A feeding trial was conducted for 60 days to study the utilization of fruits processing wastes as feed ingredient in the diet of Labeo rohita fingerlings. One hundred and sixty fingerlings (av. body weight, $1.65g{\pm}0.03$) were equally distributed in four experimental groups having 4 replicates each. Four different experimental diets were prepared by replacing wheat flour and rice bran with either orange (T2) (Cirtus qurantium), pineapple (T3) (Ananas spp. and Pseudananas spp.) or sweet lime (T4) (Citrus sinensis) wastes to the basal diet along with the control (T1, without any fruit wastes) keeping the CP level at around 40%. The water quality parameters like DO, $CO_2$, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, ammonia and water temperature were recorded within the optimum range. The diet containing 25% pineapple wastes (T3) showed significantly higher growth in terms of SGR (1.50), FCR (2.09) and PER (1.19) than the other groups. However, growth of T4 and T2 groups were not significantly different than the control group (T1). Protease activity (17.17 unit/mg protein), protein digestibility (91.57%) and carbohydrate digestibility (41.62%) were not significantly different among the different groups. Survival of the fingerlings were not significantly different among the experimental groups. It concludes that waste of orange, pineapple and sweet lime can be used at 25% level as a substitute of wheat flour and rice bran in the diet of Labeo rohita.

LFG (Land-Fill Gas) includes components of $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, and water. The preparation of synthesis gas from LFG as a DME (Dimethyl Ether) feedstock was studied by methane reforming of $CO_2$, $O_2$ and steam over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Our experiments were performed to investigate the effects of methane conversion and syngas ratio on the amount of LFG components over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Results were obtained through the activity reaction experiments at the temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and GHSV of 4,000. The results were as following; it has generally shown that methane conversion rate increased with the increase of oxygen and carbon dioxide amounts. Highly methane conversion of 92~93% and syngas ratio of approximately 1.0 were obtained in the feed of gas composition flow-rate of 243ml/min of $CH_4$, 241ml/min of $CO_2$, 195ml/min of $O_2$, 48ml/min of $N_2$, and 360ml/min of water, respectively, under reactor pressure of 15 bar for 50 hrs of reaction time. Also, it was shown that catalyst deactivation by coke formation was reduced by excessively adding oxygen and steam as an oxidizer of the methane reforming.
This study is carried out in order to develop food materials for the promotion of rice consumption. In this study, we researched the physicochemical properties of extruded rice flour (ER) and gelatinization popped rice flour (GPR) by the extrusion process and by the popped method with milled rice and brown rice. The extrusion process used a couple of screw extruders. The extrusion parameter was kept constant at a feed moisture content of 25%, barrel temperature of $120^{\circ}C$ and screw speed of 400 rpm. GPR was prepared by batch popping machine after gelatinization of rice. In order to evaluate the physicochemical properties of ER and GPR, as well as the gelatinization rate, water soluble index (WSI), water adsorption index (WAI), DPPH radical scavenging activity and total dietary fiber content, the color value was carried out. The gelatinization rate was similar to 71.1~73.8%. Further, the results of WSI and WAI were increased at ER and GPR compared to the raw materials; ER was also higher than GPR. DPPH radical scavenging activity and total dietary fiber content showed a tendency to reduce after extrution and popping. As a result of the color value, the L value of ER decreased more than the raw materials, whereas GPR increased at a and b values.

The objective of this study was to investigate the growth rate and the optimal stocking density of sea cucumbers. Grow-out was studied in situ by conducting a follow-up survey using visible implant elastomer (VIE) tags. The rearing systems were made of polypropylene pipe for the frames and netting. The experiment ran for 70 days near Yeosu, Korea in the water depth of about 7 m. A total of 576 sea cucumbers which have three groups of body sizes (small: 5.15, medium: 12.34 and large: 23.26 g) were used. The five groups of stocking densities (150, 300, 450, 600 and $850g/m^2$) in rearing system for sea cucumber were considered. Sea cucumbers were fed a mixed diet (mud, mineral, fish meal, etc.). The feed was supplied to 10% of their body wet weight once every 7 days. The survival rate (73%) of sea cucumber in $850g/m^2$ was lower than those of other density groups ($150g/m^2$: 89%, $300g/m^2$: 84%, $450g/m^2$: 78% and $600g/m^2$: 86%). The survival rate of medium size group was higher than those of small and large groups regardless of the density (P<0.05). Most of density groups have no significant difference except for $850g/m^2$ (P>0.05). The growth rate of small size group ($0.63%day^{-1}$) was higher than those of medium ($0.38%day^{-1}$) and large ($0.34%day^{-1}$) group regardless of the density (P<0.05). The threshold water temperature was $11.0^{\circ}C$ for sea cucumber growth in winter season.

