  • Ball screw feed drive systems have been broadly used in machine tools or precision automatic feed systems. Recently, modern machine tools require high speed and high precision and drive system to achieve high productivity. Unfortunately, a feed drive system, even though it was optimum designed, may experience severe transient vibrations during high-speed operation if its feed rate control is unsuitable. A rough feed rate curve having discontinuity in its acceleration profile causes a serious vibration problem in the feed slide system. This paper presents a feed rate optimization of a machine tool feed slide system, which is driven by a ball screw, for its minimum vibrations. Firstly, a 6-degree-of-freedom lumped parameter model was proposed for the vibration analysis of a ball screw driven machine tool feed drive system. Next, a feed rate optimization of the feed slide was carried out for minimum vibrations. The feed rate curve optimization strategy is to find out the most appropriate acceleration profile having finite jerk. Of course, the optimized feed rate should approximate to the desired one as possible. A genetic algorithm with variable penalty function was used in this feed rate optimization.

  • Experiments were conducted to determine the efficacy of modified montmorillonite nanocomposite (MMN) to reduce the toxic effects of aflatoxin (AF) in growing/finishing pigs. 96 weaned pigs were assigned to four dietary treatment groups (0 g of MMN and 0 mg of AF/kg feed, 3 g of MMN/kg feed, 0.1 mg of AF/kg feed, and 3 g of MMN plus 0.1 mg of AF/kg feed). Body weight gain (BW gain), feed/gain ratio, serum biochemical values and enzyme activities were evaluated. Compared with the control, AF alone markedly reduced BW gain and resulted in a significantly higher feed/gain ratio. There were no differences in BW gain and feed/gain ratio between 0.3% MMN or 0.3% MMN plus AF and the control. These results suggested that the deleterious effects of AF were ameliorated by MMN addition. AF intake markedly increased relative organ weights of liver, kidney, spleen and pancreas, and resulted in significant alterations of serum parameters. However, these parameters for pigs fed diets containing MMN and AF returned to normal values, indicating that MMN had the ability to recover the AF-decreased performance, organ damage and to correct aberrations in serum parameters. These findings in our study suggested that MMN can effectively modulate the toxicity of AF in growing/finishing pigs and may offer a novel approach to the preventive management of aflatoxicosis in animals.

  • Nowadays in power plant feed water control, it is very important to retain the stable drum level though power changes very fast. For the stable drum level in power plant, we have to model our plants and get the system functions. We make the L.Q. controller by using these functions and apply it to these systems. And we get the more stable drum level which is controlled by feed water qualities.

  • In this study, to determine the optimum fermentation process for the feed production of food wastes and estimate the practical value of fermented feed using kudzu creeper and sawdust as bulking agent. This study considered initial C/N ratio control as the fermentation process variables. The result are summarized as follows. Minimum water contents of byproducts in the fermentation feed production showed 39%(kudzu), 37%(sawdust) at the C/N ratio 25 and 45%(kudzu, sawdust) at the C/N ratio 35. Temperature variations in the fermentation feed production at the C/N ratio 25 indicated $68^{\circ}C$(kudzu), $70^{\circ}C$(sawdust). Optimum condition of fermentation process of water content, C/N ratio and permeability (porous structure of the mixture). For optimum fermentation gravitationally dewatered garbage, the proper mixing ratios of kudzu(moisture contents : 17.3%) and sawdust(moisture contents : 13.2%) were 41% and 39%, respectively. Major biological reaction in the aerobic fermentation feed production occurred during 12~24hrs.

  • From linear motor feed system model, two axis control rules have been applied. As an application process, a flexible disk grinding system process has been also introduced that utilized varying disk orientation with respect to workpiece along with the applied feed speed. A known process model methodologies has been used to fomulate processed surface profiles. Various process conditions including cutting speed, maximum feed speed and orientation angles could applied to observe process results sensitivities. Even though continuous and constant feed speed has been applied to the process, the results from the trapezoidal input velocity profiles would be observed and compared.

  • This study was intended to develop the automatic feeding depth control system of the head-feed combine which could feed the rice head into threshing unit at the optimal depth regardless of plant height and uneven ground surface. In the control system, one-board microcomputer was used for the controller instead of conventional electric circuits. Field test of the combine equipped with the control system was conducted to evaluate its overall performance. It was also investigated how the location and time delay of rice head sensor affect the system performance.

  • This paper is concerned with speed tracking control problem for permanent-magnet synchronous drives (PMSM) in the presence of an variable load torque and unknown model parameters. The disturbance of speed control caused by inaccuracy of model parameters has been investigated. A load torque observer has been proposed to observe the load torque and estimate the disturbance caused by inaccuracy of model parameters. Both inertia and friction coefficient are identified in gradient descent approach. The stability condition of the observer has also been studied. Furthermore an improved feed-forward control has been introduced to reduce the speed track error. The proposed control strategy has been verified by both simulation and experimental results.

  • Two major obstacles in the utilization of electrical vehicles are their price and range. The collaboration of direct torque control (DTC) with induction motor (IM) is preferred for its low cost, easy implementation, and parameter independency. However, in terms of edges, the method has drawbacks, such as variable switching frequency and undesired current harmonic distortion. These drawbacks result in acoustic noise, reduced efficiency, and electromagnetic interference. A feed-forward approach for stator-flux-oriented DTC with space vector pulse-width modulation is presented in in this paper. The outcome of the proposed method is low current harmonic distortion with fixed switching frequency while preserving the torque performance and simple application feature of basic DTC. The method is applicable to existing and forthcoming IM drive systems via software adaptation. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by simulation and experimental results.

  • This experiment was conducted for the development of oriental feed additives in broiler chicks. It conducted experiment to investigate the effect of $1\%$ dietary supplementation of oriental feed additives containing oriental herbal medicines such as Saururus Chnensis B.(S. chnensis) and Carthamus Tinctorius L.(C. tinctorius) on growth performance, and physicochemical properties in broiler chicks. The results of this study demonstrated that chicks feed $1\%$ oriental feed additives decreased feed gain, and death rates compared with control treatment. Weight gain and meat color were higher in the $1\%$ supplement group than control. The supplementation of $1\%$ oriental feed additives increased unsaturated fatty acid, and reduced crude fat in the broiler chicks compared with those of control. In conclusion, this study implied that oriental feed additives containing oriental herbal medicines such as S. Chnensis and C. Tinctorius were effective in improving broiler chicks on growth performance, physical-chemical properties and is highly recommended for increasing economic returns.

  • This study was carried out to improve water thestability of extruded shrimp feed. Three types of extruded shrimp feeds which were control diet (no steaming, no wheat gluten), steaming treated diet and steaming treated diet containing wheat gluten were prepared to using the pilot scale extruder. Comparing with the water stability values of two types of extruded shrimp feed, Steamed shrimp feed containing 4% (w/w) wheat gluten showed on I after 48 h was better than the control diet (no steaming, no wheat gluten) of which water stability value was 4. Also Penaeus chinensis fed on the steamed feed showed good body weight gain (237%) and feed efficiency (16.7%) compared with body weight gain (151%) and feed efficiency (12.8%) of control diet in the feeding trial for 50 days. Briefly, the extruded shrimp feed has more efficient water stability on below I, and recommendable wheat gluten content and steaming time were 4∼8% (w/w) and 5∼10 minutes.
