Lightweight Single Image Super-Resolution Convolution Neural Network in Portable Device

  • Super-resolution can improve the clarity of low-resolution (LR) images, which can increase the accuracy of high-level compute vision tasks. Portable devices have low computing power and storage performance. Large-scale neural network super-resolution methods are not suitable for portable devices. In order to save the computational cost and the number of parameters, Lightweight image processing method can improve the processing speed of portable devices. Therefore, we propose the Enhanced Information Multiple Distillation Network (EIMDN) to adapt lower delay and cost. The EIMDN takes feedback mechanism as the framework and obtains low level features through high level features. Further, we replace the feature extraction convolution operation in Information Multiple Distillation Block (IMDB), with Ghost module, and propose the Enhanced Information Multiple Distillation Block (EIMDB) to reduce the amount of calculation and the number of parameters. Finally, coordinate attention (CA) is used at the end of IMDB and EIMDB to enhance the important information extraction from Spaces and channels. Experimental results show that our proposed can achieve convergence faster with fewer parameters and computation, compared with other lightweight super-resolution methods. Under the condition of higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and higher structural similarity (SSIM), the performance of network reconstruction image texture and target contour is significantly improved.

A Study on the Prediction of the Nonlinear Chaotic Time Series Using a Self-Recurrent Wavelet Neural Network (자기 회귀 웨이블릿 신경 회로망을 이용한 비선형 혼돈 시계열의 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Unlike the wavelet neural network, since a mother wavelet layer of the self-recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN) is composed of self-feedback neurons, it has the ability to store past information of the wavelet. Therefore we propose the prediction method for the nonlinear chaotic time series model using a SRWNN. The SRWNN model is learned for the modeling of a function such that the inputs arc known values of the time series and the output is the value in the future. The parameters of the network are tuned to minimize the difference between the nonlinear mapping of the chaotic time series and the output of SRWNN using the gradient-descent method for the adaptive backpropagation algorithm. Through the computer simulations, we demonstrate the feasibility and the effectiveness of our method for the prediction of the logistic map and the Mackey-Glass delay-differential equation as a nonlinear chaotic time series.

The Effect of Compressed Video Traffic over ABR on Satellite ATM Networks (위성 ATM 망에서 압축된 비디오 트래픽의 ABR 서비스에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper we consider the performance of TCP video traffic over ABR with Long-Range Dependent VBR traffic. As compressed coded video traffics are increasing rapidly over Internet, lots of studies are being done for transmitting those traffics efficiently using limited network resources. We consider here the transmitting video service over ABR service in ATM networks, especially satellite networks. CBR or VBR services are suggested in transmitting the video traffic in ATM Forum TM 4.0. But ABR service connection, which is considered as appropriate service for data traffic, can be established with a small amount of bandwidth, MCR (Minimum cell rate). Furthermore ABR service can control the source's transmitting rate using feedback mechanism. Using this feature ABR service can be used in some applications which can control their quality of services corresponding to network loads. Compressed video sources with MPEG-2 are used for Long-Range Dependent VBR traffic here. We model the compressed video source to resemble the MPEG-2 transport streams. These compressed video traffic streams are consisted of three different frames, I-frame, P-frame, and B-frame. So when a network are overloaded, we can control the quality of service using this traffic features. TCP Traffics over ABR need large buffers in ATM switch to satisfy their QoS with background VBR traffics, which have high deviations in bandwidth. Furthermore satellite ATM networks with large feedback delay need large buffers corresponding RTT delay. The performance comparisons among EFCI and ER switch (ERICA+) switches in the network circumstances described above were shown in this paper. We also considered the case with ON-OFF VBR traffics.

  • As the demand on the multimedia application increases, the congestion control algorithm for the multimedia applications becomes an important research issue. The ultimate goal of congestion control is to adapt the trans-mission rate at the sender to the mont of network resource available on the forward path. In general, the congestion control algorithms use the round trip time(RTT) to estimate the network congestion on the forward path. however, since the RTT includes the delay on both forward and backward paths, it is possible for the algorithms using the RTT to make a wrong decision such as deciding the congestion on the forward path due to the congestion built on the backward path. In this paper, we enhance the performance of RRC-OTT(Receiver-based rate control with one-way Trip Time) algorithm, which uses the one-way trip time(OTT) to estimate the network congestion. By separating the estimation mechanism on the forward path from the backward path, the performance of RRC-OTT algorithm is hardly affected by the congestion built on the backward path.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. We have advanced the framework of the multiple time scale congestion control and showed its effectiveness at enhancing performance for the rate-based feedback control. Our contribution is threefold. First, we define a modular extension of the TCP-a function called with a simple interface-that applies to various flavours of the TCP-e.g., Tahoe, Reno, Vegas and show that it significantly improves performance. Second, we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.

  • Measurements of network traffic have shown that self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. We have advance the framework of multiple time scale congestion control and show its effectiveness at enhancing performance for fast TCP prototype control. In this paper, we extend the fast TCP prototype control framework to window-based congestion control, in particular, TCP. This is performed by interfacing TCP with a large time scale control module which adjusts the aggressiveness of bandwidth consumption behavior exhibited by TCP as a function of "large time scale" network state. i.e., conformation that exceeds the horizon of the feedback loop as determined by RTT. Performance evaluation of fast TCP prototype is facilitated by a simulation bench-mark environment which is based on physical modeling of self-similar traffic. We explicate out methodology for discerning and evaluating the impact of changes in transport protocols in the protocol stack under self-similar traffic conditions. We discuss issues arising in comparative performance evaluation under heavy-tailed workload. workload.

  • Real-time application programs have synchronization constraints which need to be met between media-data. Synchronization method represents feedback method including virtual client-side buffer. This buffer is used in buffer level method. It is client-leading synchronization that is absorbing variable transmission delay time and that is synchronizing by feedback control. It is the important factor for playback rate and QoS if the buffer level is normal or not. To solve the problems, we can control the start of transmission in multimedia server by appling filtering, control and network evaluation function. Synchronization method is processing for smooth presentation without cut-off while media is playing out. When audio frame which is master media is in high threshold buffer level we decrease play out time gradually, otherwise we increase it slowly.

  • A neat prefect stable random access protocol for a broadcast channel,the distributed queuing random access protocol(DQRAP)is presented and evaluated.The DQRAP prootcol utilizes minisolts to provide termaty chan-nel feedback and two distributed queues to:9a) resolve contention and (b) to schedute the transmission of messages.Three minislots are sufficient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inboled mecages.Three minislots are suffcient to resolve collisions faster than the tranmission times of all inbolved arrivals when ternary minislot feedback is used.Modelingand simulation indicate that the DQRAP protocol, using as few as three minislits,achives a performance level which approaches that of hypothetical perfect cheduling protocol,ie,the M/D/I system,with respect to propagation delay,thus offers the potential of improved performance over current protocols in satellite,metropolitan and packet radio networks.

  • The major problem at a branch point for point-to-multipoint available bit rate(ABR) services in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks is how to consolidate backward resource management(BRM) cells from each branch for a multicast connection. In this paper, we propose an efficient feedback consolidation algorithm based on an adaptive dynamic threshold(ADT) to eliminate the consolidation noise and the reduce the consolidation delay. The main idea of the ADT algorithm lies in that each branch point estimates the ABR traffic condition of the network through the virtual queue estimation and the transmission threshold of the queue level in branch points is adaptively controlled according to the estimation. Simulation results show that the proposed ADT algorithm can achieve a faster response in congestion status and a higher link utilization compared with the previous works.
