저수온기 돌돔 Opleganthus fasciatus 적정 섭취율 (Optimum Feeding Rate of Parrot Fish Oplegnathus fasciatus During the Low Temperature Season)

  • 외해가두리 시험양식 대상종으로 선정된 돌돔에 대하여 저수온기($15^{\circ}C$)에 1년어(62.7 g)와 2년어(344.7 g)에 대한 적정 배합사료 공급량을 조사한 결과, 돌돔 1년어(62.7g)의 적정배합사료 공급율은 어체중의 1.61% (만복의 90%)일 때 증체율 및 사료효율에서 높은 값을 나타내었다. $15^{\circ}C$에서 돌돔 2년어(344.7 g)에 대하여 적정 공급율을 조사한 결과는 어제중의 0.28% (만복의 80%)일 때 가장 높은 성장을 하였으나 시험구간에 오차가 컸고, 전반적으로 낮은 값을 나타내었다.

Effects of free feeding time system and energy level to improve the reproductive performance of lactating sows during summer

  • The reproductive performance of lactating sows was investigated by using different feeding methods including conventional feeding (CF, 3 times/d) or free feeding (FF), and different dietary energy level including low energy (LE: 3,300) or high energy (HE: 3,400 kcal/kg) during the hot season. A total of twenty-eight crossbred (Yorkshire × Landrace) sows were distributed into four treatments as a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. Sows in the FF group showed lower body weight and backfat loss (p < 0.05) compared with the CF group. Backfat loss during lactation was lower (p < 0.05) in sows fed HE diet than in that fed LE diet. There were no significant differences in litter survival rate and weaning to estrus interval, but the litter weight at weaning was improved (p < 0.05) in FF and HE sows. Hence, it is concluded that using the free-feeding system or increased dietary energy density leads to improved sow performance during hot ambient temperature.

무지개송어(Onchorhynchus mykiss)의 해수 적응 능력 개선을 위한 식염사료의 적용 (Use of Dietary Salt to Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) for Increasing Seawater Adaptability)

  • One 30-day feeding trial was conducted to examine the effects of dietary salt on seawater adaptability of rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) fed three experimental diets containing 0% (control), 4% and 8% salt. The experimetal period included 30 days of feeding trial in freshwater, 3 days of the step by step seawater acclimation with-out feeding diets, and 21 more days of seawater adaptation period (not with all experimental fish) with feeding the basal diet. Growth rates from triplicate groups were determined fur 30 days of feeding trial. Blood samples were taken at the begining and at the end of feeding trial, and 3 times (on 1st, 4th and 8th day) of the seawater adaptation period. Daily survival rates of duplicate groups from three experimetal treatments were recorded for 21 days of the seawater adaptation period. Total average initial and final fish weight were $149.5{\pm}7.6\;and\;187.1{\pm}7.6g$. Feed efficiency of fish fed diets containing 4% and 8% salt were significantly better than those of fish fed the control diet. Average cumulative survival rates were 72, 80 and 88% from the control, 4% and 8% salt diets, respectively. Pulse rate per minutes decreased with dietary salt level. Serum $Na^+\;and\;Cl^-$ concentrations of fish fed 4% and 8% salt diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed the control diet (P<0.05), however, the concentrations were stabilized after 8 days of seawater adaptation. Serum cortisol, glucose, cholesterol and tryglyceride concentrations, and the osmorality of fish decreased with dietary salt level, these values were significantly lower than those of fish fed the control diet. These results indicated that the dietary supplementation of salt could have advantages for seawater adaptability of rainbow trout.

Physiological Factors Depressing Feed Intake and Saliva Secretion in Goats Fed on Dry Forage

  • Ruminants eating dry forage secrete large volumes of saliva which results in decreased plasma volume (hypovolemia) and the loss of $NaHCO_3$ from the blood. The present research investigated whether or not hypovolemia and the loss of $NaHCO_3$ from the blood in goats brought about by dry forage feeding actually depresses feed intake and saliva secretion, respectively. The present experiment consisted of three treatments (NI, ASI, MI). In the control treatment (NI), a solution was not infused. In the ASI treatment, i.v. infusion of artificial parotid saliva was initiated 1 h before feeding and continued for the entire 2 h feeding period. In the MI treatment, iso-osmotic mannitol solution was infused. The NI treatment showed that hematocrit and plasma total protein concentration were increased due to decreased circulating plasma volume brought about by feeding. In the ASI treatment, the fluid and $NaHCO_3$ that were lost from the blood because of a feeding-induced acceleration of saliva secretion was replenished with an intravenous infusion of artificial parotid saliva. This replenishment lessened the levels of suppression on both feeding and parotid saliva secretion. When only the lost fluid was replenished with an intravenous infusion of iso-osmotic mannitol solution in the MI treatment, the degree of feeding suppression was lessened but the level of saliva secretion suppression was not affected. These results indicate that the marked suppression of feed intake during the initial stages of dry forage feeding was caused by a feeding-induced hypovolemia while the suppression of saliva secretion was brought about by the loss of $NaHCO_3$ from the blood due to increased saliva secretion during the initial stages of feeding.

