To reduce the injury by continuous cropping of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.), the farmer's plant and virus-free plant were cultivated with the density of $70{\times}25cm$ (June 10, 2011) in continuous cropping soil (CCS) and subsoiling reversion soil (SRS). Fertilizer was applied at the rates of 55-63-156 $kg\;ha^{-1}$ ($N-P_2O_5-K_2O$) and 10 $ton\;ha^{-1}$ of cattle manure in CCS, and it was applied the 50% increased cattle manure compost and nitrogen in DRS. Symptoms of viral infection were revealed in the farmer's plant at 30 days after planting, but there were no symptoms in virus-free plant. The yield of virus-free plant was more increased 15% and 10.5% than that of farmer's plant in DRS and CCS, respectively. The yield of sweetpotato in SRS was more increased 8.8% and 3.2% in farmer's plant and virus-free plant compared to CCS, respectively. In DRS, the rate of marketable tuber of virus-free plant was increased by 80% compared to the farmer's plant (60.1%). The virus-free plant was produced the tuber with more brilliant peel color and well-formed shape compared to the farmer's plant. The increased yield of virus-free plant and in SRS soil condition showed a positive relationship (p=0.05) with the number of leaf per plant at 30 days and the number of branch per plant at 120 days after planting. The results showed that the early growth after planting was very important for the development of storage root. Therefore, the deep-subsoil reversion and cultivation of virus-free plant could be reduced the injury by continuous cropping of sweet potato, and increased farm income.

Engineering phase of dairy housing systems has close connection with the milk produc- tivity of dairy cattle, the quality of milk, extension of dairy production systems, labor- saving in management of dairy cattle and the like. Moreover, the rate of investment of dairy housing facilities is of relatively high level, However, there has been almost no research effort for the improvement of engineering aspects of dairy housing systems in Korea. The purpose of this study is to find out general engineering problems and to recomm- end the improvement in dairy housing systems in Korea. Field survey by means of questionaire, direct measurements, taking pictures and sketching was conducted to get necessary information for the study. Kyung-ki Do region was firstly chosen for sampling area since it has included more than half of the number of dairy farms of the whole country. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. In overall dairy farm layout, the dwellings of workers were ignored in the light of sanitary environment 2. The layout of stalls in a dairy barn belongs mostly to the type of double-row face-out, which is compatible with the emphasis of manure disposal activities. 3. While the width and length of stalls were sufficiently close to the standard dimension, the width of mangers was much less than the standard dimension. 4. The width and depth of manure gutters and the width of working alleys were much. less than the standard dimension. 5. The mooring equipment was mostly in the classes of chain or rope. The watering equipment was not facilitated independantly except the one cese of using watercup. 6. The bucket milkers with one or two bucket milkers with the capacity of two cattles. each were used as milking equipment in most dairy farms. 7. There were only few milk rooms independently spaced from other space, in which the arrangement of milking equipment was much less than the standard condition. 8. The lounging ground area was averaged to be sufficient for the activity of dairy herd. 9. Silos for silage used during winter consisted of mostly bunker silos, trench silos and underground vertical silos. Ordinary vertical silos were considered for the farmers to be inconvenient for the labor saving. 10. From the view point of heat conservation and moisture removal within the dairy barns, windows were not flexible for the easy ventilation and ceiling part was not adequate for temperatur maintenance. 11. Waste treatment and disposal systems were not provided with most dairy farms, therefore the livestock waste pollution problems would be serious in the near future.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the efficiency and compatibility of the coagulation and settling processes of leachates from the compost of two swine farms. And results obtained are as follows : 1 In the farm A where $COD_{Cr}$, $COD_{Mn}$ and $BOD_5$ of original leachate were 4,400, 2,950 and 87mg/l, respectively, the rate of coagulation and settling process was more efficient in the leachate treated with the conjugate of Alum and cation polymer than that of Alum and anion polymer. The concentrations of BOD$_{5}$, T-N and T-P of the effluent after treatment with the conjugate of Alum and cation polymer under the optimum condition were 19, 257.5 and 0.4mg/l, respectively which are under the governmental regulation level. 2. In the farm B where $COD_{Cr}$, $COD_{Mn}$ and $BOD_5$ of original leachate were 4,720, 3,040 and 95mg/l, respectively, the conjugate of $FeCl_3$, 1,500mg/l and cation polymer 10mg/l ($FeCl_3$+FO4240) was most effective coagulation and settling agent compared with the others. The concentrations of BOD$_{5}$, T-N and T-P of the effluent after treatment with $FeCl_3$+FO4240 were 15.3, 829.4 and 2.8mg/l, respectively. And the concentration of T-N was higher than the governmental regulation level, presumably because of too high concentration of NH$_4$$^{+}$-N in the leachate.
