A New Algorithm of The Line to Ground Fault Section Isolation & Restoration in Ungrounded Distribution Power System (비접지 배전 계통에서 지락사고 시 고장구간 분리 및 복구를 위한 새로운 알고리즘)

  • Fault section isolation and service restoration are very important for function of DAS. In Japan, a progressive protection method is used for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration. But the progressive protection method has a drawback that the customer will experience outage time and that the rate in use of the feeder is not over 50%. This paper presents a new Service Restoration Algorithm which is for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration method for a ungrounded distribution system. If the proposed algorithm is used, the rate in use of the feeder can improve than before because a distribution system can change multi connection of feeder and the customer's outage time can be reduced. The proposed algorithm has been successfully tested in a distribution system.

  • In this paper, an integrated fault section detection and isolation strategy is proposed based on the application of the Distribution Automation System(DAS) utilizing advanced IT and communication technologies. The Feeder Remote Terminal Unit(FRTU) has been widely used to collect data in the Korean distribution system. The achieved data is adopted in this method for detecting multiple fault types. Especially in the case of single phase-to-ground fault, the fault section is detected by comparison of the zero-sequence current phase angle. The test results have verified the effectiveness of the proposed method in a radial distribution system through extensive simulations in Matlab/Simulink. Furthermore, a communication-based demo system identical to the simulation model has been developed, and it can be applied as an online monitoring and control program for fault section detection and isolation.

  • This paper presents the improvement and application effect in fault restoration program based on distribution automation system(DAS) of KEPCO. When a fault occurs, fault restoration program can detect fault section based on FI information of DAS, and calculate the best restoration solution by comparing the load capacity of outage area and the spare load capacity of connected distribution lines, and propose switch operating procedure for fault section isolation and outage restoration. Fault restoration program was applied to real field and it was verified that this program is applicable to diverse field cases. By using this fault restoration program to the field human error can be reduced and fault procedure can be more reliable, accurate, and fast.

  • For determination of black-out area and restoration area by an expert system for fault section estimation and power system restoration using information from circuit breakers, it is necessary that the recognition of system isolation state and a method of finding the change of system isolation state by the state transition of breakers in isolated system. This paper presents a method of resolving the above problem by rule-based approach.

  • Current protection-coordination methods use the reverse time characteristics of the T-C curve, which is not effective for a LVDC distribution system because the protective operation time of converters and DC circuit breakers is much faster than AC protection devices. Therefore, an algorithm is proposed for fault-section isolation using the fault current slope to minimize the blackout region and coordinate between converters and protection devices in a rapid and accurate manner. The method deals with the slope characteristics of a fault current, which may depend on the fault location in an LVDC distribution system. Thus, an LVDC distribution system can be operated in a stable manner by isolating the fault section selectively before the shutdown of the main converter using slope characteristics, which change in proportion to the line impedance and fault location. A 1.5-kV LVDC distribution system was modeled to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm using PSCAD/EMTDC. The system is composed of a distribution substation, LVDC converter, and distribution lines. The simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm is a useful tool for minimizing the fault section in an LVDC distribution system.

  • In this paper, we propose protective coordination and automatic setting method using agents for distribution system with loop. The proposed protection scheme adopts an agent technology assuming communication among protection agents and auto-switch agents. Having exchanged fault-related information with each other, protection agents and auto-switch agents perform the primary and backup protection and fault section isolation, respectively. this proposed scheme using agents for distribution system with loop is implemented by matlab. Because of the various configuration of distribution system, It's difficult to find cooperative agents for each agent. This paper develops a program to automatically set the cooperative route for the agents.

  • 국가차원의 신재생에너지 활성화 방안에 따라 지자체 등의 분산전원 시설계획이 점차 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라서 기존의 radial 구조가 아닌 closed loop을 운영하기 위해서는 보호협조에 대한 문제가 확실히 해결되지 않고서는 계통을 안정적으로 운영할 수 없다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 radial 계통 및 계통이 변경되거나 분산전원이 연계 시 closed loop 구조를 가지는 계통의 보호기기 및 자동화 개폐기들을 Agent화 시켜 통신을 이용한 보호 및 고장 구간 분리 알고리즘을 제안 하고자 한다.
