  • Fault location identification in the transmission line is an essential part of quick service restoration for maintaining a stable in power system. The application of digital schemes to protection IEDs has led to the development of digital fault locators. Normally, the impedance measurement had been used to for the location detection of transmission line faults. It is well known that the most accurate fault location scheme uses two-ended measurements. This paper deals with the complete design of a fault locator using GPS time-synchronized phasor for transmission line fault detection. The fault location algorithm uses the transmitted relaying signals from the two-ended terminal. The fault locator hardware consists of a Main Processor Unit, Analog Digital Processor Unit, Signal Interface Unit, and Power module. In this paper, sample real-time test cases using COMTRADE format of Omicron apparatus are included. We can see that the implemented fault locator identified all the test faults.

Fault Detection in Automatic Identification System Data for Vessel Location Tracking

  • This paper presents a method for detecting faults in data obtained from the Automatic Identification System (AIS) of surface vessels. The data include latitude, longitude, Speed Over Ground (SOG), and Course Over Ground (COG). We derive two methods that utilize two models: a constant state model and a derivative augmented model. The constant state model incorporates noise variables to account for state changes, while the derivative augmented model employs explicit variables such as first or second derivatives, to model dynamic changes in state. Generally, the derivative augmented model detects faults more promptly than the constant state model, although it is vulnerable to potentially overlooking faults. The effectiveness of this method is validated using AIS data collected at a harbor. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach can automatically detect faults in AIS data, thus offering partial assistance for enhancing navigation safety.

  • A model based SOC estimation scheme using parameter identification is described and applied to a Lithium-ion battery module that can be installed in electric vehicles. Simulation studies are performed to verify the effect of sensor faults on the SOC estimation results for terminal voltage sensor and load current sensor. The sensor faults should be detected and isolated as soon as possible because the SOC estimation error due to any sensor fault seriously affects the overall performance of the BMS. A new fault detection and isolation(FDI) scheme by which the fault of terminal voltage sensor and load current sensor can be detected and isolated is proposed to improve the reliability of the BMS. The proposed FDI scheme utilizes the parameter estimation of an input-output model and two fuzzy predictors for residual generation; one for terminal voltage and the other for load current. Recently developed dual polarization(DP) model is taken to develope and evaluate the performance of the proposed FDI scheme. Simulation results show the practical feasibility of the proposed FDI scheme.

원전 계측 신호 오류 식별 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation Signal Faults Identification Algorithm)

  • 본 논문에서는 원전 비상 상황 발생 시 다수의 신호 오류가 발생했을 때 어떤 신호에 오류가 발생했는지를 추정하는 신호 오류 식별 (Fault identification) 방법론을 개발하였다. 변분 오토인 코더 (Variational autoencoder; VAE) 기반 모델은 기존의 이상 탐지 방법론과 같이 정상 신호 데이터만을 이용하여 훈련이 진행되며, 이후 각 신호에 대한 복원 오차 (Reconstruction error)와 복원 오차를 입력의 특정 부분으로 미분한 값을 이용하여 어떤 부분에 오류가 포함되어 있는지를 예측한다. 데이터 취득을 위하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 일련의 실험으로부터 제시한 신호 오류 식별 방법이 적절한 오차 범위 내에서 오류가 발생한 신호를 특정할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

빠른 무해 인식에 의한 효율적인 테스트 패턴 생성 (An efficient test pattern generation based on the fast redundancy identification)

  • The fast redundancy identification is required to perform an efficient test pattern genration. Due to the reconvergent fanouts which make the dependency among objectives and the fault propagation blocking, there may exist redundnat faults in the cirucit. This paper presents the isomorphism identification and the pseudo dominator algorithms which are useful to identify redundant faults in combinational circuits. The isomorphism identification algorithm determines whether mandatory objectives required for fault detection cannot be simultaneously satisfied from primary input assignments or not using binary decision diagrma. The pseudo dominator algorithm determines whether faults propagation is possible or not by considering all paths at a given fanout node. Several experiments using ISCAS 85 benchmark circuits demonstrate the efficiency and practicability of the algorithms.

  • In this paper, time-frequency analysis using wavelet packet transform and advanced-MDSA (Multiple Dimensional Spectral Analysis) which based on wavelet packet transform is applied fur fault source identification and diagnosis of early detection of fault non-stationary sound/vibration signals. This method is analyzing the signal in the plane of instantaneous time and instantaneous frequency. The results of ordinary coherence function, which obtained by wavelet packet analysis, showed the possibility of early fault detection by analysis at the instantaneous time. So, by checking the coherence function trend, it is possible to detect which signal contains the major fault signal and to know how much the system is damaged. Finally, It is impossible to monitor the system is damaged or undamaged by using conventional method, because crest factor is almost constant under the range of magnitude of fault signal as its approach to normal signal. However instantaneous coherence function showed that a little change of fault signal is possible to monitor the system condition. And it is possible to predict the maintenance time by condition based maintenance for any stationary or non-stationary signals.

  • It is recognized that the control surface fault is detected by monitoring the value of the coefficients due to the control surface deviation. It is found out the control surface stuck position by comparing the trim value with the reference value. To detect and isolate the fault, two mixed methods apply to the real-time parameter estimation and similarity measure. If the scatter of aerodynamic coefficients for the fault and normal are closing nearly, fault decision is difficult. Applying similarity measure to decide for fault or not, it makes a clear and easy distinction between fault and normal. Low power processor is applied to the real-time parameter estimator and computation of similarity measure.
