The subjects were 421 adolescents and measuring instruments consisted of Baekje relics preference items, fashion cultural products purchasing behaviors items, and subject' demographic attributions. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, $x^2$ test, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, adolescents were more likely to prefer crown ornaments of the King Muryong in Kongju region, and gilt-bronze incense burner and halo in Buyeo region. Second, as fashion cultural products, adolescents were more likely to prefer T-shirts and accessory items, and modern image. This study is for the development of fashion cultural products that simultaneously evolved with the contemporary use of traditional temple culture in addition, it analyzed the cultural products available in the Korean market. Methodology, this study conducted a literature review and empirical research. We targeted the cultural products carried at twelve web-based shopping malls for Buddhist cultural products and six souvenir shops in Korean Buddhist temples to collect data on those products in order to analyze the items, design motives, materials, and price ranges. The study results showed that interior items represented the largest portion of the targeted goods, followed by accessories/sundries, clothing/fashion items, stationery, and tableware. The most commonly used design motive was lotuses, followed by the images of Buddha or Buddhist Goddesses and Dharma. The most common materials include fibers, jewelry (such as gold and silver), wood, metals, ceramics, paper, and plastic. The most active price range was between KRW10,000 and KRW50,000, followed by less than KRW10,000 and KRW100,000 to less than KRW500,000. This study discovered the potential for traditional temple culture to advance it further in a contemporary manner and indicated the need to develop a wide variety of cultural products and emphasize its global acceptance.
An empirical study was conducted on fashion cultural products, targeting foreigners from diverse cultures. Its purpose was to identify foreigners' attitudes toward fashion cultural products of which design sources were derived from the Korean culture. The quantitative research using questionnaires was targeted at Americans, Chinese and Japanese who visited Korea. The questionnaires were back-translated into different languages for completion by the test subjects. Out of a total of 424 surveys returned, 393 were deemed usable. As a result of data analyses using SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 5.0, we found that: First, two attitude factors, the authenticity and aesthetic elements, exerted a significant effect on the intent to purchase. However, the last attitude factor, care and carriage convenience, did not significantly influence the purchase intention. Second, there was no significant difference in the attributes regarded as important when purchasing fashion cultural product between people from the U.S. and Japan. However, people from China showed differences in the attributes compared to the U.S. and Japan. Third, we found that attitudes toward fashion cultural products were different among respondents of three countries. In order to develop high value fashion culture products capable of reaching the global market, this study developed the original traditional clothing design of Northeast Asian countries according to a global perspective. This study applied the structural formality of traditional clothing to fashion cultural products. This study developed designs using Deel of Mongolia, Makap of China Korean Dang-ui / Dan-ryung, and Haori of Japan. The research methods are theoretically examined using literature on traditional clothing in Northeast Asia. First, it designed a shirt design using Adobe Illustrator CS6 and created a pattern with the Yuka program as well as applied CLO 5.0 (a 3D virtual dressing system from CLO Virtual Fashion Co.). A survey was also conducted on individual interest for the developed fashion cultural products. The design method obtained various design effects by applying the method of adding point detail parts of the clothes to the shirt that represented each country among their traditional clothes. This research can be used as basic data for the global fashion cultural products market that can contribute to maintaining the originality of each country in the global era, expanding tourism income to succeed and develop culture and tradition.
The purpose of this study was to develop the high-value-added fashion cultural products with Korean image for the enhancement of global competitiveness. For this purpose, theoretical examination of the unique beauty of Korea and Korean image was first performed. Especially, characteristics of Korean traditional botanic patterns were investigated with LOHAS(Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) philosophy which is the focus of the current design trend. Along with the above, the environmentally-friendly digital textile printing technology and Korean traditional botanic patterns were used to produce creative and globally-competitive fashion cultural products. Finally, a series of fashion cultural products were developed such as table runner, table mat and bedclothes.
The purpose of this study was to grasp the utilization of traditional Korean Patterns used for fashion cultural products. To achieve this purpose, this study examined the range of fashion cultural products through literature review, previous researches, and market surveys and analyzed the situation of fashion cultural products and the kinds, expression methods, expression techniques, and repeat styles of utilized patterns. The analysis results are as follows. First, in the use of traditional pattern, the most frequently-used fashion cultural products were small and inexpensive accessories, followed by fashion apparel, miscellaneous goods, and living cultural goods. Second, the most frequently-used traditional patterns were plant patterns, especially flower patterns. The next frequently-used ones were mixed patterns, especially in the mixture of flower and letter patterns, and $cloisonn\'{e}$ and flower patterns. The next frequently-used traditional patterns were animal patterns(especially butterfly patterns), followed by geometric patterns, lucky omen patterns, and letter patterns. In the expression methods of used patterns, most products except handicrafts preferred simplified patterns to real patterns. Finally, in the expression techniques of traditional patterns, the most frequently used technique was traditional embroidery, followed by the use of weaving fabrics such as fine gauze and brocade which are used for Hanbok. Also, transfer dyeing which is one of printing techniques, DTP(digital textiles printing), a mixed technique which adds embroidery to weaving fabrics, hand-painting, and a gilt technique were used. The results of this study suggest that most fashion cultural products except few designers' works attached weight to some specified patterns and expression techniques regardless of the characteristics of products since there is little understanding of a variety of patterns and are few researches and development on expression techniques.
Korea's original traditional costume designs have a great potential to be re-imagined from a global perspective and developed into high-value-added fashion culture products that can enter the international market. This study applied the structural features of traditional clothing to the design of fashion cultural products. This study developed designs using Beja, Sagyusam, Aekjuem-po, Danlyeong, Cheolrik, Jang-jegori of Korea. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to conduct a literature survey of traditional Korean clothing. We designed shirts using Adobe Illustrator and created a pattern with the Yuka program. This design was applied to a three dimensional virtual dressing system called CLO. A survey of individual interest in developed fashion cultural products was also conducted. The shirt designs were obtained by applying the details and structural characteristics of traditional Korean clothing. Among the six shirt designs, when asked which design would be suitable for wearing, gifting, or uniform, the shirts with the design of Danlyeong, Beja, and Sagyusam were generally highly preferred. This study can be used as basic data for the global market for fashion cultural products, and can contribute to the inheritance and development of culture and tradition by maintaining Korea's uniqueness in the modern global era and increasing tourism revenue.
