Peculiarities of ReBaCuO superconductor preparation

  • From 1994 the cooperation between NEU of China and MJU of South Korea for study of ReBaCuO (Re=Rare earth elements) superconductors has been carried out. The progress has been got in following projects. Critical current density ($J_c$) of YBaCuO superconductor prepared by Melting Textured Growth (MTG) was improved. In the preparation of textured YBaCuO, 20 wt.% of YBaCuO 211 phase was added, which would be climactic for the microcracks in the textured YBaCuO. The effects of the 211 phase and Ag content on the superconductivity were studied and discussed in detail. The improved $J_c$ value was reached to 8$\times$10^4 A/cm^2 (77K,0T). Single phase $YbBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ superconductor was sintered by the traditional powder metallurgical method, and its reaction process was studied. In recent years, NdBaCuO superconductor is being performed. The behavior of $Nd_{4}Ba_{2}Cu_{2}O_{10}$(Nd422 phase) and the solid solubility, x in the superconductor $Nd_{1+x}Ba_{2-x}Cu_{3}O_{y}$ by the heat treatment in the low oxygen partial pressure (1%) or Ar at $950{\circ}C$ were investigated. The zone-melting process was used to make oriented NdBaCuO superconductor in order to increase the critical current density.

미활용 에너지원으로서의 지하철 배열이용에 관한 연구 (Research on using the exhausted heat from subway tunnel as unused energy)

  • Researches on unused energy are being continued because of the limited fossil fuel and the destruction of environment. Therefore this study was peformed as follows. The collectable amount of exhausted heat for an air-conditioning was calculated by the subway thermal environment prediction program. And the electric power needed by conventional heat source equipments was compared with one by unused heat source equipments when the exhausted heat was used by heat pump in heating and hot water supplying. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Forced ventilation should be conducted to keep optimal temperature in subway tunnel in summer as well as in winter. According to the simulation, temperature in tunnel was higher than that on the ground in summer when the forced ventilation was conducted only in winter. 2) Ventilating time should be calculated out to the optimal condition for not only saving power of ventilation fan but reusing exhausted heat. By the simulation, it is certain that the exhausted heat should be eliminated in air-conditioning time. 3) The use of exhausted heat source heat pump could save 8% of electric power per hour in comparison with existing heat pump. It was based on a present heat generation and traffic for ventilating time of general air-conditioning, but could be different by ventilating time. 4) As the traffic increases up to 1.5 or 2 times, electric power consumption of the conventional heat pump increases to 11% or 13.5% per mean hour in comparison with that of the exhausted heat source heat pump, though all-day ventilation.

Simulation of an X-ray Fresnel Zone Plate with Nonideal Factors

  • Fresnel zone plates have been widely used in many applications, such as x-ray telescopes, microfluorescence, and microimaging. To obtain an x-ray Fresnel zone plate, many fabrication methods, such as electron-beam etching, ion-beam etching and chemical etching, have been developed. Fresnel zone plates fabricated by these methods will inevitably lead to some nonideal factors, which have an impact on the focusing characteristics of the zone plate. In this paper, the influences of these nonideal factors on the focusing characteristics of the zone plate are studied systematically, by numerical simulations based on scalar diffraction theory. The influence of the thickness of a Fresnel zone plate on the absolute focusing efficiency is calculated for a given incident x-ray's wavelength. The diffraction efficiency and size of the focal spot are calculated for different incline angles of the groove. The simulations of zone plates without struts, with regular struts, and with random struts are carried out, to study the effects of struts on the focusing characteristics of a zone plate. When a Fresnel zone plate is used to focus an ultrashort x-ray pulse, the effect of zone-plate structure on the final pulse duration is also discussed.

Crystal Structure, Fluorescence Property and Theoretical Calculation of the Zn(II) Complex with o-Aminobenzoic Acid and 1,10-Phenanthroline

  • A novel complex [$Zn(phen)(o-AB)_2$] [phen: 1,10-phenanthroline o-AB: o-aminobenzoic acid] was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction single-crystal analysis. The crystal crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c with $a=7.6397(6){\AA}$, $b=16.8761(18){\AA}$, $c=17.7713(19){\AA}$, ${\alpha}=90^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=98.9570(10)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}=90^{\circ}$, $V=2.2633(4)nm^3$, Z = 4, F(000) = 1064, S = 1.058, $Dc=1.520g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, $R_1=0.0412$, $wR_2=0.0948$, ${\mu}=1.128mm^{-1}$. The Zn(II) is six coordinated by two nitrogen and four oxygen atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline and o-aminobenzoic acid to furnish a distorted octahedron geometry. The complex exhibits intense fluorescence at room temperature. Theoretical studies of the title complex were carried out by density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP method. CCDC: 898291.

통풍에 의한 휘발성 유기화합물의 실내 거동 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Behavior Characteristics of Volatile Organic Compound Caused by Ventilation in a Room)

  • Recently, volatile organic compound(VOC) has been noted as a main cause of air pollution. VOC, with its toxic and offensive odor, is hazardous to health. Furthermore indoor, underground and hish-rise buildings are preferable living spaces. People spend more than 80% of the day indoor, so indoor air pollution is a matter of importance. In Korea, from 2004, 10 types of indoor pollutants in public facilities have been identified. However, there is no standard for individual VOC, so the regulation has not yet effectively been carried out. In this study, we have studied on the diffusion of Benzene in a room using a numerical analysis for various air-controlled conditions consisted of door, window and ventilation system. This study investigates spatial concentration distribution and time-history of room-averaged benzene concentration for several cases. The results of this study show that when the room is ventilated by a small fan only for 30 minutes, the average concentration of benzene is decreased a very little, thus the impact to human body would be serious compared to the case of natural ventilation by window and door, In the case of natural ventilation by window and door, if the wind speed is higher than 0.5m/s, it takes small than 4 minutes for benzene to spread to the target concentration of $1.2mg/m^3$.

