This research aims to make people realize the importance of styles of father's communication and ego-resilience in school life adaptation and, furthermore, provide necessary data for the communication between father and children by confirming the mediation effect of ego-resilience in the relationship between the styles of father's communication, which the child recognizes, and the school life adaptation. The selected research questions to achieve such research purpose are like the following. First, what is the correlation among school life adaptation, ego-resilience, and communications styles of father that child recognizes? Second, does the ego-resilience show mediation effect in the relationship between the school life adaptation and communication styles of the father that child recognizes? The subjects for this research were 345 children in 5thand 6thgrades from B elementary school in Seo-gu, Incheon. SPSS 18.0 program was used for the collected data, and correlation analysis was performed in order to discover the relationship among variables. Regression analysis was performed to verify the mediation effect of ego-resilience. The summary of this research is like the following. First, as the result of the correlation analysis of the father's communication styles, ego-resilience and the school life adaptation, which the child recognized, the three variables showed statistically significant correlation. Among the functional and dysfunctional communication styles that child recognized, the placating style showed positive correlation with ego-resilience and school life adaptation, and among dysfunctional communication styles, the intellectualizing style, distracting style, and blaming style showed negative correlation with ego-resilience and school life adaptation. Ego-resilience and school life adaptation showed positive correlation. Second, after looking at the mediation effect of ego-resilience in the relationship of the father's communication style and school life adaptation, the result showed that ego-resilience had partial mediation effect in the relationship of the father's communication style and school life adaptation. In this research, it has significance in the aspect that it confirmed the relationship and route between the father's communication styles, school life adaptation, and ego-resilience, which child recognized. Therefore, the effort is required to research and apply desirable communication method between fathers and children in order to help students to adapt well in school life, and moreover, it is also required that ego-resilience improvement program gets developed and applied at the school field.
Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the perception of parental role held by university students and to examine difference in perception of parental role according to student characteristics. Method: The participant were 338 university student in Gangreung city. The instrument was developed by researcher and consisted of 4 subcategories ; child rearing environment, parental sensitivity, growth and development of infant, and physical care. Data were collected from May 10 to June 1 in 2004 and were analyzed using SPSS Win 10.0 program. Result: The university students' perception of total parental role had a mean item score of 4.02, with 4.12 for parental sensitivity, 4.00 for child rearing environment, 4.00 for physical care and 3.95 for growth and development. There were significant differences in perception of parental role according to sex(t=-5.55, p=.00), grade(F=13.12, p=.00), type of college(F=28.34, p=.00), father's age(F=5.01, p=.00), father's education(F=5.01, p=.00), mother's education(F=3.33, p=.03) student's marriage plan(t=2.37, p=.01) main caretaker(F=9.53, p=.00) person who lived with student in childhood(F=3.62, p=.01) and student's perception of the need for education for parental role(t=3.74, p=.00). Conclusion: The impact of childhood experience has lifelong significance on subsequent health and development. Especially, the experience of childhood is highly affected by the quality of parental role. It is important to identify university student's perception of parental role as pre-parent preparation for parenting. Therefore, pre-parent education program are necessary.
Purpose: This study was conducted to describe mother's child-rearing attitudes and problem conduct of children as perceived by children and to examine correlation between maternal nurturing attitudes and child problem behavior. Method: The participants were 338 fifth and sixth graders who attended two randomly selected elementary schools in the city of G, Gangwon province. Child-rearing attitudes of the mother were rated on a 5-pointed scale that developed by Schaefer and added by Oh & Lee(1982). Problem conduct of children were rated on a 3-pointed scale of the K-YSR by Oh Kyung-Ja et al.(1997). The data were gathered from October 2 to October 28, 2004, and the collected data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0 program. Results: For the children's perception of mother's child-rearing attitude, student had a relatively high mean scores of 3.70±0.44. Correlations between the mother's child-rearing attitude and general characteristics of the children showed statistically significantly different according to grade, father-mother relations, type of residence and extent to which father shared household chores. The mean score for problem conducts of children was 0.47±0.25. The average for their internal behavior problems was 0.52±0.33, and for external behavior problems was 0.44±0.24. There were statistically significantly differences in the behavior problem scores of the children according to the general characteristics of grade, education, occupation, mother-father relations, extent to which father shared in household chores and religion. As to correlation between mother's child-rearing attitude and their problem conduct, every type of attitude had a significantly moderate reverse correlation to every type of behavior problem of the children(r=-.431, p=.000). Conclusion: Mother's child-rearing attitudes might affect the problem conduct of children, and mother should try to treat their children with affection and respect, to maintain good relations with father, and to bring their children up coherently in an autonomous, permissive, positive and democratic manner.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between the young children's creative trait and personality affecting their learning readiness. The participants were 131 young children in kindergartens or nursery schools and their mothers from Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungnam province. The instruments were the Korea Learning Readiness Test, Young Children's Creative Traits Test, and Young Children's Personality Test. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson's partial correlation, stepwise multiple regression, and Scheff$\'{e}$ test by SPSS PC(version17.0) program. The results were as follows. Firstly, there were no significant differences in young children's learning readiness, creative trait and personality by children's age, location, school type, father's age, mother's educational level and mother's job type, while there were significant differences in the creative trait and the subfactor scores of personality by children's sex, father's educational level and parents' job type. Secondly, there was a positive partial correlation(r = .20~.24) between young children's learning readiness and creative trait, while there were no correlations between their learning readiness and personality and between their personality and creative trait. Thirdly, cognitive factor of creative trait and father's educational level did not effectively explain the children's learning readiness.
The purpose of this study is (1) to explore fathers' interest and involvement concerning their child's education as related to demographic variables of family, fathers' parenting behavior, and participation in the daily life of their children. A total of 220 fathers of children in elementary to high school participated in this study and responded to a questionnaire. T-test, oneway ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used for data analysis. The findings are as follows: 1) The level of fathers' interest and involvement in their child's education was relatively high. 2) Fathers' interest and involvement in their child's education were significantly different according to the father's educational level and socioeconomic status, but not to the child's gender and age. The better a child's school achievement was, the higher the father's interest and involvement in their child's education was. 3) Fathers' affectionate parenting behavior and participation in the daily life of their children affected the fathers' interest and involvement in their children's education. A computer program for automatic deriving the symbolic equations of motion for robots using the programming language MATHEMATICA has been developed. The program, developed based on the Lagrange formalism, is applicable to the closed chain robots as well as the open chain robots. The closed chains are virtually cut open, and the kinematics and dynamics of the virtual open chain robot are analyzed. The constraints are applied to the virtually cut joints. As a result, the spatial closed chain robot can be considered as a tree structured open chain robot with kinematic constraints. The topology of tree structured open chain robot is described by a FATHER array. The FATHER array of a link indicates the link that is connected in the direction of base link. The constraints are represented by Lagrange multipliers. The parallel robot, DELTA, having three-dimensional closed chains is modeled and simulated to illustrate the approach.
The purpose of this study was to explore the nature of parent education programs for fathers with children aged 1 through 5 year-old. One-Hundred forty-four fathers were answered using questionaire designed to elicit their perception of fathering, the details of domain parent education, and parent education program.
