most popular topics whose trendlines have been very active over the past decade and will play a leading role in future cadastral research.

  • This study was performed to purify fig pectinesterase(F-PE) and characterize its in situ activity. Three kinds of F-PE were partially separated by using ammonium sulfate fractionation, Q-Sepharose column, CM-cation exchanger column chromatography, and HPLC. One of those was anionic protein and the others were cationic proteins. All of them had approximate molecular weight of 27,000 and lost rapidly their activity during storage. Therefore alternative crude enzyme was prepared by suspending the freeze dried and milled fig powder in 0.1 M NaCl at pH 7.5. F-PE had the optimum pH of 8.5, the optimum temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ with activation energy of 7,671 cal $mol^{-1}K^{-1}$ and stability up to $55^{\circ}C$ with 10 minutes heating. Optimum activity was obtained in $0.2{\sim}0.4$ M NaCl with optimum solubility at above 0.8 M NaCl.

  • Purpose : Hepatic arterial perfusion scintigraphy with Tc-99m-macroggregated albumin (HAPS) study was carried out in 16 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and in six patients without liver tumor to evaluate HAPS findings of hepatocellular carcinoma and usefullness of HAPS. Materials and Methods : HAPS with planar and SPECT study were performed in 22 patients after conventional hepatic or celiac arteriography. For HAPS study, 4-5 mCi of MAA mixed with 2ml of saline was injected into proper hepatic artery or its distal branches at the rate of approximately 1ml/sec. We analysed 21 HCCs over 2cm in diameter(average diameter; 6.4cm) and 17 of 21 HCCs were over 4cm in diameter(Table 1). CT, sonography and angiography were performed within two week in all 16 patients and liver scan was performed in 12 patients. Results : Three different pattern of tumor perfusion were observed in 16 patients with HCC (Table 2). 1) diffuse increased perfusion in 16 of 21(76%)(Fig. 1) 2) increased peripheral perfusion in 4 of 21(19%) (Fig. 2) 3) diffuse decreased perfusion in 1 of 21 (5%) Arteriovenous shunt indicated by lung uptake of MAA were observed in 9 of 16(56%)(Fig. 4). In contrast, angiography demonstrates arteriovenous shunt in 2 of 16(13%). There was no accumulation of radioactivity on RBC-blood pool scan in all six patients with HCC examined (Fig. 1). Conclusion : HAPS is useful study in evaluation of perfusion pattern or vascularity of HCC and in detection of arteriovenous shunt.

  • This paper presents the method of emergency warning system operation based on T-DMB and the design of T-DMB AEAS receiver model. The proposed receiver model compares the geographical location of emergency with the location of DMB transmitting station from T-DMB broadcasting signal and classifies the receiver location into alert region, neighboring region and non-alert region and transmits the emergency alert message according to each region. The geographical location of emergency can be obtained from FIG 5/2 EWS data field for AEAS message and the location of DMB transmitting station can be estimated from either the latitude and the longitude in main identifier and sub identifier in FIG 0/22 data filed for TII(Transmitter Identification Information) or TII distribution database. In our experiment, we implemented the proposed receiver model with display section, storage section, DMB module for receiving broadcasting signal and control section and performed test emergency alert broadcasting using T-DMB signal generator.

  • The present paper relates to an apparatus in which all carbonaceous material such as coal, oil, plastics and any substance having carbon atoms as part of its constituents are reformed(gasified) into syngas at temperature above $1,200^{\circ}C$(KR patent No.0391121, and PCT/KR2001/01717 and PCT/KR2004/001020). It comprises a single-stage reforming reactor without catalyst and a syngas burner as shown in Fig.2. syngas is combusted with $O_2$ gas in the syngas bunter to produce $M_2O$ and $CO_2$ gas with exothermic heat. Reaction products are introduced into the reforming reactor, reaction heat from syngas burner elevate the temperature of reactor above $1,200^{\circ}C$, and reaction products reduce carbonaceous material down to CO and $H_2$ gases. Reactants and heat necessary for the reaction are provided through the syngas burner only, Neither $O_2$ gas nor steam are injected into the reforming reactor. Reformer is made of ceramic inner lining and sst outer casing. Multiple syngas burners may be connected to the reforming reactor in order to increase the syngas output, and a portion of the product syngas is recycled into syngas burner. The present reformer as shown in Fig.2 is suitable to gasify carbonaceous wastes without secondary pollutants formed from oxidation. Further, it can be miniaturized to accompany a fuel cell system as shown in Fig.3 The output syngas may be used to drive a fuel cell and a portion of electrical power generated in a fuel cell is used to heat a compact reformer up to $1,200^{\circ}C$ so that gas/liquid fossil fuel can efficiently reformed into syngas. The fuel cell serves as syngas burner in Fig.2. The reformation reaction is sustained through recycling a portion of product syngas into a fuel cell and using a portion of electric power generated to heat the reformer for continuous operation. Such reforming reactor may be miniaturized into a size of PC, then you have a Personal Reformer(PR).

  • A cercosporoid fungus associated with angular leaf spots on the leaves of common fig (Ficus carica) in Korea is known to be morphologically similar to Passalora, but phylogenetically similar to Pseudocercospora. To clarify the ambiguity, six fig samples with angular leaf spots were collected and examined using a microscope, and two representative isolates were sequenced for multiple genes. The morphological characteristics were consistent with previous descriptions of Passalora bolleana. Molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the internal transcribed spacer and large subunit ribosomal DNA (rDNA) regions showed that the Korean isolates, as well as previously published Korean and Romanian isolates, formed a well-supported group in the clade of Pseudocercospora species. Consequently, the current Korean isolates should be correctly described as Pseudocercospora bolleana. Additionally, Pseudocercospora fici-caricae, a cercosporoid fungus previously described as a leaf pathogen on common fig in Taiwan and Korea, was also compared and discussed.

  • It is a diffcult and challenging pproblem to control the growth of eppitaxial films. Heteroeppitaxy is esppecially idfficult because of the lattice mismatch between sub-strate and depposited layers. This mismatch leads usually to a three dimensional(3D) island growth. But the use of surfactants such as As, Sb, and Bi can be beneficial in obtaining high quality heteroeppitaxial films. In this study medium energy ion scattering sppectroscoppy(MEIS) was used in order to reveal the growth mode of Ge on Si(001) and the strain of depposited film without and with dynamically supplied atomic hydrogen at the growth thempperature of 35$0^{\circ}C$. It was ppossible to control the growth mode from layer-by-layer followed by 3D island to layer-by-layer by controlling the hydrogen flux. In the absent of hydro-gen the film grows in the layer-by-layer mode within the critical thickness(about 3ML) and the 3D island formation is followed(Fig1). The 3D island formation is suppressed by introducing hydrogen resulting in layer-by-layer growth beyond the critical thickness(Fig2) We measured angular shift of blocking dipp in order to obtain the structural information on the thin films. In the ppressence of atomic hydrogen the blocking 야 is shifted toward higher scattering angle about 1。. That means the film is distorted tetragonally and strained therefore(Fig4) In other case the shift of blocking dipp at 3ML is almost same as pprevious case. But above the critical thickness the pposition of blocking dipp is similar to that of Si bulk(Fig3). It means the films is relaxed from the first layer. There is 4.2% lattice mismatch between Ge and Si. That mismatch results in about 2。 shift of blocking dipp. We measured about 1。 shift. This fact could be due to the intermixing of Ge and Si. This expperimental results are consistent with Vegard's law which says that the lattice constant of alloys is linear combination of the lattic constants of the ppure materials.
