The calcination and hydrogen-reduction behavior of Fe- and Ni-nitrate have been investigated. $Fe_2O_3$/NiO composite powders were prepared by chemical solution mixing of Fe- and Ni-nitrate and calcination at $350^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The calcined powders were hydrogen-reduced at $350^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The calcination and hydrogen-reduction behavior of Fe- and Ni-nitrate were analyzed by TG in air and hydrogen atmosphere, respectively. TG and XRD analysis for hydrogen-reduced powders revealed that the $Fe_2O_3$/NiO phase transformed to $FeNi_3$ phase at the temperature of $350^{\circ}$. The activation energy for the hydrogen reduction, evaluated by Kissinger method, was measured as 83.0 kJ/mol.
The densification of the compacts of pure Co, Fe+50%.Co and Fe+25% Co sintered under H$_2$ gas or in vacuum was investigated. The effects of AL, Nb, Ti, and V additions on the densification were also studied. The sintered compact of Co was fully-dense when the density of the compact was lower than $Dg^c$. However, above $Dg^{c}$, it was never fully-dense regardless of sintering atmosphere, temperature, and time. The densification of sintered compacts of Fe-50% Co and Fe-25% Co were always incomplete. While the addition of AL made all compacts fully-dense, the addition of Ti was effective for the compacts of Co and Fe-25% Co. V was effective only for the Fe-25% Co. These results tell us that the particle size of Co powder, the amount of Fe, and the amount of additives forming stable oxides play on important role for the complete densification. Therefore it is desirable to reduce or eliminate the equilibrium pressure of H$_{2}$O or CO in isolated pores to obtain a fully-dense sintered compact.

The injection molded Fe sintered bodies were fabricated using two kinds of nano Fe powders, $Fe-5%vol.ZrO_2$ and $Fe-10vol.%ZrO_2$ powders. The relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties depending on the $ZrO_2$ contents and sintering temperature were characterized by SEM and TEM techniques. In the wear test, the $Fe-0vol%ZrO_2$ sintered bodies showed mainly adhesive wear, but in the Fe-5%vol. $ZrO_2$ and Fe-10vol. % $ZrO_2$ composites the main wear behavior showed abrasive wear mode.
The porous metals are known as relatively excellent characteristic such as large surface area, light, lower heat capacity, high toughness and permeability. The Fe-Cr-Al alloys have high corrosion resistance, heat resistance and chemical stability for high temperature applications. And then many researches are developed the Fe-Cr-Al porous metals for exhaust gas filter, hydrogen reformer catalyst support and chemical filter. In this study, the Fe-Cr-Al porous metals are developed with Fe-22Cr-6Al(wt) powder using powder compaction method. The mean size of Fe-22Cr-6Al(wt) powders is about $42.69{\mu}m$. In order to control pore size and porosity, Fe-Cr-Al powders are sintered at $1200{\sim}1450^{\circ}C$ and different sintering maintenance as 1~4 hours. The powders are pressed on disk shapes of 3 mm thickness using uniaxial press machine and sintered in high vacuum condition. The pore properties are evaluated using capillary flow porometer. As sintering temperature increased, relative density is increased from 73% to 96% and porosity, pore size are decreased from 27 to 3.3%, from 3.1 to $1.8{\mu}m$ respectively. When the sintering time is increased, the relative density is also increased from 76.5% to 84.7% and porosity, pore size are decreased from 23.5% to 15.3%, from 2.7 to $2.08{\mu}m$ respectively.
MgO based nanocomposite powder including ferromagnetic iron particle dispersions, which can be available for the magnetic and catalytic applications, was fabricated by the spray pyrolysis process using ultra-sonic atomizer and reduction processes. Liquid source was prepared from iron (Fe)-nitrate, as a source of Fe nano-dispersion, and magnesium (Mg)-nitrate, as a source of MgO materials, with pure water solvent. After the chamber were heated to given temperatures (500~$^800{\circ}C$), the mist of liquid droplets generated by ultrasonic atomizer carried into the chamber by a carrier gas of air, and the ist was decomposed into Fe-oxide and MgO nano-powder. The obtained powders were reduced by hydrogen atmosphere at 600~$^800{\circ}C$. The reduction behavior was investigated by thermal gravity and hygrometry. After reduction, the aggregated sub-micron Fe/MgO powders were obtained, and each aggregated powder composed of nano-sized Fe/MgO materials. By the difference of the chamber temperature, the particle size of Fe and MgO was changed in a few 10 nm levels. Also, the nano-porous Fe-MgO sub-micron powders were obtained. Through this preparation process and the evaluation of phase and microstructure, it was concluded that the Fe/MgO nanocomposite powders with high surface area and the higher coercive force were successfully fabricated.

This paper described the preparation method for composing high-grade synthetic diamond by water atomizing using FeNi30 powder catalyst. The objective of this article is about powder making process using super high water atomizing in the atmosphere of inert gas, and then corroded the powder with a corrosion inhibitor. Finally, FeNi30 catalyst powder with lower oxygen content and good sphericity is produced. The experiment of making diamonds by using cubic press and the performance of the diamonds are also discussed.
Fe nanopowders were successfully synthesized by plasma arc discharge (PAD) process using Fe rod. The influence of chamber pressure on the microstructure was investigated by means of X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The prepared particles had nearly spherical shapes and consisted of metallic cores (a-Fe) and oxide shells (Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$), The powder size increased with increasing chamber pressure due to the higher dissolution and ejection rate of H$_2$ and gas density in the molten metal.

Fabrication of $Fe_3AlC$ matrix in-situ composite, reinforced by a FeAl phase, was studied by using the powder metallurgical processing route. Especially, in order to disperse the second phase more finely, we chose the mechanical alloying process. We investigated the microstructural and mechanical properties of the consolidated material. After consolidation by vacuum hot pressing, the compact showed almost full density and consisted of a $Fe_3AlC$ matrix and FeAl second phase (average particle size was less than 1m). The compact showed HV746, which was higher than that of the arc melted $Fe_3AlC$ monolithic material, HV603.
Mechanical alloying using high-energy ball mill and subsequent spark plasma sintering (SPS) process was applied to Al-Fe-Cr and Al-Fe-Mo powder mixture to investigate effects of Cr and Mo addition on thermal stability of Al-Fe, and thereby to enhance its thermal stability up to $500^{\circC}$. Various analytical techniques including micro-Vickers hardness test, SEM, TEM, X-ray diffractometry and corrosion test were carried out. It was found that addition of Cr and Mo to Al-Fe system played a role of grain growth inhibitor of matrix Al and some precipitates such as $Al_3Fe$ during SPS and subsequent heat treatment. The inhibition of grain growth resulted in increased Vickers hardness and thermal stability up to $500^{\circC}$ comparing to those of Al-Fe alloy system.
