  • This work deals with an intuitive method for a planar biped to walk, which is named Relative Trajectory Control (RTC) method. A key feature of the proposed RTC method is that feet of the robot are controlled to track a given trajectory, which is specially designed relative to the base body of the robot. The trajectory of feet is presumed from analysis of the walking motion of a human being. A simple method to maintain a stable posture while the robot is walking is also introduced in RTC method. In this work, the biped is modeled as a free-floating robot, of which dynamic model is obtained in the Cartesian space. Using the obtained dynamic model, the robot is controlled by a model-based feedback control scheme. The author shows a preliminary experimental result to verify that the biped robot with RTC method can walk on the even or uneven surfaces.

  • In order to achieve the most suitable designing of shoemaking, the structure of shoemaking is described in this study by inquiring into structural and functional effects given by shoes to human feet. Also, the role of insole that is an essential portion in view of function in shoemaking is described and. for the improvement of quality the fact that selection of material of insole has an effect to quality is substantiated through experiments of adhesive tensile and absorption percentage. Though identification of the qualify of insole with the naked eyes is impossible because it is inserted between the internal layers of a shoe. It is not only an essential portion for the improvement of the quality of shoemaking but it gives an essential effect to the sanitation and health of human body(feet) when insole of lower qualify is used. In view of these the improvement and enhancement of the quality of home-made material of insole are earnestly required.

  • Soft tissue tumors of the foot have a low incidence rate, and most of them are symptom free, thus it is difficult to diagnose accurately. Herein, we report a 15-year-old male patient who had swelling without pain on the lateral margin of both feet. We performed excisional biopsy of the abductor digiti minimi via subtotal resection, following radiograph and magnetic resonance imaging. According to the histological analysis, hypertrophy of abductor digiti minimi was positive, and other soft tissue tumors were negative. Six months after the operation, normal appearance of both feet was maintained and the patient was satisfied with the result.

  • This paper treats the implementation of a statically stable control system for a biped walking robot with 10 degrees-of-freedom. Statically stable walking of a biped robot can be realized by keeping the center of mass (COM) inside the sole of the supporting foot (or feet) during single-support or double-support phases. We predetermined five static positions for walking based on the COM method. The positions can be represented by the length of the gait, the width between the feet, the height of the foot and two parameters in the hip movement. With the five parameters, we calculated the position trajectory. And we got the angular trajectories of 10 joints from the posit ion trajectory using the position tracking control and neural network. By tracking the angular trajectories, the robot can walk maintaining stability. We implemented walking of a biped robot throught the above ...

  • This research investigates the possibility of using the postural sway of patients as a reference for measruing the progress of the disease and healing of patients who received total hip replacement; the progress of the disease by X-ray pictures, the pain felt by the patients, and the difficulties encountered in moving the joints. The measurements on the force platform were taken during a 25 second period standing on both feet and during a 5 second period standing on one foot with both eyes open. The result of the research showed that the trace and area of the overall length of postural sway was a good indicator which represented the healing progress of the patients who received total hip replacement, and the weakening of the muscles and the recovery process for 3 or 4 month after receiving the operation, which did not appear on X-ray pictures, were exhibited on the postural sway. Finally, standing on a single foot represented the healing progress much better than standing on both feet.

  • Backgroun and purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of high heel shoes on lumbar lordosis for young ladies. The most of ladies wear high heel shoes at least 4 to 5 days a week. Subjects: Subjects were 30 young ladies age between 20 to 30 years old who go to the Sahm Yook University. Methods: Participants were static standing position with bear feet, tennis shoes. and 6cm high heel shoes each different time. The ankles of subjects were 15 degree plantar flexion with 6cm high heel shoes. Metrecom Skeletal Analysis System v. 3. 10 was used to measure the lordosis of each subject. Results: The angle of the lordosis with high heel shoes showed the significant decrease omparing with the angle of lordosis with bear feet and tennis shoes. The mean difference is 2.57 degree. Conclusion: There is strong relationship between the high of heel with decreasing the lumbar lordosis(p<0.05).

  • Spray characteristics of the APU simplex fuel nozzle are investigated. Four flight conditions such as sea level idle, sea level max power, 20,000 feet idle, 20,000 feet max power are used as spray experimental conditions. Spray visualization was performed by using ND-YAG laser. Droplet size and velocity were measured by using PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. From the test result, SMD is 100 ${\mu}$m and velocity is 10 m/s at 20,000 ft idle condition. In this condition, flame unstability could be occurred due to the higher drop diameter. Therefore it is necessary to decrease the droplet diameter in the high altitude condition.

  • The weight of shoes may serve as a determining factor of perceived comfort and feel to the consumer in their purchase and repurchase decisions of footwear. People, however, seem to have trouble in accurately judging the feeling of weight of shoes on their feet. This paper made a psychophysical study of subjects′ sensitivity to weight on their feet and in their hands. The experiment consisted of 3 tests according to the motions people make when they evaluate the feel of shoes: 1) vertical lifting of a shoe on the foot ("hefting" in on the foot) 2) swing the shod foot back and forth; 3) holding and lifting a shoe by hand ("hefting" it in the hand). The method of constant stimuli and magnitude estimation were used for the experiment with 20 subjects. Weber′s ratios and the power law exponents obtained for each of the three tests were 0.156 and 0.713, 0.108 and 0.970, and 0.065 and 1.249, respectively in the same order of the previously listed tests.

  • This paper describes a new serial interface system which uses conventional 75 ohm coaxial cable. Typically parallel 25 pin cable and connectors are used to transfer and receive the data between digital systems such as HDVCR, D3 VTR and HDTV Receiver. The coaxial cable is more desirable for consumer product applications and also for studio applications where long signal paths and switching are required. This serial data transfer technique is thoroughly tested and utilied in the data transmission/reception between systems more than 200 feet apart. It is also cost effective because it does not require RF PLL, SCRAMBLING, and NRZI hardware.

  • A model test was carried out, in order to verify the hydrodynamic performances of public 30 feet class sailing yacht. In the initial design stage, the performances and the running attitude of sail yacht including the hull form and sail plan, appendages were estimated by VPP, from which made the representative test conditions. A new experiment system such as captive model device was composed because the running attitude could be changed by wind conditions. The test results show that the minimum resistance is generated in the heeling 20 degree, which was expected in the initial design stage. It is thought to be the useful informations that the keel has au effects on hydrodynamic forces and resistance differences between the upwind and the downwind condition.
