A Fast Adaptive Corner Detection Based on Curvature Scale Space

  • Corners play an important role in describing object features for pattern recognition and identification. This paper proposed a fast and adaptive corner detector in both coarse and fine scale, followed by the framework of the curvature scale space (CSS). An adaptive curvature threshold and evaluating of angles of corner candidates are added to original CSS to remove round corners and false corners in the detecting process. The efficiency of proposed method is compared to other popular detectors in both accuracy criteria, stability and time consuming. Results illustrate that the proposed method performs extremely surpass in both areas.

Embedded System-Based Fast Fourier Transform Method for Measuring Water Content in Crude Oil

  • The moisture content of crude oil notably affects various aspects of oil production, storage, transportation, and exploration. However, accurately measuring this moisture content is challenging because of numerous influencing factors, leading to a lack of precision in existing detection methods. This inadequacy hinders the progress of China's petroleum industry. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a conductivity-based method for measuring crude oil moisture content. By employing an embedded system, we designed a sensor comprising five electrodes. Additionally, we developed signal excitation and signal processing circuits. Moreover, a software program was designed to analyze and compute the output signal using fast Fourier transform operations. This facilitated the identification of flow patterns, computation of relevant flow rates, and establishment of correlation rates based on frequency spectral characteristics. Based on experimental results, we established a functional relationship between measurement parameters and crude oil moisture content. This study enhanced the precision of moisture content measurement, thereby addressing existing limitations and fostering the advancement of China's petroleum industry.

  • Fingerprints have been widely used in the biometric authentication because of its performance, uniqueness and universality. Lately, the speed of identification has become a very important aspect in the fingerprint-based security applications. Also, the reliability still remains the main issue in the fingerprint identification. A fast and reliable fingerprint matching algorithm based on the process of the 'self-nonself' discrimination in the biological immune system was proposed. The proposed algorithm is organized by two-matching stages. The 1st matching stage utilized the self-space and MHC detector string set that are generated from the information of the minutiae and the values of the directional field. The 2nd matching stage was made based on the local-structure of the minutiae. The proposed matching algorithm reduces matching time while maintaining the reliability of the matching algorithm.

  • RFID is a generic term for technologies which use RF waves to identify, track, or categorize any object. A radio frequency identification (RFID) reader recognizes objects through wireless communications with RFID tags. Tag collision arbitration for passive tags is a significant issue for fast tag identification due to communication over a shared wireless channel. One of the research areas in RFID system is a tag anti-collision protocol. In this paper, various anti-collision protocols are discussed. The pros and cons of different anti-collision protocols are compared with each other and their performance is analyzed and the better performance anti-collision protocol is suggested.

  • In this paper, we suggest a new space vector PWM modulation method with very short processing time which does not need identification of nearest three vectors(NTV) and duty ratio for each vector. The suggested PWM method makes mean value of phase voltage to be same as reference during every modulation period by use of a triangle in small hexagon on multi-level vector space. This paper described the suggested modulation method can be successfully applied to the space vector modulation use of multi-level inverter by computer simulations and experiments.

  • The plant-pathogenic species S. scabies, S. acidiscabies, and S. turgidiscabies cause the scab disease of potato and produce the phytotoxins, thaxtomins. necl, a gene conferring a necrogenic phenotype, is involved in pathogenicity and physically linked to the thaxtomin A biosynthetic genes. Identification of the pathogenic strains of Streptomyces from soil was performed through the polymerase chain reaction by using specific pathogenicity primer sets derived from the necl gene sequences of Streptomyces smbies. The DNA was extracted from soil using a bead-beating machine and modifications of the FastPrep system. The DNA was suitable for direct use in the PCR. The PCR products showed the bands of approximately 460 bp. This methods can be very usuful in identifying species responsible for scab diseases and studying on the ecology of plant-pathogenic Streptomyces spp.

  • This paper presents identification and control of a surface mounting system. The mount head of the system is modeled to analyze its dynamic characteristics, which is critical to the placement performance of the mounter. Based on this model, an identification work is carried out to estimate the modeled parameters by using genetic algorithm (GA), which plays a role of minimizing an error between the actual response and the model response. Having obtained the identified parameters, we design a disturbance observer control to compensate the friction. The disturbance observer can estimate the friction force and the uncertainty of the system. From the experimental results, it is found that the proposed disturbance observer plus PID controller show a better performance than PID controller alone. Experimental study on bridge structural health monitoring using blind source separation method: arch bridge

  • A new output only modal analysis method is developed in this paper. This method uses continuous wavelet transform to modify a popular blind source separation algorithm, second order blind identification (SOBI). The wavelet modified SOBI (WMSOBI) method replaces original time domain signal with selected time-frequency domain wavelet coefficients, which overcomes the shortcomings of SOBI. Both numerical and experimental studies on bridge models are carried out when there are limited number of sensors. Identified modal properties from WMSOBI are analyzed and compared with fast Fourier transform (FFT), SOBI and eigensystem realization algorithm (ERA). The comparison shows WMSOBI can identify as many results as FFT and ERA. Further case study of structural health monitoring (SHM) on an arch bridge verifies the capability to detect damages by combining WMSOBI with incomplete flexibility difference method.

  • 본 논문에서는 항공기의 제어면 혹은 구동장치가 고장이 났을 때 이를 신속하게 진단규명하고 안정한 상태로 되돌리기 위한 고장보완제어시스템을 설계한다. 제어시스템 설계에는 수렴 속도가 빠른 확장 역전파 알고리즘을 적용한 신경회로망을 이용한다. 제어대상으로는 비선형 운동방정식으로 표현된 F-4 항공기이며 수평미익이나 에일러런의 고장이 발생할 경우에 대하여 제어시스템을 설계하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 성능을 검증한다.

Experimental Study for the Identification of the Nascent Product of OH Heterogeneous Reaction with NaCl using Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry

  • An experimental study on the nascent product of the OH heterogeneous reaction with NaCl was performed under dry and wet conditions using a bead-filled flow tube system coupled to a high-pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometer. The ozone concentration in the flow tube for the atomic hydrogen removal was varied in order to control the conversion reaction of molecular chlorine into HCl for the identification of the nascent product. The mass spectrometric observation was that the $O_3$ introduction reduced the concentration HCl, while it increased the concentration of $Cl_2$ and ClO. Based on the experimental results, we suggest that the nascent product of the titled reaction is gaseous $Cl_2$, which is followed by fast conversion into HCl in presence of H. No significant difference in the concentration profile between under dry and wet (RH = 2%) conditions was observed.