Digestibility trial was performed with carps weighing 200 g/fish. Fecal collection was made over 7 days using a settling column. The water temperature was in the range of 27 to $30{^{\circ}C}$ during whole experimental period. Fishes were fed 5 diets (Control, $F_{24}S_{13}$, $F_{16}S_{27}$, $F_8S_{40}$ and $F_0S_{56}$) containing both 32%, 24%, 16%, 8% and 0% of fish meal (F) and 0%, 13%, 27%, 40% and 56% of roasted full-fat soybean (S), respectively. Water volume in each recirculated rearing tank was maintained at 130 l with flow rate of 10-12 l/min. Apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter, protein, lipid, total carbohydrates and energy in diets showed a reduction (p < 0.05) with the increase of dietary full-fat soybean level, although there was no difference in the ADCs between Control and $F_{24}S_{13}$ (p > 0.05). The ADCs of ash, Ca and P in diets significantly increased with the increase of dietary full-fat soybean level, suggesting the high availability of phosphorus in monocalcium phosphate.
This study was carried out to examine substrate removal characteristics with the variation of the hydraulic retention time in an anaerobic filter. The feed concentration of synthetic wastewater used in the experiment was $10,000mg/l$ glucose. As media, the porosity of volcanic stones in Jeju island were 76%. The conditions of the experiment were as follows; HRT ranging from 1 day to 3 day, loading rates ranging from 3.33kg $COD_{er}/void\;m^3.day$ to 10kg $COD_{er}/void\;m^3.day$ and a temperature $35^{\circ}C$. Based on the results of the experiments, the COD removal efficiency was 98~99% in $COD_{er}$ method with loading rates ranging from 3.33kgCOD/void $m^3.day$ to 10kg COD/void $m^3.day$ and HRT ranging from 1day to 3 day. The produced quantity of gas equivalant to a porosity volume was $1.332~3.756Nm^3/void\;m^3.day$. The relationship between $COD_{er}$ loading rates and gas produced quantity equivalant to a porosity volume was well fitted with the equation of $Nm^3/void\;m^3.day{\cdot}=0.359L_0+0.179$($L_0=COD$ loading rate). Judging from the removal efficiency in this experiment, We concluded that anaerobic filter using Volcanic stones is one of improved and effective. As media, practical value of volcanic stones is sufficient.
In this study, we used prepared a cylindrical module consisting 100 hollow fibers of commercialized (hydrophobic) polyethylene membrane of $0.4{\mu}m$ pore size and systematically studied performance of direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) and sweep gas membrane distillation (SGMD) in terms of variation of permeate flux and salt rejection with respect to temperature drop across the membrane, salt concentrations in feed, and flow rates of cooling water and sweep gas. SGMD was regarded as DCMD with a sweep gas layer between permeate-side membrane surface and cooling water. Sweep gas flow decreases the permeate flux from that of DCMD by providing an additional gas-layer resistance. We compared DCMD and SGMD performance by using mass balance with a fitting parameter (${\omega}$), indicating fraction of permeate flow rate.
Present study was conducted to evaluate the performance of Anaerobic Hybrid Reactor (AHR) combined with two types of anaerobic attached growth reactors at mesophilic temperature ($37^{\circ}C$). The reactor was operated at the influent substrate condition of 19,400 mg/L soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD). The organic loading rate (OLR) and flow rate were varied in the range of $9.5{\sim}22.5kg/m^3$. day and 10.6 ~ 26.0 L/day respectively since start-up was done. The COD removal efficiency of 93 % was measured at the OLR of $14kg/m^3$. day in AHR. However a reduction in removal efficiency to as low as 85 % could have been related to a combined effect of high concentration suspended solids (SS) concentration over 3,800 mg/L. On the other hand the total COD removal efficiencies were measured to be 96.3 % and 96.2 % for AHR+APF and AHR+ADF respectively. The pH of the POME was adjusted to neutral range by using sodium bicarbonate at the initial stages of the reactor feed, later stages pH adjustment was not required as the pH was maintained in the desired neutral range due to self-buffering capacity of the reactor. The reactor proved to be economically acceptable and operationally stable. The biogas was measured to have $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ with a ratio of 35:65, and methane gas production rate was estimated to be $0.17{\sim}10.269L\;CH_4/g\;COD_{removed}$.

The decomposition of gaseous $CH_3CHO$ was investigated by metal loaded $TiO_2$ (pure $TiO_2,\;Pt/TiO_2,\;Pd/TiO_2,\;Mn/TiO_2\;and\;Ag/TiO_2$) with $UV/TiO_2$ process and $UV/TiO_2/O_3$ process at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Metal loaded $TiO_2$ was prepared by photodeposition. Decomposition of $CH_3CHO$ was carried out in a flow-type photochemical reaction system using three 10W black light lamps ($300{\sim}400nm$) as a light source. The experimental results showed that the degradation rate of $CH_3CHO$ was increased with Pt and Ag on $TiO_2$ compared to pure $TiO_2$, but decreased with depositing Pd and Mn on pure $TiO_2$. The considerable increase in the degradation efficiency of the $CH_3CHO$ was found by a combination of photocatalysis and ozonation as compared to only by ozonation or photocatalysis. Loading of Pt on $TiO_2$ promoted conversion of gaseous ozone. The degradation rate of gaseous $CH_3CHO$ decreased with an increase of water vapor in the feed stream for the both $UV/TiO_2\;and\;UV/TiO_2/O_3$ processes. The pure $TiO_2$ was more affected by the water vapor than Pt loaded $TiO_2$.

Barium cerate ($BaCeO_3$) related perovskite ceramics currently dominate the high-temperature proton conductor field. Unfortunately, these materials have very stringent environmental limitations necessitating the costly and complex conditioning or cleaning of the application feed-gas. Commercial realization has been hampered, in part, because of the reactivity of $BaCeO_3$ with $CO_2$, and to some extent $H_2O$. And sintered $BaCeO_3$ decomposed at a rate comparable to the powder samples. In this article, the chemical stability and the structural changes of $BaCe_{0.9-X}Y0.1La_XO_{3-\delta}$ (X=0, 0.1, 0.2) have been systematically investigated in the atmosphere containing carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and water vapor ($H_2O$). The sintering characteristics were studied in $1600^{\circ}C$, sintered pellets disintegrate and decompose upon contacting boiling water on the surface only.