  • This paper presents numerical analysis and design optimization of various turbine blade cooling techniques with three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) analysis. The fluid flow and heat transfer have been performed using ANSYS-CFX 11.0. A fan-shaped hole for film-cooling has been carried out to improve film-cooling effectiveness with the radial basis neural network method. The injection angle of hole, lateral expansion angle of hole and ratio of length-to-diameter of the hole are chosen as design variables and spatially averaged film-cooling effectiveness is considered as an objective function which is to be maximized. The impingement jet cooling has been performed to investigate heat transfer characteristic with geometry variables. Distance between jet nozzle exit and impingement plate, inclination of nozzle and aspect ratio of nozzle hole are considered as geometry variables. The area averaged Nusselt number is evaluated each geometry variables. A rotating rectangular channel with staggered array pin-fins has been investigated to increase heat transfer performance ad to decrease friction loss using KRG modeling. Two non-dimensional variables, the ratio of the eight diameter of the pin-fins and ratio of the spacing between the pin-fins to diameter of the pin-fins selected as design variables. A rotating rectangular channel with staggered dimples on opposite walls are formulated numerically to enhance heat transfer performance. The ratio of the dimple depth and dimple diameter are selected as geometry variables.

  • 본 연구에서는 상호작용상류의 난류경계층에 분출을 가해서 경계층을 불안정 화시키고 이 불안정화된 난류경계층과 사각입사충격파와의 상호작용을 실험적으로 연 구하였다. Squire-Smith와는 다른 실험모형의 새로운 형태를 제시하였고 상호작용영 역에서 경계층의 압력분포 및 속도분포를 측정해서 충격파반사의 형태를 밝혔다.

  • In the design of an electric power plant, the capacity to meet the peak load demand is one of the important factors to be considered. This peak load usually occurs when the most of the cooling air conditioning systems are being operated during daytime in summer season, which inevitably entails the construction of an additional electric power plant. This study is aimed to carry out a basic experiment for the development of a cooling air conditioning system using the ice energy by the surplus electric power during the night-time. The experimental apparatus consists of four major parts; (1) the heating section consisting of the air duct and I.D. fan, (2) the cold section with the ice chamber, (3) the bundle of heat pipes made in a form of the staggered arrangement with ${C_y}/{d_o}$=2.0 and ${C_x}/{d_o}$=1.73, (4) the refrigerator system to cool down the ice chamber. This study involves an intensive experiment concerning the convective heat transfer of the air flow surrounding the bundle of heat pipes. This major experimental parameters are the amount of working fluid, the velocity of air and the working temperature. The major findings of the present study are as follows; (1) The optimum amount of the working fluid necessary for the horizontal heat pipes is much more than that for the vertical type. (2) The convective heat transfer coefficients of the air are coincided with the empirical equations of Grimson and ${\breve{Z}ukauskas}$. (3) The equation of the mean heat transfer coefficient obtained in the present study is ${N_um}=0.32 {Re_max^{0.63}}$.

SIMULINK를 이용한 2-스풀 분리형 배기방식 터보팬 엔진의 구성품 성능맵 생성 및 성능모사에 관한 연구 (Study on Component Map Generation and Performance Simulation of 2-spool Separate Flow Type Turbofan Engine Using SIMULINK)

  • 본 연구에서는 중형 항공기의 추진 기관인 2 스풀 분리-배기 형식 터보팬 엔진 (BR715-56)의 성능 해석을 수행하기 위하여 상용코드인 MATLAB/SIMULINK를 이용하여 성능모델을 구성하였으며 유량 및 일 조합에 새로운 조합 서브시스템 블록을 새로이 개발하였다. 성능 모사는 먼저 팬, 고압압축기, 고압터빈, 저압터빈 구성품 성능 맵들을 축척방법을 이용하여 유사성능 맵들로 부터 생성하였고, 다음은 탈설계점 성능 해석을 할 수 있도록 구성품들 간 유량과 일 조합이 이루어 질수 있도록 하였다. 제안된 SIMULINK 성능모델은 정상 및 동적 모사와 사용자 편의의 장점을 가지고 있으며, 다양한 작동 조건들에서 개발된 프로그램을 이용한 탈설계점 해석 결과들이 GASTURB에 의한 해석 결과들과 잘 일치함이 확인 되었다.

대형 컨테이너선의 배기가스 역류 개선 방안 연구 (Prevention of Exhaust Gas Back Flow in Large Container Carriers)

  • Prevention of exhaust gas back flow becomes a great interest to shipyards and shipowners in large container carriers because exhaust gas pollutes cargoes, flows back into the deck house and the engine room area through fresh air intakes and fan rooms, gives harmful damages to the crew's health and also gives thermal damages to electric equipments on the navigation deck. The phenomena of exhaust gas back flow has been studied with the analysis of sea trial records and wind tunnel tests and the height of the exhaust gas pipe, the front area of the deck house, the inflow speed and the position of the radar mast platform has been confirmed as the principal factors of exhaust gas back flow phenomena. The simple empirical formula to estimate exhaust gas back flow phenomena and the design guidances of exhaust gas related structures on deck has been introduced. In future, parametric studies for the exhaust gas back flow factors will be carried out with the CFD analysis. The results of this study will be the guide for development of the prevention method of exhaust gas back flow phenomena for large container carriers.