A self-propelled turner was developed to produce mushroom compost at low costs and high efficiency, and the uniformity of compost produced by an excavator, compost mixer, and self-propelled turner was compared. The material of the compost was mixed with rice straw and chicken manure at a dry weight ratio of 3:1. After the final turning, internal temperature distribution, water content of the compost pile, ash ratio, and uniformity of the compost pile were examined. After the compost was completed, the water content was $69.9{\pm}0.54%$, $72.1{\pm}0.15%$, and $74.5{\pm}0.82%$, respectively. The length of rice straw was $47.5{\pm}15.4cm$, $24.9{\pm}10.1cm$, and $31.0{\pm}10.6cm$, respectively. The ash content in the dry weight of each compost was $25.0{\pm}6.2%$, $33.6{\pm}4.2%$, and $28.2{\pm}1.1%$, respectively. The deviation in the length of rice straw was affected by the linear velocity of the spinner in the compost mixer and the self-propelled turner, which were 21.5 m/sec and 9 m/sec, respectively. As a result, the most uniform mushroom compost was produced by the self-propelled turner.

This study analyzed the priorities of the cross-compliance items of public-benefit direct payment using an Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Decision Making Analysis. The valuation criteria are policy efficiency, farm acceptability, and feasibility, and the valuation targets are the basic and additional cross-compliance items. The survey was performed by targeting 50 experts from each class, and conducted for about a month starting from the beginning of July 2019. The results show that the weight of the valuation criteria is higher in the order of farm acceptability, feasibility, and policy efficiency. Compliance with PLS standards, compliance with disposal standards of waste vinyl and pesticides, soil testing, compliance with toxic substance standards, education, etc. are comparatively evaluated to be higher cross-compliance items in basic cross-compliance. Disposing of an abandoned well, jointly collecting and disposing of agricultural by-products, common area care and cleaning, maintenance of empty houses and poor facilities, growing green manure crops during the fallow period, etc. are comparatively evaluated to be higher cross-compliance items for the additional cross-compliance. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the government's policy related to the cross-compliance of public-benefit direct payment.

This study was cnducted ton investigate the effect of soil conditioner such as dolomite, slkudge and organic manure on changes of soil chemical properties of abandoned zinc mine area. Growth responses of Chrysanthemum azwadskii and Caryopteris incana (Tunb) Miq affected by the appication were also determined. In thejsoil of abandoned zinz mine area, total heavy metal contents espectially Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn were high and organic matter contents was low. Application of sludge for phytoremediation resulted in higher soil organic content that other treatments tested. Heavy metal concentrations after application of soil conditioners were not different among treatments. The growth of C. zawadskii and C. incana (Tunb) Miq were significantly higher in sludge treatment than those in other treatments The cholrophyll content, chlorophyll flouorescence, protein content, photosynthetic rate and transpiration were high in sludge treatment. The heavy metal contents of C. zawadskii were the lowest in sludge treatment while those of C. incana (Tunb) Miq was the highest in sludge treatment.
The aim of this study was to apply the new agricultural technique developed for three years($'96{\sim}'98$) by demonstration at an model farm of environmental agriculture located in Bangsan-ri, Dagang-myun, Namwon-city. Rice growth of environmental farming plot, which supplied with oil cake and compost fermented with chicken manure was reduced compared to that of conventional farming plot, which supplied with chemical fertilizers. Weed control by using of Ampullarius insularus in the rice paddy field was effective compared to that of control, which treated with chemical herbicide twice. The yield of rice was decreased of 35% in both environmental and eclectic farming polt compared to that of conventional farming plot. The water quality of environmental not and eclectic farming plot were good compared to conventional farming plot. Density of water flea was high in environmental and eclectic farming plot compared to that of the conventional farming plot.
