A Study on the Importance-Performance Analysis of Farm Party Participants (팜파티 속성에 대한 중요도-만족도 분석(IPA) 연구)

  • This study conducted IPA of each item related to the farm party operation aiming at the participants to farm parties. The survey was carried out on the participants to the farm parties held in Damyang County from October 11th to November 22nd, 2014, and 103 questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The specific results of the IPA are as follows. In the first quarter of 'maintenance and management performance' are included the total of seven items. They are a harmonious view with the surrounding environment, friendliness of the farmer and the party staff, posting the event schedule and providing the program, proper disposition of the staff in the farm, an exchange among farm party participants, food that makes use of farm produce and the convenience of gaining information. In the second quarter of 'intensive improvement' are included eight items. They are cleanliness of the facilities such as restroom and basin, providing the pamphlets or promotion materials of the farms in the farm party, things to experience utilizing the farm produce grown in the host farm, various events, smooth progress of the farm party program, inclusion of the indigenous native food, variety of things to buy including farm produce and information delivery about the farm produce on sale.

Examining the Effect of Cognitive and Affective Images of a Farm Party Venue on Consumer Satisfaction and Revisit Intention (팜파티 농가에 대한 인지적 이미지와 정서적 이미지가 소비자 만족, 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of cognitive and affective images of a farm party venue on consumer satisfaction and revisit intention with a research model and hypothesis test. First, the cognitive and affective images of a farm party venue had a significant effect on consumer satisfaction in the test and the cognitive image had greater impact on consumer satisfaction than the affective image had. Second, consumer satisfaction had a significant effect on the revisit intention in the test, which indicates that farm party venues are required to find a way to boost the satisfaction of tourists in order to encourage their intentions to revisit. In order to revitalize rural tourism through farm party and raise income in rural areas, it is most important that farm party venue produce images that are differentiated from other farmhouses. In order to activate the farm party for the 6th industry, it will be possible to establish images of the farmers and utilize them in promotional marketing for the promotion of rural tourism. The present study is limited in that it did not collect feedback from farm party operators in action. With this in mind, another study is planned, focusing on those farm party operators.

The Effect of Service Quality of Farm Party on Cognitive and Emotional Images of the Farmhouse and Revisit Intention (팜파티 서비스 품질이 팜파티 농가의 인지적 이미지와 정서적 이미지, 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to investigate how the service quality of a farm party affects the cognitive and emotional images of the farmhouse and revisit intentions by designing a research model and testing hypotheses. First, findings of the test show that when it comes to service quality, the physical environment and program contents of farm party have an effect on the cognitive image of the farmhouse while the qualification of party operators does not. Second, the physical environment of the party and party operator's qualification affect the emotional image but the program contents has no effect. Third, The cognitive and emotional images have an effect on the revisit intentions. It is certain that the farm party serves as cultural contents facilitating the rural economy and an emerging business model in the rural tourism. When we approach the farm party as a business model to provide service, not cultural contents as party, however, farmhouses may build a positive image as a new tourist destination and also see their economy facilitated. This study looks into Seoul and Gyeonggi areas and thus is geographically limited and does not cover national phenomenon.

  • Farm succession in the next generation has profound implications for the future structure of the agricultural industry and the procurement of agricultural human resources. Therefore, this study sought to suggest the policy directions for farm succession through investigating the foreign policies and comparing it with Korean policies. The followings were derived from the comparison analysis. First, support is required in establishing master plans for farm succession from operators to successors. Second, it is needed to develop and disseminate effective model for farm succession. Third, an assistance policy for farm households without successors should be initiated. Fourth, the fragmentation of farmland ownership should be counteracted.

Contract Farming of Raw Cabbage for Making Kimchi, Led by Local Traders of Agricultural Produce, and Changes Brought to the Agriculture of the Contract Area (산지유통인이 주도하는 김치제조용 원료배추의 계약생산과 계약지역의 농업 변화)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the role of each party in relation to the contract farming of cabbage which is taking place under the contract between the local trader of agricultural produce that supplies raw cabbage to company "D," a manufacturer of kimchi, and the cabbage farm where the cabbage is grown, and to describe the changes brought by the contract farming to the agriculture of the contract area. As a result of the study, it was discovered that, while the farming of cabbage in the contract area used to be led by farmers, it is now increasingly being controlled by the local traders of agricultural produce. First, as the key player in the decision-making related to the cabbage farming in the main cabbage producing areas, local traders of agricultural produce are replacing the role of farmers by supervising the entire production process and controlling the overall cabbage farming in the contract area. Second, in the main cabbage producing areas, local traders of agricultural produce are becoming a key farming entity by carrying out functions that are comparable to those of farmers and playing a major role in the second half of the agricultural work at the farms in the contract area. This can be considered as the result of the balance between the demands of the local traders of agricultural produce who need to secure contract volume and manage the quality of their produce and the demands of the farmers in key cabbage producing areas who are facing difficulties due to the increase in the number of elderly farmers and a shortage of manpower.
