Exact Contour Extraction of Buildings in Aerial Image (항공 영상에서의 평평한 사각형 건물의 정확한 경계 추출)

  • To get a good result of the feature-based stereo matching, contour of buildings must be extracted exactly. In this paper, an algorithm that extracts contour of flat top buildings exactly is proposed. The Algorithm is composed of three steps. One is to find corner points of 4 types in whole image and another is to extract exact lines between coners by edge following technique, the third is to extract exact contour of buildings using binding structures. We have a good result in extracting contour of buildings.

  • This paper describes a study on implementation of image processing systems for the defect inspection of polyethylene. In order to detect the edge, the Robert filter is used. And we use to the labeling algorithm for feature extraction. Labeling the conected regions of a image is a fundamental computation in image analysis and machine vision, with a large number of application. This algorithm is designed for the defect inspection of polyethylene.

  • Up to now, most researches on production automation have concentrated on local automation, e. g. CAD, CAM, robotics, etc. However, to achieve total automation it is required to link each local modules such as CAD, CAM into a unified and integrated system. One such missing link is between CAD and computer vision system. This thesis is an attempt to link the gap between CAD and computer vision system. In this paper, we propose algorithms that carry out edge detection, thinning and pruning from the image data of manufactured parts, which are obtained from video camera and then transmitted to computer. We also propose a feature extraction and surface determination algorithm which extract informations from the image data. The informations are compatible to IGES CAD data. In addition, we suggest a methodology to reduce search efforts for CAD data bases. The methodology is based on graph submatching algorithm in GEFG(Generalized Edge Face Graph) representation for each part.

Development of the Emotion Evaluation System for the Repeated Computational Stress (반복 연산 스트레스에 대한 감성 평가 시스템 구현)

  • 본 연구에서는 20대 남자 대학생 45명에게 반복 연산 스트레스를 유발시키기 위하여 세 단계의 난이도를 갖는 덧셈 연산을 수행하게 하였으며, 이때 각 피검자들로부터 이에 대한 생체 신호를 측정하였다. 측정된 생체 신호로부터 제시된 연산 스트레스에 대한 감성을 평가하기 위하여 7개의 생체 파라미터를 사용하였고, 비선형 특성을 갖는 연산 스트레스에 대한 감성을 평가하기 위하여 세 단계의 구조를 갖는 감성 평가 시스템을 구성하였다. 또한 감성평가 시스템의 성능을 비교하기 위하여 평가 시스템의 각 단계를 선형 판별 알고리즘인 Least Mean Square Algorithm을 이용한 경우와 비선형 판별 알고리즘인 Radial-Based Functional-link Net을 이용한 경우를 사용하였다. 각 감성 평가 시스템은 Cross Validation을 사용하여 성능을 비교하였으며, 전체 감성 평가 시스템에서의 연산 스트레스에 대한 감성 평가 정확도는 선형 알고리즘을 이용할 경우 63.02%, RBFLN을 이용한 경우는 83.07%를 얻었다.

A New Landsat Image Co-Registration and Outlier Removal Techniques

  • Image co-registration is the process of overlaying two images of the same scene. One of which is a reference image, while the other (sensed image) is geometrically transformed to the one. Numerous methods were developed for the automated image co-registration and it is known as a timeconsuming and/or computation-intensive procedure. In order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the co-registration of satellite imagery, this paper proposes a pre-qualified area matching, which is composed of feature extraction with Laplacian filter and area matching algorithm using correlation coefficient. Moreover, to improve the accuracy of co-registration, the outliers in the initial matching point should be removed. For this, two outlier detection techniques of studentized residual and modified RANSAC algorithm are used in this study. Three pairs of Landsat images were used for performance test, and the results were compared and evaluated in terms of robustness and efficiency.

  • As the 4th industry has been widely distributed, there is a need for a process of real-time image recognition in various fields such as identification of company employees, security maintenance, and development of military weapons. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose an algorithm that effectively recognizes a test object by comparing it with the DB model. The proposed object recognition system first expresses the outline of the test object as a set of vertices with the distances of predefined length or more. Then, the degree of matching of the structures of the two objects is calculated by examining the distances to the outline of the DB model from the vertices constituting the test object. Because the proposed recognition algorithm uses the outline of the object, the recognition process is easy to understand, simple to implement, and a satisfactory recognition result is obtained.

  • With the advent of the fourth industry, the need for office automation with automatic character recognition capabilities is increasing day by day. Therefore, in this paper, we study a character recognition algorithm that effectively recognizes a new experimental data character by using learning data characters. The proposed algorithm computes the degree of similarity that the structural regions of learning data characters match the corresponding regions of the experimental data character. It has been confirmed that satisfactory results can be obtained by selecting the learning data character with the highest degree of similarity in the matching process as the final recognition result for a given experimental data character.

Performance Evaluation of Pixel Clustering Approaches for Automatic Detection of Small Bowel Obstruction from Abdominal Radiographs

  • Plain radiographic analysis is the initial imaging modality for suspected small bowel obstruction. Among the many features that affect the diagnosis of small bowel obstruction (SBO), the presence of gas-filled or fluid-filled small bowel loops is the most salient feature that can be automatized by computer vision algorithms. In this study, we compare three frequently applied pixel-clustering algorithms for extracting gas-filled areas without human intervention. In a comparison involving 40 suspected SBO cases, the Possibilistic C-Means and Fuzzy C-Means algorithms exhibited initialization-sensitivity problems and difficulties coping with low intensity contrast, achieving low 72.5% and 85% success rates in extraction. The Adaptive Resonance Theory 2 algorithm is the most suitable algorithm for gas-filled region detection, achieving a 100% success rate on 40 tested images, largely owing to its dynamic control of the number of clusters.

  • Information that is acquired by adhered sensors on a body has been commonly used for the three-dimensional real-time motion capture algorithm. This paper describes realtime motion capture algorithm using computer vision. In a real-time image sequence, human body silhouette is extracted use a background subtraction between background image and the reference image. Then a human standing posture whether forward or backward is estimated by extraction of skin region in the silhoutte.   • In this paper, we propose a method for classifying and tracking objects based on information of multiple users obtained using RGB-D cameras. The 3D information and color information acquired through the RGB-D camera are acquired and information about each user is stored. We propose a user classification and location tracking algorithm in the entire image by calculating the similarity between users in the current frame and the previous frame through the information on the location and appearance of each user obtained from the entire image.
