  • In-band wireless full-duplex is a promising technology that enables a wireless node to transmit and receive at the same time on the same frequency band. Due to the complexity of self-interference cancellation techniques, only base stations (BSs) are expected to be full-duplex capable while user terminals remain as legacy half-duplex nodes in the near future. In this case, two different nodes share a single subchannel, one for uplink and the other for downlink, which causes inter-node interference between them. In this paper, we investigate the joint problem of subchannel assignment and power allocation in a single-cell full-duplex orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network considering the inter-node interference. Specifically, we consider two different scenarios: i) The BS knows full channel state information (CSI), and ii) the BS obtains limited CSI through channel feedbacks from nodes. In the full CSI scenario, we design sequential resource allocation algorithms which assign subchannels first to uplink nodes and then to downlink nodes or vice versa. In the limited CSI scenario, we identify the overhead for channel measurement and feedback in full-duplex networks. Then we propose a novel resource allocation scheme where downlink nodes estimate inter-node interference with low complexity. Through simulation, we evaluate our approaches for full and limited CSIs under various scenarios and identify full-duplex gains in various practical scenarios.

  • Since a conventional multi-cell transmit diversity scheme depends on the feedback from the user for the channel gain information, its performance gets to severely degrade when the channel varies fast due to the high mobility of the user. Also, transmit power of the base station cannot be fully used in the conventional scheme because only one transmit antenna is used for data transmission. In this paper, we propose a multi-cell transmit diversity scheme appropriate for fast fading channel. In the proposed scheme, channel-independent precoding vector is applied over all transmit antennas and different precoding vectors are applied for neighboring subcarriers so that the received signal is avoided to experience deep fading over multiple neighboring subcarriers. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better detector output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate (BER) performances than the conventional scheme.

  • Utilizing artificial noise (AN) is a good means to guarantee security against eavesdropping in a multi-inputmulti-output system, where the AN is designed to lie in the null space of the legitimate receiver's channel direction information (CDI). However, imperfect CDI will lead to noise leakage at the legitimate receiver and cause significant loss in the achievable secrecy rate. In this paper, we consider a delayed feedback system, and investigate the impact of delayed CDI on security by using a transmit beamforming and AN scheme. By exploiting the Gauss-Markov fading spectrum to model the feedback delay, we derive a closed-form expression of the upper bound on the secrecy rate loss, where $N_t$ = 2. For a moderate number of antennas where $N_t$ > 2, two special cases, based on the first-order statistics of the noise leakage and large number theory, are explored to approximate the respective upper bounds. In addition, to maintain a constant signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio degradation, we analyze the corresponding delay constraint. Furthermore, based on the obtained closed-form expression of the lower bound on the achievable secrecy rate, we investigate an optimal power allocation strategy between the information signal and the AN. The analytical and numerical results obtained based on first-order statistics can be regarded as a good approximation of the capacity that can be achieved at the legitimate receiver with a certain number of antennas, $N_t$. In addition, for a given delay, we show that optimal power allocation is not sensitive to the number of antennas in a high signal-to-noise ratio regime. The simulation results further indicate that the achievable secrecy rate with optimal power allocation can be improved significantly as compared to that with fixed power allocation. In addition, as the delay increases, the ratio of power allocated to the AN should be decreased to reduce the secrecy rate degradation.

  • In this paper, a tunable fiber feedback laser based on the use of Sagnac loop filter and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed. The Sagnac loop filter using a high birefringence fiber provides precise 0.33-nm channel spacing as a multi-wavelength grid filter. Ni-Cr wire wound on the FBG is useful to induce the thermo-optic effect of the fiber. Two types of FBG structures, which have a different length of wire, are demonstrated to show the wavelength shift and separation. To tune FBG by resistant heat, some current is supplied into the wire. When the wavelength matched with one of the cavity modes of Sagnac loop filter, the mode-locked lasing is occurred. The electrical power sensitivity of the resonant wavelength is measured to 1.75pm/mW. This laser configuration can be applied the electrical power system for monitoring the power fluctuation.

  • Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI), the conventional interference alignment (IA) algorithm in the uplink cellular system suppresses inter-cell interference (ICI) by aligning ICI to a randomly selected reference vector. However, IA in practice relies on limited feedback between base stations and users, resulting in residual ICI. In this paper, we propose the optimization of the reference vector that minimizes the upper-bound of residual ICI power. Secondly, the iterative IA that designs the direction of transmit and receive filter is proposed to minimize the residual ICI as well as maximize the desired signals. Moreover, we propose the user scheduling method combined with proposed IA schemes which provides the multiuser diversity gain in multi-cell environments. Finally, the performance gain of the proposed IA algorithms compared with the existing IA are analyzed and demonstrated by simulation results.

  • Array beamforming for anti-jamming means that jamming signals are superposed destructively, while superposing information signals constructively at a receiver. However, according to channel state variation, the anti-jamming performance of the beamforming can be degraded because of large beamwidth of the sidelobe and lower selectivity of the mainlobe. To mitigate this problem, we introduce a beamformed decoy signal which uses frequency band distinguished from the information signal to make the jammer concentrate its jamming power to a wrong target under limited feedback. In this paper, we show that the performance of the proposed scheme can approach that of optimal one with perfect feedback.

  • A dynamic range extension technique is proposed based on a 3-transistor active pixel sensor (APS) with gate/body-tied p-channel metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (PMOSFET)-type photodetector using a feedback structure. The new APS consists of a pseudo 3-transistor APS and an additional gate/body-tied PMOSFET-type photodetector, and to extend the dynamic range, an NMOSFET switch is proposed. An additional detector and an NMOSFET switch are integrated into the APS to provide negative feedback. The proposed APS and pseudo 3-transistor APS were designed and fabricated using a $0.35-{\mu}m$ 2-poly 4-metal standard complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. Afterwards, their optical responses were measured and characterized. Although the proposed pixel size increased in comparison with the pseudo 3-transistor APS, the proposed pixel had a significantly extended dynamic range of 98 dB compared to a pseudo 3-transistor APS, which had a dynamic range of 28 dB. We present a proposed pixel that can be switched between two operating modes depending on the transfer gate voltage. The proposed pixel can be switched between two operating modes depending on the transfer gate voltage: normal mode and WDR mode. We also present an imaging system using the proposed APS.

  • Since the H.264 encoding adopts both forward prediction and hi-direction prediction modes and exploits Variable Length Coding(VLC), the amount of data generated from video encoder varies as Flaying time goes by. The fixed bit rate encoding system which has limited transmission channel capacity uses a buffer to control output bitstream It's necessary to control the bitstream to maintain within manageable range so as to protect buffer from overflow or underflow. With existing bit amount control algorithms, the $\lambda_{MODE}$ which is relationship between distortion value and quantization parameter often excesses normal value to end up with video error. This paper proposes an algorithm to protect buffer from overflow or underflow by introducing a new quantization parameter against distortion value of H.264 video data. The test results of 6 exemplary data show that the proposed algorithm has the same PSNR as and up to 8% reduced bit rate against existing algorithms.

  • An optimal operation model for flood control of multi-reservoirs, Hwacheon and Soyanggang, located in the north Han River basin is developed by using the Incremental DP. The objective function is to minimize the peak flow at the confluence point, of Euam dam, and the hydraulic and hydrologic constraints are established by considering the related laws as to the operation of dam in flood season, each reservoir and channel characteristics. In particular, the final elevations of each reservoir are induced to the conservation pool level in order to prepare for the secondary flood. In addition, the results of this model, simulation results and the single reservoir operation by DP are compared in terms of control and utility efficiencies, and also the peak flows at the confluence point for floods with various return periods are compared with the results of simulation suing feedback control. as the results, the control and utility effciencies are more or less low in contrast with the results of simulation and the single reservoir operation by DP, and the peak flows at confluence point are high because of terminal condition of reservoir storage.

  • Frequency reuse in a cellular wireless communication environment gives rise to a phenomenon of cochannel interference. This paper introduces a power control strategy for OFDM based communication systems operating in such an environment. Among the existing power control schemes, IWF(iterative waterfilling) is known to exhibit relatively good performance. However, it requires feedback of power level and bit allocation information for each subcarrier from a receiver to its associated transmitter, which can lead to a considerable overhead, especially for the case of employing large number of subcarriers. Motivated by this, we present a simplified power control scheme with reduced overhead feedback, which allocates some nonzero identical power to the subcarriers of which channel conditions are above a certain threshold and zero power to the other ones. Computer simulations show that the proposed strategy produces a good approximation to the performance of the IWF in terms of the transmission power level while it requires less overhead feedback.