In Japan, since rice consumption has been decreasing with the westernization of Japanese eating habits, surplus paddy fields have been increasing. If these surplus paddy fields can be utilized for forage rice production as feed for animal production and excretions (feces and urine) from animal production can be applied to the paddy fields as manure, then the problems of surplus paddy fields and excretions from animal production may be solved, and the environment kept sustainable. The objectives of the present study were to apply a bio-economic model to dairy and forage rice integration systems in Japan and to examine the merit of introducing whole crop rice silage (WCRS), as well as economic and environmental effects of various economic and management options in the systems. Five simulations were conducted using this model. The use of WCRS as a home-grown feed increased environmental loads and decreased economic benefit because of the higher amount of purchased feed, when compared to the use of typical crops such as maize, alfalfa and timothy silage (simulation 1). Higher economic benefits from higher forage rice yields and higher milk production of a dairy cow were obtained (simulations 2, 3). There were no economic and environmental incentives for utilizing crude protein (CP) rich WCRS, because an increase in the CP content in WCRS led to the use of more chemical fertilizers, resulting in high production costs and nitrogen outputs (simulation 4). When evaluated under the situation of a fixed herd size, increasing forage rice yields decreased the total benefit of the production, in spite of the fact that the amount of subsidies per unit of land increased (simulation 5). It was indicated that excess subsidy support may not promote yield of forage rice. It was, however, observed in most cases that dairy and forage rice integration systems could not be economically established without subsidies.
The present study suggests a concept of resources circulation type agriculture and a concept of a livestock zone related to it and evaluated economical efficiency about a possibility of the resources circulation type livestock zone based on the concept. As a result, when the resources circulation type livestock zone is operated in an area of 1,300ha, it was evaluated that the profit of 11,244 hundred thousand won per year is generated, compared to the conventional agriculture. When light and heat expenses and roughage of Hanwoo production, production of TMR forage as well as income of the energy and composting business of livestock manure at the recycling center were considered in addition to that, it was judged that the present zone development bushiness has enough business feasibility. However, it is necessary that the support regulations, etc. is constructed so that all produced compost byproducts are used at farmhouses and the system related to facility investment assurance and assistance of operating expenses is maintained. It is thought that the complement of a system is also necessary so that energy or power generation expenses can be operated in the same conditions as other new & renewable energy, and the nation's purchase of carbon credits(CDM) is investigated and systemized in the early period, and construction of a revitalization plan of the business through budget securing of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry related to the trade of CDM and carbon emission rights is also a business that should be urgently developed. In the future, the change of an outside environment will further promote use of the energy. Also, as people, who don't know agriculture. farm village, increase day by day because of population concentration in a city, an opportunity that can new added value through experience tourism or educational programs utilizing them is increasing. Accordingly, if programs utilizing social characteristics, such as utilization as a space of tourism. leisure. experience, system construction of bio-energy and system construction that Micro Grid or Smart Grid as a dispersed storage and generation system is stabilized, are constructed, it can be said that revitalization or success conditions of the zone is further achieved.
Korean organic farming has been well developed over the last two decades. It demonstrates that the number of certificated farm for organic agriculture and products have been drastically increased in recent year. However, the organic farmers have thought that organic farming rely only on organic fertilizer and they don't keep organic farming principle in which organic farmer should enhance biological activity and crop rotation. This study was to compare nutrient input, recommendation, cropping system and organic product circulation between the early $20^{th}$ century and beginning of the $21^{st}$ century. The population of Korea has increased 7.3 times more than that of a century ago but cultivated land has been decreased during 100 years. The rice production in 2002 was 4.2 times higher than that of production in 1912. The input of N, P and K in 1907 on the basis of King's suggestion was 95.6kg/ha, 15.9kg/ha and 3.0kg/ha, respectively. Nitrogen came from excreta (40%), green manure (55%) and compost (5%) in the early 20th century. On the other hand, organic farmer input organic resources such as wood chip (30.1%), compost (27.8%), rice straw (14%) and others (25%) these days. In terms of nutrient balance calculated nutrient and absorption by plants, organic rice farmer apply excessive nitrogen and phosphorus to the soil. They was used to put $7{\sim}10$ times more nitrogen than that of a century ago. Nutrient recommendation was similar in N and P between early 20th century and early $21^{st}$ century. Farmers in both century did not rotate crops in the field. Today, organic farmers engaged in more continuous cultivation than in early 20th century. Farmers in the early $20^{th}$ century produced locally, consumed locally the agricultural products, but organic farmers in the $21^{st}$ century produce the organic product in the local farmland and consumed in the large city and also a lot of foreign organic products have been imported in recent year.