  • A eight weeks feeding experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different dietary dimethyl-$\beta$-propiothetin (DMPT) levels on growth and chemical components in red sea bream (Pagrus major). The content of DMPT extracted from Ulva pertusa by auroclaving was 32.5mg%. Body weight gain, feed efficiency and feed intake were significantly increased with dietary DMPT level. After eight weeks of feeding trial, moisture content decreased with supplemented DMPT level, while crude protein and lipid contents increased with dietary DMPT level. Amino acid contents of muscle was elevated in the DMPT added groups compared to control group. Amino acid composition of muscle in fish fed the diets supplemented DMPT was not different to that of control group. Fatty acid contents of muscle in fish increased with dietary DMPT level.

  • 식이음 및 인공음에 대한 어류의 반응행동을 조사하기 위하여 농어의 식이음 및 인공음을 녹음하고 다시 이들을 수중에 방성하여 농어와 숭어의 반응행동을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 식이음에 대한 양의 주음반응은 농어는 강하게 나타내나 숭어는 미약한 반응을 나타내는 것 같다. 2. 식이음에 대한 양의 주음반응을 일으키게 하는데는 적정음압의 식이음을 방성하것이 효과적이었다. 3. 인공음에 대한 반응은 공시어들은 부의 주음반응을 나타내었다. 4. 시어들을 음원에서 멀어지게 하는데는 방성음의 음압을 증가시켜 방성하는 것이 더욱 효과적이었다.

  • This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary zinc and ethanol on the zinc content of serum and tissues. Eight male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain with average weight of 80$\pm$5g were divided into five groups such as C group: ad libitum control diet(100 ppm Zn) plus isocaloric sucrose solution CE group ; ad libitum control diet plus 25% ethanol solution PF group ; pair fed control to zinc deficient diet(5ppm Zn) plus isocaloric sucrose solution ZD grop ; ad libitum zinc deficient diet plus isocaloric sucrose solution and ZDE group ; ad libitum zinc deficient diet plus 25% ethanol solution. The rats were sacrificed after 4 and 7 weeks of feeding periods. The liver weights of ZD and ZDF groups were increased however the weight of testis was decreased in the same groups The content of serum zinc was infiuenced by the dietary zinc level and the amount was significantly decreased in the ZD group. The content of liver zinc was influnced by the dietary zinc level and the amount was decreased by ethanol feeding. The content of testis zinc was significantly low in the ZDE group. The zinc level of feces to be increased by the ethanol feeding.

경장 영양 제공 중환자의 영양 상태와 영양 지표 (Nutritional Status and Indicators of Intensive Care Unit Patients on Enteral Feeding)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the nutritional status and to compare nutritional indicators by caloric intake for intensive care unit patients, Methods: The participants for this descriptive investigation were 62 patients who were admitted to medical and surgical ICUs and started on enteral feeding. Data were collected in a tertiary hospital and the patients were followed for 7 days after enteral feeding was initiated. For analysis, patients who received 80% less calories than their required level were categorized as the underfed group and patients who received more than 80% to their required level, as the adequately fed group. Results: Compared to daily requirements, the prescribed calories and protein for patients overall were 77.39% and 64.75% respectively. The level of calories and protein given was less than their prescription. However, a comparison of the underfed group and the adequately fed group, showed that there was no significantly difference in albumin, prealbumin and transferrin. Only body weight was significantly different between the groups. C-reactive protein had a significant correlation with prealbumin and transferrin. Conclusion: Underfeeding is a common phenomenon among ICU patients. Nutritional indicators such as prealbumin, albumin and transferrin may not sensitive indicators to assess nutritional status of ICU patients.

영아 수유 방법에 관한 실태 조사 연구 - 경기 일부 지역을 중심으로 - (A study on the infant feeding methods)

  • In this study, I made researches of 510 mothers who breed their infants in total (256 boys & 254 girls), among which 410 in urban area and 100 in the rural area, as an object of the investigation so as to make an intensive examination and analysis of the actual state of feeding nutritive method, grasp several related factors, and finally suggest the elementary data for both campaign encouraging breast feeding and the infant feeding education. 1. Mothers showed the meaningful local differences as in an education and income level at 1% and as in a delivery type at 5%. 2. To have decided the feeding conditions according to the residences by the Kaup index distribution (P<0.05) resulted in a meaningful difference according to regions and also made us be more thoughtful of the overnutrition in the urban area than in the rural area, and it didn't showed a meaningful difference the nutritive state according to the infant feeding method thought desirable (P<0.01). 3. The feeding methods consist of breast feeding at 21.8%, artificial feeding at 48.8%, and the mixed one at 29.4%. As for the feeding method thought desirable, breast feeding was 52%. Even though they were thinking that breast feeding is better, the breast feeding case didn't go beyond 32.5% only and as for the actual feeding methods it showed a meaningful difference according to the feeding method thought desirable (P<0.01). 4. Regarding the reasons why they chose breast milk, it was 64%, the most because mother's milk contains the immune system, 63.1% for the baby's health, 52.3% because of its most because breast milk is of little quantity, 37.8% because of the mother's occupation, 14.1% because they have fed the baby artificially from the beginning and so on. Considering the reasons why they chose the mixed feeding, it was 70.7%, the most because the amount of breast milk a little, 27.3%, the next one, because of the mother's occupation and so on. 5. The respondents who answered that how to increase the number of breast feeding population depends on the reinforcement of breast feeding education for the women were 190 (37.3%), the most among all 150 persons and those who had the opinion that they should spread and actualize the temporary childcare rest (from office) system for the women who have jobs were the secondly most, 107 (21%).
