Objective: The objective of the present experiment was to construct self-draining beds to keep surface bedding materials clean and dry for beef cattle comfort in a temperate climate. Methods: In Experiment 1, a self-draining bed was covered with sand at depths of 10 cm (S-10a), 15 cm (S-15), and 20 cm (S-20) respectively. In Experiment 2, self-draining beds of different sizes were covered with 10 cm of sand (S-10b) and wood shavings (WS) at depths of 15 cm and 20 cm (WS-15 and WS-20). Fifteen cattle were engaged to evaluate the comfort of self-draining beds covered with different bedding materials. Results: No cattle lay in the feed alley and cattle spent more time lying on S-10a than S-15 or S-20 in Experiment 1 (p<0.01). No difference in lying time was detected between S-15 and S-20 (p>0.05). In Experiment 2, no cattle selected the feed alley as the lying area. Cattle preferred WS-15 as the lying area and time spent lying on WS-20 was slightly higher than on S-10b (p<0.05). Feces weight was higher in the feed alley than in the different bedding areas in both Experiments 1 and 2 (p<0.01). Conclusion: Sand-bedding depth at 10 cm and WSs at 15 cm above the self-draining bed can provide for the lying comfort of beef cattle. Design of a special feed alley to hold most of the feces to keep bedding materials clean and dry is desirable for organic beef cattle in a loose barn.
In this study, we suggest conditions to reduce fouling in capacitive deionization (CDI) caused by alginic acid sodium salt, one of the most common fouling-causing substances in natural water and wastewater management. First, NaCl is used as feed material, which is selected as the control of the experiment. As expected, fouling phenomena is not observed from NaCl. On the other hand, when alginic acid sodium salt is added to the inlet, the fouling phenomena can be observed. In order to minimize the fouling phenomena, the feed concentration of alginic acid sodium salt, applied potential during desorption process, and duration of applied potential to our CDI cell are controlled. With 7 mg/L of feed stream concentration, CDI performed using 1.2 V for 1 min during adsorption followed by desorption with -2 V for 1 min exhibited the highest alginic acid salt removal efficiency reaching 50.07%.
Spent mushroom substrates is composted organic material remaining after a crop of mushroom is harvested. The raw materials of mushroom substrates are same feed ingredient as corncobs, rice brown, wheat brown, cotton seeds and beet pulp. During the mushroom cultivation process, the mushroom substrates was used 15-25% by mushroom and 75-85% of mushroom substrates was remained in the SMS. Among of the spent mushroom substrates, spent mushroom substrates of pleurotus eryngii, Pleurotus ostreatus and Flammuliua velutipes is can be use the energy feedstock of animal feed. The cellulose content of spent mushroom(pleurotus eryngii) substrates containing the sawdust was high and total digestible nutrients (TDN) values was low. The spent mushroom(pleurotus eryngii) substrates fermented with cellulase and xylanase producing bacteria is may be used as an ingredient of feed in TMR for Hanwoo steer.

Small-scale production is increasing, and the manufacturing industry is gradually changing into a smart manufacturing industry. Therefore, research on securing optimal cutting conditions for factors affecting machining precision during cutting is very important. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to After machining the inner diameter hole of SCM415 steel with a cermet tool on a CNC automatic lathe, the surface roughness, dimensional accuracy, and dimensional straightness are measured according to the feed rate to analyze the machining characteristics and suggest optimal cutting conditions. The test material was cut using a cermet tool for secondary cutting after a round bar with a diameter of 20 mm was mounted on a CNC automatic lathe. The cutting length was fixed at 0.5 mm, and the cutting speed was fixed at 3200 rpm. When the feed rate was changed to 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mm/rev, the respective surface roughness during the 15th test was measured. Consequently, The lower the feed rate, the better is the surface roughness. In addition, the optimum cutting conditions for SCM415 steel were observed to be the most ideal cutting conditions than the condition of 0.05 mm/rev at a cutting speed of 3,200 rpm and a feed rate of 0.1 mm/rev.

This study was conducted to better understand the impact of marine fish farming by estimating mass balances of carbon and nitrogen. According to the results, 94.55% of carbon and 95.66% of nitrogen inputs were from the feed supplied in the farm. Of the total carbon emissions in the farm, 47.28% was due to fish respiration, which was subsequently released into seawater. Advection and diffusion in the farm contributed to 30.29% of the carbon released. In the case of nitrogen, 50.70% of the nitrogen released into the seawater was produced by fish excreta, and 31.37% was advected and diffused into the system. The sedimentary environment received 3.82% and 3.10% of the carbon and nitrogen released from the farm, respectively. The fish feed used for healthy growth contained 11.64% carbon and 9.17% nitrogen. Since the feed type was floating pellets, the load released into the sedimentary environment was relatively lower than that released into the marine environment. These findings suggest that the identification of an optimal fish feed that respects fish physiology and preserves a healthy ecology is critical for the future of aquaculture. Furthermore, ecosystem-based aquaculture systems that decrease environmental burden, while endeavoring to improve environmental health, are required.

