  • Nanoimprint Lithography(NIL) has increasingly been recognized as a key manufacturing technology for nanosized feature. One of the most important task for nanoimprint lithography is to provide the imprinting stamp with low price. The Stamp fabricated with Si based material by e-beam lithography, RIE is extremely expensive and its throughput is very limited and PDMS replica is too soft to hold high imprinting pressure.(>5atm) In this study, we present the imprinting stamp which can be easily replicated from original mold and is based on PVC film. Replication of original Si mold to PVC film was done by Hot embossing technique, ($120^{\circ}C$ of Temperature, 20 atm applied) As small as 100nm patterns were successfully transferred into PVC film. The size of stamp was up to 100mm in diameter.

  • This paper presents the haptic rendering algorithm which gives the feel information to the operator by manipulating a virtual tool with a haptic device in the simulated environment. The movement of a virtual tool grasped by the operator, which is modeled as a square is displayed in the graphic screen of a computer and the virtual environment is modeled as deformable thin film. When the tool contacts with the virtual environment, the operator is forced to feel the contact and the feature of the deformed virtual environment through the torque control of th haptic device. Contact situations are modeled as close as to the reality considering friction, elasticity and multiple contacts. Several experiments are conducted and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is confirmed.

  • Inexpensive large area arrays of thin film transistors (TFTs) on flexible substrates will enable many new display products that cannot be cost effectively manufactured by conventional means. This paper presents a new approach for low cost manufacturing of electronic devices using roll-to-roll (R2R) processes exclusively. It was developed in partnership by Hewlett Packard Laboratories and Iowa Thin Film Technologies (ITFT), a solar cell manufacturer. The approach combines ITFT's unique processes for vacuum deposition and etching of semiconductors, dielectrics and metals on continuous plastic webs with a method HP has invented for the patterning and aligning the multiple layers of a TFT with sub-micron accuracy and feature size.

  • In this paper, we propose a method that converts motion vectors on MPEG coded domain as a uniform set, independent of the frame type and the direction of prediction, and directly utilizes these normalized motion vectors for understanding video contents. This frame-type-independent motion vectors are utilized as feature information for image retrieval or moving object tracking on compressed domain. By simulation, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method and compare its performance to the conventional method.

  • ZTO/n-Si thin film is produced to investigate tunneling phenomena by interface characteristics by the depletion layer. For diversity of the depletion layer, the thin film of ZTO is heat treated after deposition, and the gpolarization is found to change depending on the heat treatment temperature and capacitance. The higher the heat treatment temperature is, the higher the capacitance is, because more charges are formed, the highest at $150^{\circ}C$. The capacitance decreases at $200^{\circ}C$ ZTO heat treated at $150^{\circ}C$ shows tunneling phenomena, with low non-resistance and reduced charge concentration. When the carrier concentration is low and the resistance is low, the depletion layer has an increased potential barrier, which results in a tunneling phenomenon, which results in an increase in current. However, the ZTO thin film with high charge or high resistance shows a Schottky junction feature. The reason for the great capacitance increase is the increased current due to tunneling in the depletion layer.

  • This paper is about some aspects of the late-modern representation of antiquity in Western countries. The timeframe is mostly the decades since the 1980s, but some works are also mentioned from previous phases. Some information is given on the late-modern historical novel, characterized by mixture of genres and intertextual references to historical events and contemporary varieties of discourse. Eclecticism would seem to be a characteristic feature, and it mainly consists of a mixture of real events and imagination, cohabitation of ancient settings and modernized characters, and interaction between high and low culture. Commercialization often accompanies novels on antiquity in the $21^{st}$ century. And ideologies such as romanness, germanism and barbarianism are employed by some authors to refer to contemporary realities. A number of films and novels are mentioned. More specific analysis focuses on Valerio Manfredi's The Last Legion and the film based on the book; Simon Scarrow's Gladiator: The Fight for Freedom; and Robert Harris's Pompeii.

  • The gait recognition is presented for human identification from a sequence of noisy silhouettes segmented from video by capturing at a distance. The proposed gait recognition algorithm gives better performance than the baseline algorithm because of segmentation of the object by using multiple modules; i) motion detection, ii) object region detection, iii) head detection, and iv) active shape models, which solve the baseline algorithm#s problems to make background, to remove shadow, and to be better recognition rates. For the experiment, we used the HumanID Gait Challenge data set, which is the largest gait benchmarking data set with 122 objects, For realistic simulation we use various values for the following parameters; i) viewpoint, ii) shoe, iii) surface, iv) carrying condition, and v) time.

  • This paper presents an efficient and robust approach for determining the correspondence between unbalanced stereo images. The disparity vectors were used instead of feature points, such as corners, to calculate a correspondence relationship. For a faster and optimal estimation, the vectors were classified into several regions, and the homography of each region was calculated using the RANSAC algorithm. The correspondence image was calculated from the images transformed by each homography. Although it provided good results under normal conditions, it was difficult to obtain reliable results in an unbalanced stereo pair. Therefore, a balancing method is also proposed to minimize the unbalance effects using the histogram specification and structural similarity index. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach outperformed the baseline algorithms with respect to the speed and peak-signal-to-noise ratio. This work can be applied to practical fields including 3D depth map acquisition, fast stereo coding, 2D-to-3D conversion, etc.

  • This study deals with the aesthetic characteristics in Gareth Pugh's fashion film. As fashion films are becoming a newly emerging communication tool in fashion, the aim of this study will be to build a database on these films. For the specific method in this work, literature reviews were performed along with the empirical study of seven pieces of fashion film. The results of the study showed that Gareth Pugh released the fashion films from 2008 to 2012, and he collaborated with SHOW Studio member and photographer Nick Knight and Ruth Hogben. Common themes in their films were fear, fantasy, dynamics, and going off-limits, and these can be summed up in the following ways. First, a sense of fear was expressed via black colors, bizarre mechanical sounds, decalcomania shape in abstract images, and transformed physical body images. Second, an image of fantasy was presented with diverse expression techniques including colorful light presentations and abstract image setups from repeatedly changed image reproduction. Third, dynamic feature was denoted with a combination of fast development of images and quick reproduced layouts, as well as quick beat sounds, and big and powerful action movements. Fourth, characteristic of going off-limits was reflected, by showing the collections with a communication tool called fashion film instead of existing collection concept.

  • The rare-earth oxides M2O3 (M=La, Pr, Gd) are good insulators due to their large band gap (3.9eV for Pr2O3, 5.6eV for Gd2O3), they have high dielectric constants (Gd2O3 K=16, La2O3 K=27, Pr2O3 K=26-30) and, compared to ZrO2 and HfO2, they have higher thermodynamic stability on silicon making them very attractive materials for high-K dielectric applications. Another attractive feature of some rare-earth oxides is their relatively close lattice match to that of silicon, offering the possibility of epitaxial growth and eliminating problems related to grain boundaries in polycrystalline films. Metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) has been preferred to PVD methods because of the possibility of large area deposition, good composition control and excellent conformal step coverage. Herein we report on the synthesis of rare-earth oxide complexes with designed alkoxide and aminoalkoxide ligand. These novel complexes have been characterized by means of FT-IR, elemental analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
