A correlation method for high-frequency response of a cargo during dry transport in high seas

  • Cargo, such as a Tension Leg Platform (TLP), Semi-submersible platform (Semi), Spar or a circular Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), are frequently dry-transported on a Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) from the point of construction to the point of installation. The voyage can span months and the overhanging portions of the hull can be subject to frequent wave slamming events in rough weather. Tie-downs or sea-fastening are usually provided to ensure the safety of the cargo during the voyage and to keep the extreme responses of the cargo, primarily for the installed equipment and facilities, within the design limits. The proper design of the tie-down is dependent on the accurate prediction of the wave slamming loads the cargo will experience during the voyage. This is a difficult task and model testing is a widely accepted and adopted method to obtain reliable sea-fastening loads and extreme accelerations. However, it is crucial to realize the difference in the inherent stiffness of the instrument that is used to measure the tri-axial sea fastening loads and the prototype design of the tie-downs. It is practically not possible to scale the tri-axial load measuring instrument stiffness to reflect the real tie-down stiffness during tests. A correlation method is required to systematically and consistently account for the stiffness differences and correct the measured results. Direct application of the measured load tends to be conservative and lead to over-design that can reflect on the overall cost and schedule of the project. The objective here is to employ the established correlation method to provide proper high-frequency responses to topsides and hull design teams. In addition, guidance for optimizing tie-down design to avoid damage to the installed equipment, facilities and structural members can be provided.

동역학 시뮬레이션을 통한 농업부산물 수집기 체결장치의 안전성 분석 (Simulation Study on the Safety of a Fastening Device of Agricultural By-product Collector)

  • In this study, the safety of fastening device for the agricultural by-product collector was evaluated according to the driving ground conditions by deriving the stress, static safety factor, and fatigue life using dynamic simulation. A 3D modeling of agricultural by-product collector was carried out, and simulation model was developed by applying the material properties. As a result of dynamic simulation, the magnitude of the maximum stress generated in the fastening device was the highest when driving on the flat off-road, followed by sloped pave-road and flat pave-road. Static safety factor and fatigue life were the highest when driving on the flat pave-road, followed by sloped pave-road and flat off-road. The safety of fastening device was confirmed that static safety factor was more than 1.0 and service life exceeded 9 years in all driving ground conditions.

  • Numerical analysis is carried out to identify the appropriateness of the design codes that is available for the tensile design of fastening system at Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in this study. This study is intended for the cast-in-place anchor that is widely used for the fastening of equipment in Korean NPPs. The microplane model and the elastic-perfectly plastic model are employed for the quasi-brittle material like concrete and for the ductile material like anchor bolt as constitutive model for numerical analysis and smeared crack model is employed for the crack and damage phenomena. The developed numerical model is verified on a basis of the various test data of cast-in-place anchor. The appropriateness of both ACI 349 Code and CCD approach of CEB-FIP Code is evaluated for the tensile design of cast-in-place anchor and it is proved that both design codes give a conservative results compared with real tensile capacity of cast-in-place anchor.

  • This study was carried out to suggest the effective reinforcing method which can evaluate the tensile capacity of cast-in-place anchor with cracks. Currently, cast-in-place anchor is used widely for the fastening of equipment in Korean NPPs. 26 test specimens with a single anchor under 4 cracked conditions are prepared using plain concrete. The distance between crack and anchor and reinforcing materials were selected as the main test variable. The tensile force was applied using a actuator with a capacity of 100 tonf using a displacement control method of 0.5 mm/min velocity. Test results from this result show the combination of carbon plate and epoxy will be more available for repair and reinforcement of equipment foundation system in NPPs. Further experimental work is indeed involving the epoxy injection effect and adjustment of reinforcing location of carbon sheet.

  • This paper presents technologies to improve the control of an impact wrench. Impact wrench is a tool which is held by the electro-mechanical manipulator and used to fasten and loosen the bolts for remote maintenance of equipment in hostile environment. Vision system was developed to measure the distance and improve the positioning of the impact wrench. The vision system used two laser beams with a CCTV camera. Also, a torque adjusting method was developed to limit the fastening torque.

  • 파워록은 동력을 전달하는 축에 설치되는 부품으로, 연결되는 두 축의 비정열을 보상하고 과부하 또는 비정상적인 부하가 걸릴 경우 동력을 단절하여 주요 부품을 보호하는 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 파워록의 내륜에 형성된 테이퍼 등의 형상과 볼트 체결력, 그리고 마찰이 동력전달 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 두 개의 모델에 대해 실험과 유한요소 해석을 수행하여 유한요소해석 결과의 신뢰성을 검증하였고. 유한요소 해석 결과 및 이론 분석을 통해서 각 인자가 동력전달 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

스마트 건설안전관리시스템의 중요도-성과도 분석 연구 (Research on Importance-Performance Analysis of Smart Construction Safety Management System)

  • This study analyzes the importance-performance analysis (IPA) of the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, and analyzes which dimensions are important and which dimensions are performing to determine key improvement tasks, incremental improvement tasks, Maintenance and reinforcement tasks and continuous maintenance tasks were derived. Among the 10 dimensions of the smart construction safety management system, the dimensions that are recognized as important by all field managers and field workers and have high performance are the automatic risk displacement measurement system, smart environmental sensor system, and heavy equipment seizure prevention system. However, areas that were perceived as having high importance but low performance were worker location tracking systems, smart safety helmet chin muscles, and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field managers, areas for key improvement with high importance and low performance included worker location tracking system and smart safety ring fastening. Among the smart construction safety management systems perceived by field workers, the area for key improvement with high importance and low performance was the automatic risk displacement measurement system.

  • 대나무의 휨 강성이 지지력 증대에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해서는 대나무 망 구조체의 역학적 특성에 대한 시험이 필요하나, 현재까지 이러한 시험을 실시할 수 있는 장치는 개발되어 있지 않은 상태이다. 이에 본 연구를 통하여 대나무 망 구조체의 응력-변위 거동특성을 시험할 수 있는 장치를 개발하였으며, 대나무 망 구조제의 역학적 특성시험과 장비별 접지압과의 비교를 통해 대나무 망으로 보강한 지반에서 시공중 변위가 고려된 최소 복토두께 산정에 대하여 분석하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 원전에서 기기 정착을 위하여 가장 널리 적용되는 직매형 앵커기초를 대상으로 앵커기초의 인장 설계기준에 대한 적정성을 검토하기 위하여 수치해석이 수행되었다. 본 연구에서 수치해석모형에 적용된 파괴기준으로서 콘크리트와 같은 유사 취성재료에는 Microplane모형이, 앵커볼트와 같은 연성재료에는 탄성-완전 소성모형이 적용되었다. 그리고, 균열 발생현상을 모사하기 위하여 분산균열모형을 채택하였다. 개발된 수치해석모형은 다양한 경우의 실증시험결과를 근거로 신뢰성이 검증되었으며, 검증된 수치해석모형과 앵커볼트의 유효매입깊이를 변수로 한 다양한 경우에 대한 수치해석을 통하여 직매형 앵커기초의 인장설계기준으로서 적용이 가능한 ACI 349 Code와 CEB-FIP Code가 평가되었고, 그 보수성이 확인되었다.
