  • Energy saving electric fan heater that uses driving part as heating part is different from general fan heater. As it uses energy that drives rotor and generate heat at the same coil. it is simpler and cheaper than fan heater. In this study, shaded-pole motor that is low cost and simple in spite of low efficiency was used for th fan heater.

Investigation of Heating Performance of Kerosene Fan Heater (석유 홴 히터의 난방 능력 고찰)

  • In this paper, we investigated the heating performance and the basic characteristics required for normal combustion of kerosene fan heater. And also the iso-velocity contours and the iso-temperature contours of hot gas discharged from the exit of kerosene fan heater were analyzed. The experiment was carried out with kerosene fan heater attached to the blow-down-type subsonic wind tunnel with a test section of $240mm{\times}240mm{\times}1200mm$. The purpose of this paper was to obtain the basic data for new design from conventional kerosene fan heater. Consequently it was found that (i) the pressure ratio $P_2/P_1$ had a comparatively constant value of 0.844 according to the increase of the revolution of turbo fan, (ii) the primary excess air ratio had a range of $0.84{\sim}1.11$ during normal combustion, and (iii) the heating performance of kerosene fan heater had a range of $1,494{\sim}3,852kcal/hr$.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the structural stability of hybrid type fan heater. The evaluation of structural safety of hybrid fan heater was conducted by using Ansys Workbench and CFX-11 under the design condition. The hybrid fan heater was operated by heat transfer for heat source supplied from electric heater and combustion gas. According to result of structural analysis, the maximum equivalent stress of hybrid fan heater was 150MPa when the temperature of heat transfer fluids was $150^{\circ}C$. It was found that the hybrid fan was structurally safe because the value of maximum equivalent stress was smaller than that of yield stress of the material.

  • This paper was studied to understand the characteristics of heat transfer coefficients and surface temperature distributions around a circular combustion chamber within the heat-intercept duct of kerosene fan heater. The experiment was carried out in the heat-intercept duct of kerosene fan heater attached to the blow-down-type subsonic wind tunnel with a test section of 240 mm * 240 mm * 1200 mm. The purpose of this paper was to obtain the basic data related with normal combustion for new design from conventional kerosene fan heater, and to investigate the effect of surface temperature, local and mean heat transfer coefficients versus flow-rate of convection axial fan according to the variations of heat release conditions from kerosene fan heater during normal combustion. Consequently it was found that (i) the revolution of convection axial fan during combustion had a smaller value than that of non-combustion because of the thermal resistance due to the high temperature in the heat-intercept duct, (ii) the pressure ratio P$_{2}$/P$_{1}$ had a comparatively constant value of 0.844 according to the revolution increase of turbo fan and the heating performance of kerosene fan heater had a range of 1,494 ~ 3,852 kcal/hr, (iii) the local heat transfer coefficient around a circular combustion chamber had a comparatively larger scale in the range of 315 deg. < .theta. < 45 deg. than that in the range of 90 deg. < .theta. < 270 deg. as a result of heat transfer difference between front and back of a circular combustion chamber, and (iv) the mean heat transfer coefficient around a circular combustion chamber increased linearly like a H$_{m}$=95.196Q+104.019 in condition of high heat release according to the increase of flow-rate of axial fan.n.

  • A proposed the electrical fan heater using induction heating is innovative system which applied IH(Induction Heating) magnetic induction heating generated from induction-heated metallic package and high-frequency power circuit technique for thermal converse technique. In this occurs not burning, so that the working environment and deterioration of products can be improved. The existing heater that low efficiency by heated resistance or using fossil fuel of coal, diesel, kerosene has problems about burden for high cost price. In this paper are compared efficiency the existing heaters and designed electrical fan heaters using 3[kW]-Class full-bridge resonant inverter. In addition, action analysis and application of system are discussed.

  • This study is concerned with the emission characteristics of kerosene fan heater, which is burned with kerosene and water droplets simultaneously in the burner, in order to prohibit the emissions of harmful exhaust gas and reduce smell caused by incomplete combustion, and the addition of water droplets to the conventional kerosene fan heater was performed by ultrasonic atomizer. For the investigation of this study, the measurement of exhaust gas components and exhaust gas temperature was carried out by using an automatic combustion gas analyser and $NO_x$ analyser, and the measurement of consumption weight of oil and water was obtained by using electric digital balance. Consequently, according as the water percent weight ratio of about $21{\sim}23%$ was supplied for this study, it was found that the combustion-generated $NO_x$ and CO emissions were reduced very largely, but the emissions of $O_2\;and\;CO_2$ and the temperature of exhaust gas were not changed.

  • As the Eco-energy is recently required, electrical energy is fast increased. Several induction heating methods are attractive for Eco-energy and energy saving. In this paper, electrical fan heater was designed and developed with new concept for energy saving by electromagnetic induction heating. Proposed system was composed of three module, blast part, induction heating part and power transformation part. Induction heating method was adapted for heating and the resonant inverter was used for increasing of the power transformation efficiency. Full-bridge resonant inverter was adopted to resonant inverter. This system was composed of induction heating part made with metal(SUS 40 series), and power transformation part made with rectifier module, filter module and resonant inverter. From these results, the proposed new electric heater could be saved the energy from faster increasing the temperature compared to commercial gas and other electric heater. This electrical fan heater is possible to be used in field of home, commercial and agricultural area for eco-energy saving heater.

  • Air and flue gas temperature distributions in the space heater for greenhouse were measured to develop a thermal design technology for the space heater. Also, the characteristics of the fan supplying air to the space heater were investigated. The temperature of the flue gas inside the flue gas tube was linearly decreased as the lenght of than those of the flue gas with the oxygen concentration of 8.25% at the last exit of the second flue gas tube. Thus, the operating efficiency of the space heater could be increased with low air ratio decreased exhausting gas temperature and saved the energy consumption with decreased excess air flow. The temperature of the air supplied by fan was increased slowly around the first flue gas tube, meanwhile, increased sharply around the second flue gas tube due to large LMTD (Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference) at the first flue gas tube than which of the second flue gas tube.

  • There are lots of disturbance in the super heater temperature control system of power plant boiler as follows. 1.Burner light off. 2.Excess Air. 3.Burner tilt. 4.G.R fan flow. Temperature control system of super heater in the power plant has delay time about 5 min. So it is difficult to control the super heater temperature in the power plant. This paper show us the application of domestic development DCS to control the super heater temperature in seoul #5 thermal power plant unit.
