Nowadays automatic transmission equipped vehicles prevail in construction and agricultural equipment due to their convenience in driving and operation. Though domestic vehicle manufacturers install imported electronic controlled transmissions at present, overseas products will be replaced by domestic ones in the near future owing to development efforts over the past 10 years. For passenger cars, there are many kinds of shift control algorithms that enhance the shift quality such as feedback and learning control. However, since shift control technologies for heavy duty vehicles are not highly developed, it is possible to improve the shift quality with an organized control method. A feedback control algorithm for neutral-into-gear shift, which is enabled during the inertia phase for the master clutch slip speed to track the slip speed reference, is proposed based on the power transmission structure of TH100. The performance of the feedback shift control is verified by a vehicle test which is implemented with firmware embedded TCU. As the master clutch engages along the predetermined speed trajectory, it can be concluded that the shift quality can be managed by a shift time control parameter. By extending the proposed feedback algorithm for neutral-into-gear shift to gear change and shuttle shift, it is expected that the quality of the shift can be improved.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of weight shift training with electrical sensory simulation feedback on quiet standing balance in hemiplegic stroke patients. METHODS: 30 stroke patients were equally allocated at random to an experimental group or a control group. Patients in both two groups underwent comprehensive rehabilitation physical therapy for 30 minutes per day for 5 days per week for 4 weeks. Members of the experimental group received additional weight shift training with electrical sensory simulation feedback was conducted for 15 minutes after 30 minute sessions, whereas members of the control group underwent additional leftward/rightward weight shift training by themselves after 30 minutes per day for four weeks. COP (center of pressure) path lengths, COP velocities, and foot forces were measured before and immediately after the 4-week training period in both groups and results were compared. RESULTS: COP path lengths significantly decreased by 3% after training in the experimental group and this was significantly greater than that observed in the control group (p<0.05). In both groups, foot forces of affected sides showed significant increases after intervention, whereas foot forces of unaffected sides showed significant decreases (p<0.05). No significant difference was observed between the two groups with respect to these changes. CONCLUSION: Weight shift training using electrical sensory simulation feedback has a positive effect on quiet standing balance in hemiplegic stroke.

Most of feedback shift controllers developed in the past have fixed control parameters tuned by experts using a trial and error method. Therefore, those controllers cannot satisfy the best control performance under various driving conditions. To improve the shift quality under various driving conditions, a new self-organizing controller(SOC) that has an optimal control performance through self-learning of driving conditions and driver's pattern is designed in this study. The proposed SOC algorithm for the shift controller uses simple descent method and has less calculation time than complex fuzzy relation, thus makes real-time control passible. PCSV (Pressure Control Solenoid Valve) control current is used as a control input, and turbine speed of the torque converter is used indirectly to monitor the transient torque as a feedback signal, which is more convenient to use and economic than the torque signal measured directoly by a torque sensor. The results of computer simulations show that an apparent reduction of shift-transient torque is obtained through the process of each run without initial fuzzy rules and a good control performance in the shift-transient torque is also obtained.
The report presents an approach to constructing or control algorithms for finite dimensional dynamical systems under the deficit of information about dynamical disturbances. The approach is based on the constructions of the extremal shift strategy of the differential game theory.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of visual feedback training-for gradual weight shift in sit-to-stand training-on the balance and walking abilities of chronic hemiplegia patients. Methods: Twenty patients with chronic hemiplegia volunteered to participate in this study. The experimental group received visual feedback for gradual weight shift in the sit-to-stand training, while the contrast group followed the standard process for the sit-to-stand training. The evaluation of the balance and walking ability was conducted with the functional reach test (FRT), Berg balance scale (BBS), five time sit-to-stand (FTSTS) test, timed up and go (TUG) test, 10 m walk test (10MWT), balancia, activities-specific balance confidence (ABC) scale, and falls efficacy scale (FES). Results: In the results before and after intervention, there was a significant difference in TUG, 10MWT, ABC, and FES in the visual feedback training group (p < 0.05). In the control group, there was a significant difference in the 10MWT and ABC (p < 0.05). Also, in the evaluation of the postural fluctuations, the control group data showed a significant increase in Covar. The visual feedback group showed a significant difference in the W average. Conclusion: The visual feedback training group showed some improvement in terms balance and walking ability and on the ABC scale and FES. Therefore, if the diagonal progressive weight bearing exercise is combined with the various patterns and basic principles of PNF, it may be a more efficient intervention method.

This paper describes a new bike system for the postural balance rehabilitation training. Virtual environment and three dimensional graphic model is designed with CAD tools such as 3D Studio Max and World Up. For the real time bike simulation, the optimized WorldToolKit graphic library is embedded with the dynamic geometry generation method, multi-thread method, and portal generation method. In this experiment, 20 normal adults were tested to investigate the influencing factors of balancing posture. We evaluated the system by measuring the parameters such as path deviation, driving velocity, COP(center for pressure), and average weight shift. Also, we investigated the usefulness of visual feedback information by weight shift. The results showed that continuous visual feedback by weight shift was more effective than no visual feedback in the postural balance control It is concluded this system might be applied to clinical use as a new postural balance training system.
A special cause producing temporary deviation in the underlying process can influence on process adjustment in responsive feedback control system. In this paper, the impact of special causes on the EWMA(Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) forecasts and the process adjustment that is based on the EWMA forecasts are derived. For some special causes with patterned type of contamination, the influence of the causes on the output process are explicitly investigated. A data set, contaminated by a special cause of level shift, is analyzed to evaluate the impact numerically.

In the present paper, a speed control algorithm with fast response characteristics is proposed to reduce the shift shock of medium/large-sized electric vehicles equipped with a two-speed AMT. Shift shocks, which are closely related with to the vehicles' ride comfort, occur due to the difference between the speed of the motor shaft and the load shaft when the gear is engaged. The proposed speed control method for shift shock reduction can quickly synchronize speeds occurring due to differences in the gear ratios during speed shifts in AMT systems by speed command feed-forward compensation and a state feedback controller. As a result, efficient shift results without any shift shock can be obtained. The proposed speed control method was applied to a 9 m- long medium- sized electric bus to demonstrate the validity through a simulated analysis and experiments.
In the industrial motor drive system, a shift torsional vibration si often generated when a motor and a load are connected with a flexible shaft. This paper treats the vibration suppression control of such a system. In this paper, the state feedback controller of the two-mass resonant system using the H$\infty$ filter is proposed. The H$\infty$ filter is robust in noise and disturbance. Simulation results show the validity proposed controller.
Process adjustment is a complimentary tool to process monitoring in process control. Process adjustment directs on maintaining a process output close to a target value by manipulating another controllable variable, by which significant process improvement can be achieved. Therefore, this approach can be applied to the 'Improve' stage of Six Sigma strategy. Though the optimal control rule minimizes process variability in general, it may not properly function when special causes occur in underlying process, resulting in off-target bias and increased variability in the adjusted output process, possibly for long periods. In this paper, we consider a responsive feedback control system and the minimum mean square error control rule. The bias in the adjusted output process is investigated in a general framework, especially focussing on stationary underlying process and the special cause of level shift type. Illustrative examples are employed to illustrate the issues discussed.