To investigate removal efficiency of dissolved matter by NF and RO, a pilot plant was operated for six months using groundwater treated by UF membrane. After the pilot plant operation, we performed autopsy test to identify characteristics of foulant attached on the membrane surface applying the used NF and RO in the pilot plant test. In autopsy test, we measured permeate flux and recovery rate of flux by chemical cleaning in each membrane. We also analyzed chemical cleaning disposal to examine component of foulant. Permeate flux of NF and RO1 showed rapid decline after 100 days of operation. Especially, reduction of specific flux in RO1 was more serious than in NF. Specific flux of RO2 with a low recovery rate resulted in gradual flux decline. Removal efficiencies of dissolved inorganic matters as a conductivity were 76.3%, 88.2% and 95.3% respectively for NF, RO1 and RO2, and RO2 presented the highest removal efficiency. And those of dissolved organic matters as TOC were about 80% for both NF and RO. The specific flux of membranes declined gradually from the feed water inlet to outlet of the membrane module and it showed that membrane fouling increased along the feed flow direction. Namely, concentration of pollutants became higher and volume of feed water was less as the feed flow approached to the outlet. It seemed that major foul ants were Ca consolidated into inorganic material and Si consolidated into organic material on the membrane surface. Fe was a great contribution to irreversible fouling. The SEM results indicated that the organic matter was attached to the first layer, closer to the membrane, and then inorganic matter with tetragonal shape layered over them. We could not observe biofouling because microorganism, which was cause of biofouling, was almost pretreated in UF membrane.

Monitoring fish movement is important to understand how physiology adapts to environmental change. To explore the applicability of a video tracking system for determining if chemical cues attract or repel aquatic animals, the movement patterns of rock bream, Oplegnathus fasciatus, were analyzed upon exposure to various materials, including extracts of sea urchin, rock worm, bait worm, krill, barley kernel, and commercial fish feed. Pellets were prepared by mixing freeze-dried tissues with a cellulose and corn flour mixture. Behavioral analysis was carried out with five fish that had been acclimated in the adaptation zone of a Y-shaped tank. Preference toward chemical cues was quantified by assessing the frequency rock bream were observed in a discrete zone around the test material located at the end of each arm and the duration each fish stayed in each zone. The analysis of fish movement upon exposure to commercial feed and barley kernel at each end, respectively, indicated a clear preference toward the feed relative to the barley kernel. Movement responses were further tested with pellets containing extracts of sea urchin, one of the species collected on a large scale, and other materials including krill and worms. A stronger preference toward sea urchin (100%) was observed based on the duration of stay in the test zone, compared to krill (90.1 ± 44.2%), bait worm (81.1 ± 39.1%), rock worm (73.7 ± 28.9%), and barley (63.9 ± 25.9%), under the conditions tested. A detailed comparison of rock bream movements toward each material revealed significant differences in frequency and duration, respectively, between pairs of test materials including krill (74 ± 29.8 and 375.6 ± 118.9) vs. rock worm (41.5 ± 18.7 and 160.2 ± 42.6), krill (86.3 ± 22.9 and 477.1 ± 84) vs. bait worm (36.2 ± 5.5 and 166.1 ± 50.7), and rock worm (45.9 ± 26.2 and 213.7 ± 100.1) vs. bait worm (34.6 ± 21.7 and 159.5 ± 98.5). Rock bream exhibited preference for the test materials in the following order: commercial fish feed > sea urchin > krill > rock worm > bait worm > barley. The results suggest a higher potency of sea urchin extract as a rock bream fishing bait compared to the other materials that are used as commercial bait.
Four different silages were prepared out of citrus peel with or without supplementation with wheat bran and/or urea. Proximate nutrients and volatile fatty acids were analysed on the silages, both fresh and dried. All silages were dried and ground, and were compared with dried citrus peel (not ensiled) and wheat bran in a folding trial. A total of 360 male chicks of Maniker broiler strain was divided into and assigned to 6 treatments with 5 replications. Each experimental diet included each of 6 test material at the level of 6% and the feeding trial lasted 8 weeks, after which a metabolism trial was conducted. Results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Ensiling increased protein content of the citrus peel on the dry matter basis and supplementing the silage material with wheat bran and/or urea further increased protein contents of the silages. 2. Adding wheat bran and/or urea to silage material also increased volatile fatty acid contents of the silages. After drying organic acid contents of the silages were reduced and there were no differences in organic acid contents of the dried citrus peel silages, differently treated, 3, Broilers fed dried citrus peel and those fed dried citrus peel silages gained numerically less weight than those fed wheat bran. But there were no significant differences in body weight gain, feed intake and feed efficiency among different treatments 4. There were no significant differences in nutrient utilizability, nitrogen retention and metabnlizable energy contents among treatments. It could be concluded that ensiling is an effective way of storing citrus peel and dried citrus peel silage could be used in broiler diets up to 6% without adverse effects.

One of the parameters that influence the productivity of every industry, involved in metal cutting, is the chip from ; continuous or broken chip. Chip form varies according to machining conditions, material used, tool geometry and chip breaker geometry. Therefore, in this study we carried out the experiment on the chip control in machining STS304 using an attached obstruction type chip breaker. Namely, with the change of a chip breaker distance, chip breaker angle, cutting characteristics in machining STS304 which is well-known as a machining difficult material and produces a saw-toothed chip. The results of the experiment are as follows : 1. The chip breaker distance and angle under which the preferred chip is produced, show 1.5mm and 60 .deg. , while chip breaker angle in machining an ordinary steel was well-known 45 .deg. . 2. During the cutting process, the change of feed than the change of velocity was applied as cutting conditions, effects more clearly on the chip breaking. 3. Considering a whole surface roughness, it is not advisable to apply chip breaker mentioned above for precision cutting.
