  • This paper uses the switching function approach to present a simple state model of the Vienna-type rectifier. The approach introduces the relationship between the DC-link neutral point voltage and the AC side phase currents. A novel direct power control (DPC) strategy, which is based on the sliding mode control (SMC) for Vienna I rectifiers, is developed using the proposed power model in the stationary ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ reference frames. The SMC-based DPC methodology directly regulates instantaneous active and reactive powers without transforming to a synchronous rotating coordinate reference frame or a tracking phase angle of grid voltage. Moreover, the required rectifier control voltages are directly calculated by utilizing the non-linear SMC scheme. Theoretically, active and reactive power flows are controlled without ripple or cross coupling. Furthermore, the fixed-switching frequency is obtained by employing the simplified space vector modulation (SVM). SVM solves the complicated designing problem of the AC harmonic filter. The simplified SVM is based on the simplification of the space vector diagram of a three-level converter into that of a two-level converter. The dwelling time calculation and switching sequence selection are easily implemented like those in the conventional two-level rectifier. Replacing the current control loops with power control loops simplifies the system design and enhances the transient performance. The simulation models in MATLAB/Simulink and the digital signal processor-controlled 1.5 kW Vienna-type rectifier are used to verify the fast responses and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Direct torque control based on space vector modulation (SVM-DTC) protects the DTC transient merits. Furthermore, it creates better quality steady-state performance in a wide speed range. The modified method of DTC using SVM improves the electrical magnitudes of asynchronous machines, such as minimizing the stator current distortions, the stator flux with electromagnetic torque without ripple, the fast response of the rotor speed, and the constant switching frequency. In this paper, the proposed method is based on two new control strategies for direct torque control with space vector modulation. First, fuzzy logic control is used instead of the PI torque and a PI flux controller to minimizing the torque error and to achieve a constant switching frequency. The voltages in the direct and quadratic reference frame ($V_d$, $V_q$) are achieved by fuzzy logic control. In this scheme, the switching capability of the inverter is fully utilized, which improves the system performance. Second, the close loop of stator flux estimation based on the voltage model and a low pass filter is used to counteract the drawbacks in the open loop of the stator flux such as the problems saturation and dc drift. The response of this new control strategy is compared with DTC-SVM. The experimental and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control topology outperforms the conventional DTC-SVM in terms of system robustness and eliminating the bad outcome of dc-offset.

  • In this paper, a deadbeat controller design technique is developed for the recently introduced PFC(Power Factor Correction) circuit named as a QBSRR(Quantum Boost Series Resonant Rectifier) to achieve the fast dynamic responses of the output voltage in the presense of any load variations. And, in order to monitor the load information without employing the current sensor, the load estimation method is also derived. By using the information of the load estimation method, the proposed controller gain is automatically adjusted to have the system always keep the very fast dynamic responses. To verify these superior performances, the simulation and the experiment are carried out.

  • By probing nuclear regions and overall properties of AGN hosts as a function of their environments, we aim to observationally examine how AGN activities are related to their surroundings. We have selected eight representative AGN hosts in the Virgo cluster, including seven cluster members (M49, M60, M84, M87, NGC 4435, NGC 4526, NGC 4636) and one galaxy that is likely to be background (NGC 4261) but still close enough to be studied in high resolution. The selected galaxies are located in a range of density regions showing various morphology in 1.4 GHz continuum. High resolution observations with the KVN allow us to access the inner region of the AGN without suffering from dust extinction and synchrotron self-absorption. Since half of our targets are weak to be detected at K-band within its coherence time, we applied phase referencing (fast antenna position switching) to calibrate fast atmospheric phase fluctuations. We successfully detected relatively bright AGNs, such as M87, M84 and NGC4261, but no detection signature was found to the other members of the sample. In this talk, we will present our first results from our KVN observations, while we will discuss in detail the applied technique and our immediate future plans.

  • The Distribution System consist of many tie-line switches and sectionalizing switches, operated a radial type. When an outage occurs in Distribution System, outage areas are isolated by system switches, has to restored as soon as possible. At this time, system operator have to get a information about network topology for service restoration of outage areas. Therefore, the searching result of restorative topology has to fast computation time and reliable result topology for to restore a electric service to outage areas, equal to optimal switching operation problem. So, the problem can be defined as combinatorial optimization problem. The service restoration problem is so important problem which have outage area minimization, outage loss minimization. Many researcher is applying to the service restoration problem with various techniques. In this paper, advanced Dijkstra algorithm is applied to searching a restoration topology, is so efficient to searching a shortest path in graph type network. Additionally, fuzzy rules and operator are applied to overcome a fuzziness of correlation with input data. • In this paper, we designed a frequency synthesizer with a low phase noise and fast lock time and excellent spurious characteristics using the offset-PLL(Phase Locked Loop) that is used in GSM(Global System for Mobile communications). The proposed frequency synthesizer has low phase noise using three times down conversion and third offset frequency of this synthesizer is created by DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) to have high frequency resolution. Also, this synthesizer has fast switching speed using DAC(Digital to Analog Converter). but phase noise degraded due to DAC. we improved performance using the DAC noise filter.

  • In this study, the system which can make the generator's output voltage more stable by using the inverter in terms of PWM method, is designed It is one of the method reducing velocity of the wind in the process of the wind power generation. Thus, in this system, it is necessary to use a excellent current control inverter. So pulse with modulation method with a high-speed switching element is introduced to control the output current. And also, in order to get a fast response when the standard current generated by the vector control algorithm is supplied with the generator, the output control system with the fast response character and the best current control character is suggested. In this way, the result from the introduction of the control system is that a response character to the changable velocity of the wind is excellent, causing the remarkable reduction of the percentage of the harmonic and the outstanding stability of the variation of the output voltage.

  • This paper discribes the design concept, fabrication process and measuring result of 2.5kV Gate Commutated Thyristor devices. Integrated gate commutated thyristors(IGCTs) is the new power semiconductor device used for high power inverter, converter, static var compensator(SVC) etc. Most of the ordinary GTOs(gate turn-off thyristors) are designed as non-punch-through(NPT) concept; i.e. the electric field is reduced to zero within the N-base region. In this paper, we propose transparent anode structure for fast turn-off characteristics. And also, to reach high breakdown voltage, we used 2-stage bevel structure. Bevel angle is very important for high power devices, such as thyristor structure devices. For cathode topology, we designed 430 cathode fingers. Each finger has designed $200{\mu}m$ width and $2600{\mu}m$ length. The breakdown voltage between cathode and anode contact of this fabricated GCT device is 2,715V.
