NPC 인버터 시스템에서 개방성 고장시 PWM 특성을 이용한 새로운 고장 검출 방법 (A Novel Fault Detection Method using the PWM Characteristic at Open-Circuit Fault in NPC Inverter Systems)

  • In this paper, a novel fault detection method is proposed when the neutral-point-clamped inverter has a open-circuit fault in the switching device. This proposed method is configured with simple circuit and is achieved by a simple algorithm using the inherent characteristic of the continuous Pulse Width Modulation. Also, this method has the fast fault detection ability and is much simpler to embody, in comparison with conventional fault detection methods. This ability to detect fault minimizes harmful effect which are such as DC-link voltage unbalance and overstress to other switching devices. Therefore, this proposed fault detection method can improve reliability of NPC inverter system. Experimental results are presented to verify the validity of proposed fault detection method.

  • 이 논문에서는 신호 모델에 기반하여 유도전동기의 고장 검출 및 고장 진단을 위한 새로운 시스템을 제안한다. 산업현장에 적용하는 기존의 제품들은 신호가 문턱치를 넘어면 고장을 검출하는 단순한 알고리듬을 가지고 있어 고장의 유형이나 고장을 예측하는데 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위한 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 고장 검출 과정과 고장 진단 과정으로 구성되며, 고장 검출 과정은 기계 신호음들이 웨이블렛 필터뱅크를 통과한 후 웨이블렛 계수들의 분산과 상관도를 분석하여 고장을 검출한다. 고장 진단 과정은 패턴분류기술을 적용하여 고장의 유형을 진단하게 된다. 대표적인 유도전동기 고장 유형들로서는 불평형, 미스얼라이먼트, 그리고 베어링 루스 등이 있으며, 이러한 유형들은 제안하는 시스템에서 분석되고 진단을 받게 된다. 제안하는 시스템에 적용한 결과 상관도를 이용한 방법은 78 %, 분산을 이용한 방법은 95 % 이상의 고장진단율을 보이는 우수한 결과를 나타내었다.

  • To increase reliability and performance of an IMS(Intelligent Manufacturing System), fault tolerant control based on an accurate fault diagnosis is needed. In this paper, robot FDI(fault detection and identification) is proposed for IMS where the robot is controlled with state estimates of a nonlinear filter using a mathematical robot model. The Chi-square distribution is applied fault detection and fault size is estimated by a proposed bias filter. Performance of the proposed algorithm is tested by simulation for studies.

  • A fault detection algorithm of a charge and discharge system to ensure the safe use of hybrid electric vehicle is proposed in this paper. This algorithm can be used as a complementary way to existing fault detection technique for a charge and discharge system. The proposed algorithm uses a SVDD technique, which additionally utilizes two methods for learning a large amount of data; one is to incrementally learn a large amount of data, the other one is to remove the data that does not affect the next learning using a new data reduction technique. Removal of data is selected by using lines connecting support vectors. In the proposed method, the data processing speed is drastically improved and the storage space used is remarkably reduced than the conventional methods using the SVDD technique only. A battery data and speed data of a commercial hybrid electrical vehicle are utilized in this study. A fault boundary is produced via SVDD techniques using the input and output in normal operation of the system without using mathematical modeling. A fault detection simulation is performed using both an artificial fault data and the obtained fault boundary via SVDD techniques. In the fault detection simulation, fault detection time via proposed algorithm is compared with that of the peak-peak method. Also the proposed algorithm is revealed to detect fault in the region where conventional peak-peak method is never able to do.

  • The Steer-By-Wire(SBW) system replaces complex mechanical linkages of the current steering system with electric motors, sensors, and electronic control units. However, the SBW system should guarantee its safety and reliability before commercialization, and therefore, a reliable and robust fault-tolerant technology has to be implemented. This paper proposes a fault-tolerant control algorithm for the SBW system. Based on careful analysis on propagation effects of sensor faults, a reliable fault-tolerant control strategy has been developed. The fault-tolerant controller consists of a fault detection part that monitors and detects faults in the steering wheel and road wheel sensors, and a reconfiguration part that switches to normal sensor signal based on fault detection information. It has been demonstrated by simulation that the proposed algorithm detects sensor faults accurately and enables reliable steering control under various dynamic fault situations.

  • The fault detection and diagnosis technology may be applied in order to decrease the energy consumption and the maintenance cost of the air-conditioning system. In this study, an air handling unit fault test apparatus was built and fault diagnosis algorithms were applied to diagnose various faults of an air handling unit. Test results showed the good diagnosis for applied faults. Therefore, these algorithms may be effectively used to develope the real time fault detection and diagnosis system for the air handling unit.

선형시스템의 모델기반 고장감지와 분류 (Model-based fault detection and isolation of a linear system)

  • In this paper, we propose a model-based FDI(fault detetion and isolation) algorithm to detect and isolate fault in a linear system. The proposed algorithm is gased on an HFC(hydrid fault classifier) which consists of an FCART2(fault classifier by ART2 neural network) and an FCFM(fault classifier by fault models) which operate in parallel to isolate faults. The proposed algorithm is functionally composed of three main parts-parameter estimation, fault detection, and isolation. When a change in the system occurs, the estimated parameters go through a transition zone in which errors between the system output and the stimated output and the estimated output cross a predetermined thrseshold, and in this zone the estimated parameters are tranferred to the FCART2 for fault isolation. On the other hand, once a fault in the system is detected, the FCFM statistically isolates the fault by using the error between ach fault model out put and the system output. From the computer simulation resutls, it is verified that the proposed model-based FDI algorithm can be performed successfully to detect and isolate faults in a position control system of a DC motor.

  • When operating a complex facility, Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) system is beneficial in equipment management by providing the operator with tools which can help find out a failure of the system. In this research, FDD algorithm was developed using the general pattern classifier method that can be applied to centrifugal chiller system. The simulation model for a centrifugal chiller system was developed in order to obtain characteristic data of turbo chiller system under normal and faulty operation. We tested FDD algorithm of a centrifugal chiller using data from simulation model at full load performance and 60% part load performance. In this research, we presented fault detection method using a normalized distance. Sensitivity analysis of fault detection was carried out with respect to fault progress. FDD algorithm developed in this study was found to indicate each failure modes accurately.
