PURPOSE: This study seeks to examine the awareness and need of home visiting physical therapy among physical therapist in Gwangju and Jeonnam province. METHODS: Survey was conducted during the continuing education on physical therapist held in Gwangju in 2015 with 297 participants. The survey questionnaire consisted of 12 questions on the characteristics of physical therapists, 8 questions regarding the awareness of home visiting physical therapy, and 7 questions on need. RESULTS: Significant differences were found regarding service period, according to categories of the inconvenience associated with commuting to/from hospitals, long-term treatment for patients, high quality treatment with intensive care, treatment at a time of patients' choosing. The category of hospital fees reduced due to early discharge from the hospital also saw significant differences, depending on respondents' marital status, dependent family, and service period. Providing treatment without causing discomfort to patients in front of others also saw significant differences according to physical therapist career period. Home visiting physical therapy is easier for family members to take care of patients also saw significant differences according to education and physical therapist career period. CONCLUSION: Survey indicates that physical therapist province feel the need for home visiting physical therapy in many respects. However, since as many as half of the surveyed physical therapists have only heard of home visiting physical therapy or are have no awareness of the this form of treatment, it appears that there is a need to raise awareness of home visiting physical therapy among physical therapist and introduce appropriate policies.

Background and objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects and preferences of horticultural therapy programs for stress relief according to MBTI personality types (Judging and Perceiving types) of female undergraduate students. Methods: The participants were divided into 15 Judging and 15 Perceiving types based on lifestyle preferences of the MBTI personality test, and a total of 30 participants participated in the horticultural therapy programs for 6 sessions. Results: Both Judging and Perceiving types showed a significant decrease in stress after participating in the horticultural therapy programs. Among the 8 life stress subfactors, Judging types showed significant stress relieving effects in 5 subfactors (relationship with the opposite sex, relationship with family, economic problems, future problems, value problems), while Perceiving types showed stress relieving effects in only 3 subfactors (relationship with family, economic problems, future problems). However, the changes in stress relief of 8 subfactors were not significantly different between the two personality types. The most preferred program for the Judging types was 'Making a flower basket', while the most preferred ones for the Perceiving types were 'Planting monstera', and 'Making preserved lemons with marigold', suggesting that the preferences varied depending on personality types. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to develop suitable horticultural therapy programs for different subjects based on their personality types to enhance the effect of the programs on the subjects.
For the purpose of clarifying to what degree the mothers of developmentally delayed children are involved in treating their child at home. 193 mothers were sampled from 220 mothers of developmentally delayed children below 12 years of age who have visited one of four institutions: the Rehabilitation Hospital of Yonsei Medical Center, Inchon Severance Hospital, Disabled Welfare Center in Myongil-dong, and Nambu Disabled Welfare Hall. The study period was from Mar. 25, 1995 through Apr. 15, 1995. A questionnaire survey was conducted listing the characteristics of the developmentally delayed children, their mothers, mother's satisfaction with their therapists, and the actual conditions of the home treatment. 1. The mothers who treat their child at home for more than 31 minutes a day show a high involvement score, while the mothers of those who give treatment for less than 30 minutes a. day show a low involvement score. That is, the longer the treatment, the greater the involvement score. This indicates a statistically significant result(p<0.01). 2. In cases where a child's father is involved in the home treatment, his/her mother discloses a statistically high involvement score(p<0.001). 3. The result of analysis of cases where other family members, relatives or friends (fathers excepted) reveals a statistically significant high involvement score(p<0.05) for the mother. 4. Mothers in general represent a statistically significant high involvement in home treatment. In the meantime, the mothers in a nuclear family show a higher involvement home treatment than mothers in an extended family(p<0.01). 5. Among those respondents who think that home treatment is helpful and that mothers' involvement in home treatment is helpful, the mothers record a statistically significant high involvement score(p<0.05). When seen from the above perspectives, it seems of much significance that fathers and other relatives or family members play an important role in enhancing the involvement of mothers in home treatment. One point to note here is that providing a long home treatment time is crucial. Therefore, it is recommended that family members have access to rehabilitation treatment for training developmentally delayed children or their care giver; and moreover, we needed to carry out family training or at least arrange for meetings between the family members and medical personnel involved in the child's rehabilitation.
Objectives : Jeon-Jeung(癲證) is one of negative symptoms from schizophrenia in Western medecine, which causes flattening of affect, emotional bluntness, and avolition. Compared with positive symptoms of schizophrenia, there is no established treatments that have been proved to be effective for negative symptoms, and since negative symptoms are chronically processed, they finally lead to devastate the mental health. Since Jeon-Jeung(癲證) is usually in set in adolescent period and tends to become chronic through life time, it is important to start getting treatments in early stage by being distinguished from other diseases, such as anxiety disorder. A patient in this case was affective blunting, general weakness, and delusion when sixteen years old. However, he refused to get Western medicine treatment and wanted oriental medicine treatment. Methods : The patient in this case had been suffered from severe stress from his family since he was young and had kept having irregular and unhealthy eating habits. Therefore, he diagnosed stagnant qi transforming into fire(氣鬱化火), heart blood deficiency(心血虛), and spleen-stomach deficiency cold(脾胃虛寒) and since then he had received several treatments including herbal treatment, acupumcture treatment, supportive therapy, and family therapy. These treatments were successful and reduced the level of symptoms. After discharged from the hospital, he had continued receiving outpatient treatment with his family for 8 months and his progress had been still observed after the discharge. Results : The symptoms of patient had been almost reduced and eliminated after he received 29days of admission treatment and the patient got better and better and now lives a normal life 8 months outpatient treatment. Conclusions : This result suggests that our oriental medical treatments and family treatments was effective on schizophrenia.
The study aims at verifying the parents' and children's changing process while using parents' play therapy in parent education program to improve the relationship between parents and their children. The experimental group consisted of 42 mothers who have preschoolers in the age range of 3-5, and was compared with the control group of 42 mothers. They joined together a series of 8 sessions (2 hours? or 16 hours?) once a week and took pre- and post-test. All of the sessions were recorded with a VCR camera. All the changing process the mothers showed was analyzed qualitatively to see what happened to the mothers and their children by the methods of coding, taxonomic analysis, critical events, componential analysis, and casual chain analysis suggested by Spradley(1980). The analyses showed that the mothers who participated in the program come to take more sympathetic, receptive attitudes to their children, while the children get better in the children's emotional behavioral problems in the qualitative analysis as well as the quantitative analysis.
The study examined changes in mothers' perceptions about their families through group art therapy and group psychodrama. The 5 mothers selected as the experimental group were tested by Kinetic Family Drawing. The experimental group then participated in psychodrama This was a pre-test, 2 post-test experimental group only design. Each follow-up test was excused at 10 weeks after the previous test. Mothers' acting in the psychodrama was video-recorded. Subjects were interviewed to ascertain change in daily life after the psychotherapy. Results were that positive changes occurred in mothers regarding self-examination and understanding of their families. There were significant difference in the mothers' perceptions of themselves, their children and their families.
The purpose of this study was to obtain the information of the home treatment state for children with delayed development and to identify stress and coping pattern in mothers of the children. Data were collected from 211 mothers of delayed developmental children(DDC) by means of structured questionnaires. The results of this study were that in the home treatment mothers had technical insufficiencies to treat their children. so they had a difficulties in treating their children at home. But the home treatment were effective and mothers were assisted by their family and others in their treatment. The mothers had stress by anxiety of prognosis. hurts, responsibility, technical insufficiencies and negligent in housework. And acquisition of home treatment technique, the existence of assistant, and emotion in treatment also influenced on stress in the mother. The coping pattern in the stress were regular medical examination. communication with medical team and other mothers with DDC, faith of recovery and treatment. confidence in home treatment, family coorperation. and leisure time without concern for treatment. The younger mother received the more help from other mothers with DDC. And the mothers with severe, complex DDC had the more help from faith of recovery. Regular medical examination and faith of recovery were helpful coping pattern in mothers who had no treatment skill. Confidence in family coorperation and leisure time without concern for treatment were particularly helpful in mothers whose treatment duration is longer, and home treatment was not effective.

Purpose : Our study aimed to compare the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and light-emitting diode therapy (LEDT) for chronic pain intensity reduction and body temperature increase in older adults with chronic pain. Methods : Overall, 144 of 332 participants' records were used in this retrospective chart review. The study was conducted at a private health center in Busan city and the integrative medical center of a tertiary care hospital in Daegu city, South Korea. Patients experiencing chronic pain for over 6 months were assigned to either the LLLT or LEDT group. Both groups underwent 16 sessions of phototherapy held twice a week for 8 weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. The primary outcomes for both groups were the mean visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and body temperatures in both groups. The secondary outcome was the correlation between changes in body temperature and pain intensity. Measurements were recorded at the baseline and at each follow-up session. Results : A decrease in pain intensity and an increase in body temperature (p<.001) were observed in both groups. There was a significant difference in the VAS scores and temperature changes between the groups (p<.001). Odditionally, there were significant differences in the patterns of change in the VAS score and body temperature between the groups as the sessions progressed (p<.01), and a strong inverse correlation between body temperature and pain intensity changes were observed (p<.01). Conclusion : The use of photobiomodulation therapy at a specific wavelength may improve pain severity and simultaneously increase the body temperature among elderly people with chronic pain.
